Luna Axton looked toward the source of the voice.

Blaze Fairchild. He was standing at the entrance with Kyle. Behind them was a group of people in sharp suits. Even the women were in formal business attire, and every one of them looked like a top-tier professional.

The scene suddenly reminded Luna of a show she and Joy used to watch every winter, snuggled under the covers. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

In that show, whenever the theme music started, the male lead would start running. But unlike that male lead’s melancholic and affectionate air, Blaze’s face was simply cold.

Running into Blaze here was unexpected, but she seized the opportunity, unwilling to let herself be wronged.

Luna ran over, boldly took Blaze’s arm, and spoke in a pitiful tone. "Auntie promised Grandpa she’d take me out to buy some clothes. We went to several stores, but she said nothing was suitable. And in this store, not only did they not offer me any water, but they refused to get any clothes for me to try on.

"Finally, I managed to try on a bunch of clothes in the fitting room, but I didn’t like any of them. Then Auntie said she’d take me to buy clothes at a street market. I figured that wasn’t on the itinerary, so I thought it best to report to you first."

Seeing her acting so intimately with the CEO, the three sales associates were so scared that they stood at attention with their heads bowed.

The group behind them started wiping sweat from their brows when they heard Luna say the staff refused to get clothes for a customer to try on or even offer a glass of water.

It would be one thing if it were an ordinary customer, but the person clinging to the CEO’s arm was clearly no ordinary customer.

She was holding the CEO’s arm while lodging a formal complaint. How is this any different from someone petitioning the emperor in ancient times?

After listening, Blaze looked down at Luna and asked, "You want to go?"

"A street market sounds great. I can pick up a few things for Grandpa to take home."

Luna’s big eyes were so pure and innocent that no one could possibly doubt her.

Everyone gasped. Making Old Master Fairchild wear clothes from a street market? Wouldn’t that be a huge embarrassment to the Fairchild family?

It wasn’t that the clothes were bad, but they sent the wrong message. People might think the Evergrow Group is going bankrupt.

"Fine. Kyle, go to a street market, buy a few outfits for Grandpa, and have them sent over. Say they’re a gift from Aunt."

"Blaze Fairchild!!" Rosalind Fairchild, who had been silent until now, couldn’t stay seated any longer. She shot up angrily but didn’t dare make a scene in front of so many people. Otherwise, it wouldn’t just be the Fairchild family who lost face.

It would also affect her husband, Miles Jacobs, who was the Deputy Director of the Foreign Ministry’s Information Department.

Rosalind stormed toward the entrance, looking like she was about to crash right into Luna.

Kyle was on Luna’s right, and Blaze was on her left. There was nowhere for her to dodge.

Just as she was wondering what to do, a large hand suddenly tightened around her waist, pulling her into an embrace and stepping aside.

Luna’s face brushed against Blaze’s firm chest, and it instantly flushed hot.

Watching Rosalind’s retreating figure, Luna consciously took a step to the side, putting some distance between herself and Blaze. "Mr. Fairchild, I’ll be heading back now, too."

"Mm."

As she was leaving, Luna turned to the three sales associates. "Thank you for tidying all this up."

Hearing this, the three of them bowed their heads even lower. This girl is wicked. Stabbing them one last time on her way out.

Luna and Caleb had just stepped out of the store when Blaze called out to her, "Um... Luna Axton."

"What is it?"

"The clothes in the shop across the way have comfortable fabric, loose fits, and no flashy patterns."

Luna mulled it over for a moment. "Then I’ll go give it a try."

She had driven Rosalind away in anger. Since Grandpa had specifically asked Aunt to take her shopping, it would be hard to explain to him if she came back empty-handed.

No sooner had Luna gone in than Blaze followed her. He had no interest in clothes; he had only come in because he wanted to speak to Luna privately.

The clothes in this shop were primarily made of cotton and linen, with simple styles that felt good against the skin.

"Ma’am, feel free to try anything on. Just let me know if you need anything." The sales associate had seen the commotion in the store across the way—it wasn’t far—and she knew exactly what had happened. Those people were digging their own graves, but she’s not that stupid!

Luna picked out three outfits, tried them all on, and then chose two to buy.

Lakeside Manor had a dryer, and Mrs. Creed did the laundry every day, so two outfits would be enough to rotate.

While checking out, however, Luna spotted something for a baby. The product name said it was a bib. The fabric was like medical gauze, very soft, and it had a cute little mushroom pattern on it.

She couldn’t resist and placed one on the counter to pay.

"Hello, ma’am. Your total is 3,689 dollars."

It was expensive, but that didn’t matter.

Luna pulled out the gold card in front of Blaze. "Use this."

Blaze raised an eyebrow. He’d been wondering if she would refuse to use his card out of some misplaced sense of pride. He disliked such indecisiveness over trivial matters.

Luna’s decisiveness was actually to his liking.

Luna, however, thought he had some opinion about her using the gold card Mrs. Creed had given her. She held the card out to Blaze. "Mrs. Creed gave this to me. Can I use it?"

The staff all glanced over. Blaze’s expression stiffened for a moment before he spoke domineeringly. "You’re my wife now. You don’t need my permission to use my money!"

A strange feeling stirred in Luna’s heart. But he’s probably only acting like this because she’s carrying his child!

Thinking of this, she suddenly understood why Blaze had abruptly left work to wait for her while she picked out clothes.

Most likely, he was dissatisfied with her behavior earlier and wanted to give her a reminder. After all, she was an outsider, and that woman is his aunt. Making such a scene in public is pretty embarrassing.

After paying, Caleb went to get the car, leaving Blaze and Luna waiting at the mall entrance.

"If Grandpa asks, just say Aunt helped you buy these. She’s the only child he has by his side. We can’t let him be upset."

"Mrs. Creed told me that when I left. I know."

"Good." Smart people really do make things easier, Blaze thought.

Today’s incident also made it clear to him that Luna Axton really had no connection to the Jacobs family. He had misunderstood her before and been wary of her every move. He could consider what just happened as compensation.

Luna waited for a few minutes, but Blaze didn’t say anything else. Looks like Blaze doesn’t have anything to say about her actions. He just doesn’t want Grandpa to be upset by what happened.

"I have to go see my mother after lunch, and I have a class this afternoon. For the prenatal care class..." Luna mustered her courage and brought it up, hoping Blaze wouldn’t schedule her time so tightly. "Can we do three sessions a week?"

"No. We’ll make it up at night."

"Okay," Luna said, resigning herself to her fate.

Rosalind Fairchild left in a huff. She didn’t go home; instead, she dialed Yvonne Rhodes’s number.
