Wedding Night: My Disabled Husband Made Me Cry-Chapter 184: The Man from That Night Appears
Vivian Quinn froze, completely clueless as to what was happening.
Ian Sterling stepped forward and pushed the little boy away. "Who are you? What are you shouting about?"
The little boy looked up, revealing a dark, ruddy complexion. His features were plain, and he spoke with a slight accent. "She’s my mommy!"
"Get lost. Don’t go around calling people that."
"But she really is my mommy!" Tears welled in the little boy’s eyes. "I’ve been looking for my mommy for a long, long time!"
Vivian Quinn frowned. "I’m not your mother. You have the wrong person."
"I’m not!" the little boy said anxiously, pointing at the door. "If you don’t believe me, ask my daddy!"
Just then, a plainly dressed man who bore a strong resemblance to the boy walked in. He went straight up to Vivian Quinn and said excitedly, "I’ve finally found you!"
A sudden realization dawned on Vivian Quinn, and her voice trembled slightly. "Who are you?"
"Do you remember that night at The Oakhaven Hotel, three and a half years ago?"
It was as if countless thunderclaps had exploded in Vivian Quinn’s mind. The world spun before her eyes, her legs gave out, and she nearly fainted.
Ian Sterling quickly caught Vivian Quinn, glaring angrily at the man. "What nonsense are you spouting? Get the hell out!"
"I’m here for my kid’s mother. What’s it to you?" The man roughly shoved Ian Sterling aside and looked at Vivian Quinn with a greasy smile. "Honey, I’m here to take you home. Let’s go."
Vivian Quinn’s face was as white as a sheet. "I don’t know you, I don’t know you..."
"A single night as husband and wife means a hundred days of grace. How could you forget me?" The man advanced on her, his voice rising. "It was your birthday. You drank too much and pulled me into the room yourself. We had a night of passion, and then you gave birth to this child. Have you forgotten?"
Vivian Quinn shook her head frantically. "No, it wasn’t like that, no!"
The guests began to whisper amongst themselves. "God, I thought today was finally over. Who knew there’d be such a shocking twist!"
"Master Sterling told everyone that Vivian Quinn’s child was his. We all knew better, of course, but no one dared to say it. Who would have thought this man would show up at the door?"
"Good thing Master Sterling isn’t here, or he’d be utterly humiliated."
The voices were like a flood, rushing madly into Vivian Quinn’s mind. She felt like she was drowning, a suffocating sensation creeping over her until she couldn’t breathe.
’Rachel Quinn clearly said that the child was dead. That’s why I never imagined a scene like this would ever happen!’
’I tried so hard to forget something I can’t even remember, but now, reality has dealt me a fatal blow!’
Seeing Vivian Quinn’s reaction, a triumphant glint flashed in the man’s eyes. "Honey, let’s go home."
The little boy on the floor hugged Vivian Quinn’s leg. "Mommy, come home with me and Daddy. We’re a family."
"No..." Vivian Quinn stared at the lecherous face before her, her stomach churning. She nearly threw up, her own face turning deathly pale. "I won’t go with you! I don’t know you! I won’t!"
The man reached for her hand. "Honey, we should go home. I’ll be good to you from now on."
Before his hand could touch Vivian Quinn, a sudden BANG! rang out. The man cried out in pain and looked down to see that the back of his hand had been shot, blood streaming from the wound.
"AHH!" the man screamed in agony.
Everyone jumped in shock, turning their heads toward the entrance where the sound had come from.
There, a man in a black suit sat in a wheelchair, the gun in his hand still pointed at the injured man.
His incomparably handsome face was expressionless, but his deep, bottomless eyes were filled with a killing intent that made one’s blood run cold.
Everyone was stunned by his powerful, murderous aura, not even daring to breathe too loudly.
Jett Sterling lowered his gun, raised his eyes to Vivian Quinn, and held out his hand. "Vivian, come here."
Vivian Quinn struggled to pull herself together. A mist slowly formed in her eyes as she shook her head in anguish.
Jett Sterling’s eyes filled with heartache as he maneuvered his wheelchair toward her.
Vivian Quinn instinctively backed away. "Don’t come closer, don’t come closer..."
"Vivian, don’t be afraid," Jett Sterling said in a hoarse voice. "I’m here. No one can hurt you. Trust me, okay?"
"I don’t want to..." Vivian Quinn muttered to herself. "I don’t want to go with you, I don’t want to..."
"Vivian, have you mistaken me for someone else? It’s me."
"I don’t know any of you! I don’t know this child! I won’t go with you!" Vivian Quinn covered her ears with her hands and broke down crying. "I’m begging you, please, let me go! Just this once, let me go! I won’t go with you!"
"Vivian..."
Just as Jett Sterling was about to move forward, he saw the girl’s eyes slowly close as her whole body fell backward.
"Vivian!"
"Vivian Quinn!"
Ian Sterling rushed forward and caught Vivian Quinn before she hit the ground.
Jett Sterling wheeled himself over, took her from Ian, and held her carefully in his arms.
He closed his eyes. When he opened them again, they were once again filled with a murderous aura.
His sharp eyes swept over everyone present. He spoke each word with deliberate, resounding force, "I will get to the bottom of what happened today. But if anyone dares to breathe a single word of this to the outside world, or if I find out anyone is gossiping about my wife, you will bear the consequences."
With that, Jett Sterling left immediately. Easton Rivers took the injured man and the child away as well.
It took a long time for the guests to recover from their shock, but recalling Jett Sterling’s warning, no one dared to discuss it.
...
Vivian Quinn awoke in icy seawater. In the darkness, the bone-chilling water engulfed her, making it impossible to breathe.
Vivian Quinn struggled, trying to swim upward, but two heavy stones were tied to her feet, dragging her down.
Her strength gradually faded, and she slowly gave up the struggle. In despair, she closed her eyes, letting herself sink to the bottom of the sea.
Suddenly, a low, pleasant voice reached her ears. "Vivian? Vivian?"
The last vestiges of Vivian Quinn’s consciousness slowly returned.
"Vivian, wake up. Look at me." The man called her name. "Vivian, don’t scare me. I’m here. No one can hurt you."
’It was Jett Sterling...’
His handsome face appeared in Vivian Quinn’s mind.
He was a ray of light that had shone into her dark and obscure life.
He would risk his own life to save her, and he would endure any pain to protect her.
’I owe Jett Sterling far too much, so much that I can never repay him. I can’t bear to leave him!’
The girl in the hospital bed suddenly snapped her eyes open, gasping for breath.
"Doctor!" Jett Sterling couldn’t hide his joy. "She’s awake!"
The doctor hurried forward to check on her. "Master Sterling, as long as Mrs. Sterling is awake, she’ll be fine. She just needs a few days of quiet rest, and there won’t be any major issues."
"Good."
It took a while for Vivian Quinn to compose herself, her thoughts finally returning. Looking at the man before her, whose stubble had started to show, she managed to say his name. "Jett Sterling..."
