When His Nauseous Sweetheart Frowns, the Tycoon's Family Takes Turns Pampering Her-Chapter 71: Is My Wife Upset I’ve Been Slacking on My Homework?
Luna Axton and Joy Coleman stared at each other, their eyes wide in shock. Wyatt Kingston had just explained things so bluntly.
Blaze Fairchild frowned, his voice dropping several tones, clearly angry. "What nonsense are you spouting?"
Wyatt Kingston said nonchalantly, "Your wife and her friend suspect I’m your kept man."
Blaze Fairchild’s cool voice drifted down to Luna Axton. "You suspected that?"
"I..." Luna Axton trailed off, feeling guilty.
Seeing the CEO’s cold, grim face, Joy Coleman shielded Luna behind her like a mother hen protecting her chick. "Mr. Fairchild, it was my mistake. It has nothing to do with Luna."
Blaze Fairchild stared at Luna Axton, his gaze icy.
Sensing the tense atmosphere, Wyatt Kingston felt like he was in trouble too. He grabbed Joy Coleman and dragged her away. "This is between a husband and wife. Why are you getting so involved, missy?"
Under Blaze Fairchild’s intense stare, Luna Axton’s nerves stretched taut. She was tempted to lie and deny it.
Blaze Fairchild saw right through her. He leaned in, lowering his voice so only the two of them could hear,
"Are you upset I haven’t been turning in my homework on time?"
The man’s low, teasing voice, filled with suggestive undertones, instantly made Luna Axton’s face flush.
In front of everyone, with elegant music filling the air, Blaze Fairchild was actually talking to her about "homework."
She wasn’t some naive little girl; she knew exactly what he meant by "homework."
The heat in her cheeks rose uncontrollably. She looked down and denied it, "That’s not it."
"Our OB-GYN was right. A lack of intimacy can make a pregnant woman’s mind wander. I should be more... active, since you’re in your second trimester."
His voice was low, his warm breath tickling her ear.
Luna Axton’s face burned even hotter, and her full earlobes flushed so deeply it looked as if they might bleed.
She bit her lip, her fine brows knitting together as she said urgently, "I already told you, that’s not it."
Seeing her shy expression, Blaze Fairchild’s heart couldn’t help but stir.
’I really want to kiss her.’
"Come on, I’ll take you to Attorney Coleman. You two have fun. Find me if you need anything."
"Okay."
Wyatt Kingston and Joy Coleman hadn’t gone far. They stood with glasses in hand, trading barbs.
"So, Mr. Kingston, has your boring life gotten interesting yet?"
"It’s interesting now that you’re here."
Joy Coleman raised her glass, one of her fine eyebrows arching. "Fallen for me already?"
"Mmm-hmm." Wyatt Kingston didn’t deny it.
"My fee is non-negotiable!" ’He can forget about playing the charm card. Money is way better than a pretty face.’
"Remember this, missy, I’m not some gigolo." Wyatt Kingston’s gaze darkened. "If you can’t remember, I can always give you a physical demonstration."
"Oh, my god, filming that would be illegal!"
Wyatt Kingston raised his glass and lightly tapped hers. CLINK.
His lips curved into a seductive smirk. "And you’d be the leading lady!"
’So cheesy!’
Joy Coleman shuddered, shaking off a wave of goosebumps, and walked away in her high heels.
She had only taken a few steps before Luna Axton called out to her.
She linked her arm with Luna’s. "Come on, I’ll take you to get a delicious little cake. It’s made with non-dairy cream, really good."
The two friends hadn’t seen each other in over ten days, and once they started talking, they couldn’t stop.
"Aren’t you working?" Luna Axton asked. ’I thought you’d have to be networking at a reception like this.’
"Not me. The guests at this party are all Wyatt Kingston’s friends and celebrities from the entertainment circle. I don’t know any of them. At most, he’ll call me over if something law-related comes up."
Hearing this, Luna Axton lifted her gaze, searching for Blaze Fairchild.
He was surrounded by a group of people, with Wyatt Kingston at his side.
