What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?-Chapter 792: New Terran Revolution
The first barrage from our railguns flew towards the line of insurgent ships in the distance, none of them aware of our presence since they were fully focused on the fight with the defense forces.
Lea seemed to have targeted the biggest ship as I watched the kinetic rounds fly towards what I believe was a C Class Corvette.
I thought she was only using the railgun to target the ships for some reason until the kinetic rounds were almost on the ship.
Lea then fired the high intensity lasers which flew faster than the kinetic rounds, striking against the corvette and shredding through its shield.
Right as the shield was broken, the kinetic rounds fired from our railguns flew through the space that the shield once occupied to smash through the hull of the ship.
I don’t even think the people on that ship had enough time to realise that they were being attacked before their ship split into two and broke apart, right before an explosion consumed them.
Damn... Nice shot, Lea.
The sight of one of their corvettes being blown apart made them hesitate for a moment, giving Lea time to load the next round to fire the lasers again.
The lasers burned through the shields of another corvette and shattered it, leaving it defenseless against the turrets on the stations around it as they peppered the ship with explosions.
Unfortunately, they did not have enough firepower to take it down but the shots did force it to move away from the station and out into the open, which meant that they were pretty much open to our own guns.
Lea fired the lasers and the unfortunate corvette was struck on its broadside, the energy beams melting two giant holes in the sides of the ship.
We got a little closer to the battle and a few of those B Class insurgent ships broke off to fly towards us.
I wasn’t sure what their plan was but I’d think any normal people seeing this would know that it was suicidal for them to charge at us at that distance.
Unless... They thought that since they were flying smaller ships, we wouldn’t be able to hit them?
They flew towards us in a scattered formation and we turned to face our broadside towards them.
Before we even completed the turn, Lea fired a shot from the railgun, the kinetic round piercing through space and flying straight towards the formation.
The B Class Heavy Bombers dove to the side to avoid the kinetic round and I thought it was rare for Lea to miss her shot, that was until I realised that in avoiding that shot, several of the ships ended up unintentionally lining themselves up into a straight line.
Lea didn’t miss that chance and fired our High Intensity Laser turret, piercing through four of them in a single shot.
What’s more, the kinetic round she shot earlier wasn’t wasted either as it struck the side of the last corvette that was still fighting with the defense forces.
Sure, the shield blocked it, but the fact that she still managed to do it was impressive.
The remaining insurgents realised how screwed they were and broke away, trying to escape from us.
Well... If you turn your backs on us like that...
Lea didn’t hold back and shot them all down while they were fleeing, wiping the entire group out.
At that point, the battle was pretty much lost for the insurgents and they decided to cut their losses and began to escape.
They flew in the direction of the other Warp Gate and it looked like they would be able to get away since they were out of our firing range.
But as though waiting for that exact moment, another ship warped in directly in front of them, blocking them from reaching the Warp Gate.
A quick scan showed that it was a D Class Destroyer from the UTG military.
They showed up faster than I thought.
Without hesitation, they started firing at the insurgents, easily destroying the last remaining Corvette and its escorts, turning the entire group into derelicts that floated off into space.
Guess we’re done here then?
"Mistress? We’re being hailed," Yumiko informed me.
I nodded at her, "It’s from the Destroyer, right? Patch them through."
A screen appeared in front of me and a woman wearing a military uniform with a naval cap was shown on the screen.
She saluted me, "Captain Honoka of the UTSN Night Song, thank you for the assist here, Captain Tera."
Oh, she already knows who I am?
I’m guessing she must have scanned us and figured out who we were from that. These ships are registered under me after all.
I waved at her, "Just doing what I should do, Captain."
She nodded at me, "Don’t worry, the military will properly compensate you through the Guild."
That’s what I like to hear~
What was our kill count? Two C Class ships and at least seven B Class ships. That’s around three hundred thousand Credits if my memory still serves. Not too bad for a skirmish that barely took us five minutes. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Unfortunately, we won’t be scavenging the debris since we have places to be but... I’m sure we would have other chances to do so.
We left the area for the military to deal with and returned to Theresa who was waiting at the place we left her.
A call request came from her which I accepted to prompt a screen to pop up in front of me.
"That... That was really impressive, Miss Tera. I suppose that’s to be expected of a Platinum ranked Merc who also took down a Pirate Lord."
I noticed Yumiko squirming in the corner of my eye and I had to resist the temptation to tell her that I’m still taking down a specific Pirate Lord in bed every night.
Ahem...
"Well, it’s all thanks to the fact that I have really good crew members. My gunner is especially skilled," I praised, looking to the side where Lea was still manning the guns.
She was still completely naked since she didn’t have time to dress herself when the alarms sounded and she turned to smile at my praise, giving me an unobstructed view of her enchanting figure.
I ended the call with Theresa and started the docking sequence with her ship, relaxing in my chair once again and letting the girls return to whatever they were doing before this.
Amber came over from the map console to settle herself down on my lap, sitting sideways so that she could hang her legs over the armrest while wrapping her arms around the back of my neck.
She grinned, "So~ First fight in the Inner Colonies, eh?"
"Yeah... I didn’t think that we would have something like insurgents flying around though."
"Remember what we said about being unlucky to be born in the Inner area?"
"Let me guess... There’s people who escaped from there that in turn formed a rebel group to try and fight back?"
She nodded, "That’s right~ And they recruited anyone who were unhappy with the status quo so that includes slaves, criminals, pirates, the ones that feel oppressed and the influential and rich people who want more power for themselves."
"I’m guessing the last group is the one funding the insurgents for them to get all those weapons and ships?"
"That’s right~ And they’re also the ones who rile up sympathisers so the UTG has trouble tracking them down and using too much force on them. Ironic, isn’t it?"
I shrugged, "Not really. I’ve seen that happen back in my universe before. The enemy outside is being helped by the enemy within. And the greatest threat to the country isn’t the threat outside your walls but inside it instead."
"Oh? Seems like even in a different universe, some things stay the same, hmmm?"
"I’m curious though," I asked, moving to hug Amber closer to me. "What are these insurgents aiming for?"
Yumiko was the one that answered, "They call themselves the New Terran Revolution and their official goal is to overthrow the current UTG and to establish themselves as a new government where they will abolish the nobles and corporate conglomerates."
I frowned at that, "New Terran Revolution?"
"Yes, Mistress."
"The NTR?"
"That’s the short form of their group, yes."
I’m... Not even going to comment on that...
"So I’m guessing these guys are just a pain in the ass for the people living in the Inner Colonies?" I asked.
Yumiko nodded, "Pretty much. They’re treated as a group of terrorists so you could just liken them to pirates, Captain."
Which is why we get paid for taking them down as well.
Amber then perked up, "As a side note though... Because they have rich sponsors, you could say that their equipment and gear are actually much better than the pirates that we would meet in the Outer Colonies."
I could see that... Considering they quite literally deployed three C Class Corvettes to try and attack this sector.
Then again, they were supposed to be a large cohesive group instead of scattered cells so it’s easier to consolidate their resources.
Well... Once again, none of my business~
