When His Nauseous Sweetheart Frowns, the Tycoon's Family Takes Turns Pampering Her-Chapter 144: Mrs. Fairchild, Good Morning
Down below, Blaze Fairchild looked up at the silhouette of the dark figure.
The light from her room cast a glow on her, even if he couldn’t make out her face.
Blaze could picture her eyes, as clear as water, surely full of apology.
Luna Axton wasn’t in the habit of carrying her phone. Besides studying and reading, she practiced yoga.
She would only check her phone for messages before dinner. Otherwise, if it didn’t ring, she’d practically forget the device even existed.
Blaze huffed, expressing his dissatisfaction. "I’ll add this to your tab for next time."
"I’ll definitely keep my phone with me from now on. I’ll charge it at night and carry it all day," Luna Axton earnestly promised.
"How does it feel, spending time with your family?"
Blaze changed the subject, wanting to know how she had been during the half-day he wasn’t by her side.
Now that Blaze asked, Luna Axton did have a revelation she wanted to share with him.
"It only hit me today... I don’t advocate for suffering, but it’s only after hardship that you realize how fortunate you are to be alive and how blissful it is to be together. The purpose of suffering is probably just to serve as a control group for comparison."
That wasn’t what Blaze wanted to hear. "So, did you miss me today?"
His voice was deep and magnetic as he coaxed Luna Axton into giving him the answer he wanted to hear.
Luna Axton didn’t disappoint him. "Many times. I was even thinking of you just now while brushing my teeth."
Her honesty put Blaze in a great mood.
His low chuckle came through the phone again, and an orange light suddenly lit up in front of the Frost Family’s gate, dispelling the darkness in a one-meter radius.
The people on both ends of the call paused.
Apparently, neither of them had expected a small, voice-activated night light by the Frosts’ front door.
When Luna Axton saw Blaze dressed all in black, her heart leaped into her throat.
’Are my uncle and aunt asleep?’
’Could someone have heard us talking?’
He tilted his head up, his gaze greedily fixed on the second floor of the small villa.
Upstairs, Luna Axton used the light from her phone screen to illuminate her face so Blaze could see her clearly.
Because Blaze had said he wanted to see her.
In just ten short seconds, they both saw the person they longed to see. Their wishes were granted, and they were content.
Blaze Fairchild’s figure once again disappeared into the darkness.
Luna Axton voiced the question on her mind. "How did you know I was in this room?"
"Because it’s close to the street."
Luna Axton was confused. What did being close to the street have to do with her staying in this room? "I don’t get it."
"The Frost Family is a family of doctors. They definitely prioritize sleep quality and healthy living, so they go to bed early," Blaze explained gently in a hushed voice.
"They go to bed early, but other people stay up late, so there’s bound to be noise that could disturb their sleep. They would surely all choose to live in quieter rooms. This room facing the street would naturally be the spare one, used occasionally when they have guests."
As she listened to his explanation, it dawned on Luna Axton.
The Frost Family’s kitchen was below her room, and none of the other family members’ rooms were on this side of the house.
The third floor was an attic with inward-facing windows, where Ethan Frost lived.
"You’re so observant. That’s amazing," Luna Axton praised him.
"Otherwise, how would I be able to see you right now?" Blaze’s tone was tinged with pride.
"Premeditated," Luna Axton accused playfully.
In the darkness, Blaze raised an eyebrow, not denying it. "Mhm."
Luna Axton stared at the spot where the light had been. He had sat in his car for over two hours, and now he was standing in the night breeze chatting with her.
Her heart ached for Blaze, and she didn’t want him to stay out in the wind any longer.
"It’s getting late. You should go back now."
"Luna Axton." Blaze ignored her and suddenly called out her full name.
Luna Axton grew inexplicably nervous, her fingers tightening around her phone.
"What is it?" she asked, feigning composure, afraid he would refuse to leave and say something that would trigger the night light again.
But the man downstairs suddenly said, "Good morning, Mrs. Fairchild."
Luna Axton chided, "The sun isn’t even up."
"It’s a new day. Have a wonderful and happy day."
"Okay." Luna Axton’s heart felt light as a feather; she was already very happy.
’Chatting with Blaze before bed will help me sleep so well.’
"What are your plans for tomorrow?"
"I’ll take Grandpa out for a walk. The day after tomorrow, I have to work. The day after that, there’s an event at the mall. And on the last day of the holiday, I hope to take my parents to the airport and then pick you up to come home."
Blaze reported his holiday schedule all in one breath.
It was as if by saying it all, the holiday was already over, and Luna would be sitting in his car on the drive back to the Fairchild Estate.
"You have to work even during the holiday? You poor thing," Luna Axton said, feigning a lighthearted tone.
Blaze played along. "Yeah, and I don’t even have Mrs. Fairchild waiting at home."
"You should hurry back and get some sleep." Luna Axton was genuinely afraid that if they kept talking like this, the sun would rise.
’I never realized we could talk so much.’
Blaze: "Okay, you go in and get to sleep first, then I’ll drive off."
Luna Axton: "You drive off first."
Blaze: "You first."
Luna Axton: "It’s a longer trip for you to get back to bed. You go first."
Blaze’s laugh came through again. "The moment I start my car, if your room light is still on, everyone will know that Mr. Fairchild missed his wife so much he rushed over for a late-night rendezvous."
A smile touched Luna Axton’s lips. ’When did he get so good at saying things that make me so happy?’
But he had a point. The sound of the car starting would definitely trigger the night light at the Frost Family’s gate.
"Wait a second."
With that, she turned to switch off the room light, then returned to the balcony and asked Blaze downstairs through the phone, "Can you go now?"
Blaze: "Sleep well, Mrs. Fairchild."
A moment later, the sound of a car starting came from below. The Frost Family’s gate was illuminated by the car’s headlights and the night light.
Luna Axton waved to Blaze Fairchild, and he drove away.
Only when his car was out of sight and her surroundings were plunged into darkness again did she turn, close the balcony door, and get under the covers to sleep.
Hugging a pillow, Luna Axton’s mind kept replaying the conversation they just had.
’How did I not realize the sound of the car starting would trigger the voice-activated night light?’
’Why has my brain gotten so slow?’
But then again, Blaze had also said:
"Good morning, Mrs. Fairchild."
"Have a wonderful and happy day."
"Mr. Fairchild missed his wife so much he rushed over for a late-night rendezvous."
’How could such sweet words roll off his tongue so easily?’
’And he waited downstairs for her for over two hours in the middle of the night, just to see her for a moment.’
’An act like that was completely at odds with his status as a business tycoon.’
’But he had really and truly done it.’ 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Luna Axton’s heart felt like a balloon, filled to bursting with his sweet words, floating, light and airy.