The people around him were fawning over him, cautiously watching his reactions as they spoke.
She was about to look away, but Blaze Fairchild’s gaze caught hers with pinpoint accuracy.
In the bustling banquet hall, their eyes met across the crowd.
He raised an eyebrow, his look asking, ’What’s wrong?’
Luna Axton just smiled and shook her head, her expression saying, ’It’s nothing.’
"Luna Axton," Joy Coleman whispered gossipily in her ear, "are you feeling the love blossom?"
Luna Axton was still lost in the moment and didn’t immediately register what she said. "Huh? What sound?"
"Tsk, tsk, tsk." Joy Coleman clicked her tongue but didn’t say anything else.
’So it turns out I’m just a pawn in the domineering CEO’s pursuit of his sweet little wife.’
The music, mingled with the sounds of clinking glasses and conversation, made it hard for Luna Axton to hear Joy. She instinctively focused, trying to listen more closely.
"Is the streamer talking about her?"
"She kind of looks like her. Look at the pink diamond ring on her hand, the short hair... and she’s pregnant."
Luna Axton’s hand, holding her glass, froze.
’The description was too obvious. Weren’t they talking about me?’
She turned her head to look at the people on the lounge chairs next to them.
The moment the two young women saw her face, they instinctively huddled closer to each other, watching her warily.
"What are you watching?" Luna Axton asked curiously, her eyes fixed on their phones.
"Nothing," one of them denied hastily.
’The people at this reception are either producers, investors, directors, or screenwriters for short-form dramas, or they’re struggling artists just like us.’
’The woman in front of us is dressed in expensive clothes and a full set of pricey jewelry.’
’Even if she is as awful as the streamer claims, the person who brought her here is definitely not someone D-listers like us can afford to offend.’
’We’re barely scraping by in the entertainment industry and have finally gotten a chance to earn money through acting. We can’t risk losing our jobs over a petty argument.’
The other one stressed, "Right, it’s nothing."
With that, the two of them got up and walked away.
"What’s wrong?" Joy Coleman noticed something was off.
"They were talking about some streamer... and it sounded like they were talking about me." She didn’t really understand this stuff.
By now, Luna Axton could feel gazes from all around—probing, scornful, or simply curious.
"Let me see." Joy Coleman pulled out her phone and opened an app as Luna Axton watched. "Don’t worry, it’s okay. Let me take a look."
She expertly typed "Luna Axton" into the search bar, but the results showed no relevant content.
Luna Axton had a bad feeling, panic spreading through her chest. "Try keywords like ’rhinestone’ or ’pink diamond.’"
Joy Coleman did as she said, and sure enough, a long list of videos appeared.
Most of them were from a user named "Eliana the Brainiac (Gossip Livestream)."
"She’s livestreaming right now," Joy Coleman said, tapping on the user’s profile picture to enter the stream.
"It’s not that I want to pick on her, but she’s the one with the problem, bringing shame to Valoria Medical College. Look at this video. If she wasn’t in the wrong, would a customer have thrown milk tea at her?"
The streamer’s voice came through the phone. It was Eliana Yates.
The phone she was holding up was playing a video.
Luna Axton recognized it instantly. It was from when that customer had placed an order for the wrong store.
At the time, she was explaining that the order hadn’t appeared in their system and asked the customer to cancel it and place a new one, which she could make in a minute or two.
But the customer wouldn’t listen. They picked up a finished drink and threw it right in her face.
And now it was being twisted to look like this.
The comment section below the video was filled with Eliana Yates’s supporters, all jumping on the bandwagon.
[Expel anyone who tarnishes the name of Valoria Medical College.]
[Expel her! Expel her! Expel her!]
[Such a hypocrite. I’m a student at Valoria Medical College too, and I feel so ashamed.]
[Thanks for the warning. Valoria Medical College is off my list.]
[The surrogate should just die! Hope the baby is stillborn! One body, two deaths!]
[One body, two deaths~ one body, two deaths~ *dances and twirls*]
Luna Axton’s fingers tightened, her body trembling slightly.
