WHAT! I Have To Kill Heaven's Son To Live!-Chapter 211: Dao of Cooking!
Chapter 211: Chapter 211: Dao of Cooking!
Three Days Later...
"Hahhh..."
Reon let out a long breath, slowly opening his eyes from his meditative position atop the bed.
The morning sunlight filtered softly through the window, casting golden hues across his robes.
’Finally... I’ve broken through. Something I couldn’t do amidst the chaos in Mishou Village.’
’After returning to the sect, I had to buy the necessary pills I needed for the breakthrough...’
’Then, with Luna’s assistance, I absorbed all the Intermediate Grade Spiritual Stones gifted by Miss Elenora.’
’Thanks to that... I’ve reached the Fourth Stage of the Foundation Realm in one go.’
He flexed his fingers, opening and closing his palm.
’This amount of spiritual energy... it’s definitely ten times greater than before. I guess breaking into a major realm really does make a difference. My strength has increased by at least eightfold, too.’
He glanced toward the window—outside, it was already getting quite crowded.
’And today... is finally the Inner Disciple Selection Ceremony.’
A small smile touched his lips.
’Time to get ready.’
Reon rose from the bed and walked toward the washroom.
From the kitchen, a cheerful voice called out, "Brother Taiyang? Is your meditation finally over?"
"Yes," Reon replied with a nod.
"Congratulations on your breakthrough!" Mei Lin beamed.
"Thank you, Xiao Lin. What are you up to so early?"
Mei Lin stepped out from the kitchen with a tray in hand, her eyes sparkling.
"I was making breakfast for you. I was just about to call you. Today’s important for you, after all. Good thing your meditation ended in time!"
Reon chuckled softly. "Thanks for your hard work."
Mei Lin pouted slightly.
"I know, I know—you didn’t want me to be your servant that day. But... your room was such a mess when we first got there. I had to clean everything, you know?"
Reon scratched the back of his head sheepishly.
"Haha... sorry about that. You worked hard."
Mei Lin gave a playful shrug.
"It’s fine. I don’t mind cleaning your room—after all, I am your personal maid. But at least try to keep it tidy from now on."
"I will, I will. I promise, Fussy Little Maid," Reon said with a grin.
"Hehe~" Mei Lin giggled in return.
"Alright," she added. "Go take a bath. Breakfast is ready."
"On it." Reon nodded and disappeared into the washroom.
A few minutes later, he returned, a towel wrapped loosely around his waist.
His skin glistened with moisture, and the contours of his lean, muscular body were sharply defined—broad shoulders, sculpted abs, and an air of casual confidence.
Mei Lin, setting dishes on the small table, glanced toward him—and instantly froze.
Her face turned red, a thin stream of blood dripped from her nose, and a bit of drool slipped from the corner of her mouth.
’Ahhh... Brother Taiyang is so freaking handsome...’
Reon caught her wide-eyed stare and felt awkward.
"A-Ahem."
He coughed deliberately.
Mei Lin jolted back to her senses, quickly wiping her face and turning her head in embarrassment.
"O-Oh! Brother Taiyang, come quickly! The food’s getting cold!" she called out, voice a bit too high.
Reon gave her a blank stare.
"...Right. Coming."
He quickly put on his sect robes and walked to the table.
Mei Lin, sitting on the other side, cleared her throat and spoke with a forced calm.
"I’ve also prepared breakfast for Sister Cloudia and little tiger. You can call them too."
"Oh, really? That’s great."
Reon summoned them without delay.
In a flash of light, both appeared before the table.
Cloudia instantly transformed into her human form and rushed over.
"Master!" she exclaimed, throwing her arms around him.
Reon chuckled and gently patted her head.
From across the table, Mei Lin watched the affectionate scene, her pout deepening, jealousy blooming in her chest.
’I didn’t expect that adorable little fox to turn into such a stunning woman...’
’And the most shocking part... she’s actually Brother Taiyang’s lover?’
’I should’ve known—someone as exceptional as Brother Taiyang would never be single.’
’Still... I want to be...’
She lowered her eyes, hiding the complicated swirl of emotions rising within her chest.
They all sat down at the table together.
Cloudia, seated comfortably at Reon’s side, was the first to dig in. She took a bite of the roast chicken Mei Lin had prepared and nodded in approval.
"Junior Sister, your cooking is quite good," she said, her voice soft and genuine. "It’s truly a blessing to have a little sister like you."
"I’m glad it suits Sister Cloudia’s taste," Mei Lin replied with a polite smile.
The little tiger, seated next to her, was happily munching away, tail wagging in delight.
But Mei Lin’s gaze lingered on only one person—Reon.
"Brother Taiyang," she asked, trying to sound casual but clearly expectant, "how’s my cooking?"
"Oh! Sorry, I hadn’t started yet. Thanks for the meal." Reon blinked, then picked up his chopsticks. "Let’s see what Xiao Lin’s cooking tastes like."
He lifted a bite to his mouth—and froze. As the flavors burst across his tongue, his eyes widened in astonishment.
"Delicious!" he exclaimed with genuine surprise.
"This is amazing! Xiao Lin, where did you learn to cook like this? This might be the best food I’ve ever eaten."
’This isn’t just good... this is divine. Her cooking has the essence of intent. If she pursued the Dao of Cooking, she might even reach its peak someday...’ Reon thought inwardly in awe.
Mei Lin beamed, her entire face lighting up from his praise. She spoke with a proud but gentle smile.
"Hehe... I learned from my mother. She was the finest cook in our village."
"She must’ve been incredible. I can tell just from this meal alone," Reon said sincerely.
"She was..." Mei Lin replied softly, lowering her eyes. Her voice trembled slightly. "The best."
Reon’s smile faded slightly. He noticed the subtle sorrow in her expression, the lingering ache behind her words.
’She still misses her parents... deeply.’
Reon leaned forward slightly, his voice quieter, but warm.
"Mei Lin," he said gently, "will you let me taste your cooking... for the rest of my life?"
She looked up in surprise, her eyes slightly red and glossy with emotion.
Then slowly, joy spread across her face as the meaning of his words sank in—he had accepted her.
To her, those words weren’t just about food—they were a quiet promise.
He was telling her she belonged... that she could stay by his side, always and forever.
Her lips trembled. Tears welled up in her eyes and began to fall, but her smile shone brighter than ever.
"Yes... I will. I definitely will," she said, her voice thick with emotion. "I’ll cook for you for the rest of my life."
Reon smiled warmly, taking another bite of her food.
"That makes me really happy. I’ll be looking forward to your cooking every day."
"I’ll make sure it’s always the best for you, Brother Taiyang," Mei Lin replied, wiping her tears and giggling softly.
