Wedding Night: My Disabled Husband Made Me Cry-Chapter 183: Mom, I’ve Finally Found You
Everyone turned toward the voice and saw a tall, well-built man walking in.
"B-Brother..." Miles Wentworth was dumbfounded.
Shirley Wentworth was also completely stunned. ’The man who went into the room with Vivian Quinn was her brother?’
’No wonder his silhouette looked a little familiar. But since she hadn’t lived in Aethelgard these past few years, she wasn’t that familiar with Vincent Wentworth and didn’t recognize him at first!’
’How could Vivian Quinn get mixed up with her brother!’
When Vivian Quinn saw Vincent Wentworth, she subconsciously furrowed her brow. The moment she heard Miles Wentworth call him "Brother," she had already guessed his identity, and a sense of dread washed over her.
’Does this world have to be so small!’
Vivian Quinn turned to look at Vincent Wentworth.
Their eyes met, but neither of them spoke.
But Vincent Wentworth gave her a reassuring look, then walked over to Miles Wentworth and said coldly, "The man in the video is me. Couldn’t you tell?"
Miles Wentworth flinched in fear. "Brother, I’m sorry, I really didn’t notice it was you."
"Then don’t go stirring up trouble."
"Yes, yes, of course."
The guests were all dumbfounded.
"Holy crap, what’s going on? Shirley Wentworth had a child with Master Sterling, and now Vincent Wentworth slept with Mrs. Sterling? Does this family have to be so messy?"
"The last time I saw a plot this melodramatic was in a novel!"
"It’s a total mess. It’s making my head spin..."
Shirley Wentworth took a deep breath, finally managing to calm herself down. She walked forward and asked in a low voice, "Brother, how did you end up with Vivian Quinn? Between you two..."
"What do you hope happened between us?" Vincent Wentworth retorted. "Something like this happened to Miss Quinn at a banquet you’re hosting. Shouldn’t you be held responsible?"
Shirley Wentworth looked a little awkward. "Brother, there are so many people here. I can’t possibly look after every single guest."
"Miss Wentworth certainly couldn’t look after me," Vivian Quinn said with a faint smile. "Because the drugged glass of wine was handed to me by none other than you, Miss Wentworth."
"How is that possible!" Shirley Wentworth denied it without a second thought. "Miss Quinn, you should watch what you say. You can’t just make wild accusations. Why would I possibly drug you!"
"Since I arrived, the only thing I’ve drunk is the glass of wine you handed me. If it wasn’t you, who else could it be?"
Shirley Wentworth laughed out loud. "Miss Quinn, what benefit would I get from drugging you? Not only would it ruin my banquet, but now that you have this kind of relationship with my brother, things between us are a tangled mess. What do I get out of this besides a headache?"
"You know your motives perfectly well." Vivian Quinn’s beautiful face turned cold, her aura growing more intense. "Isn’t it because you hoped that after I was drugged, I would sleep with a man so I would have to divorce Jett?"
Shirley Wentworth’s face flushed red as she said angrily, "Miss Quinn, if you’re going to say things like that, then there’s no point in this conversation. I’m not as vile as you think!"
Vivian Quinn just smiled. "Of course you wouldn’t admit to something like that. But there’s one thing you definitely didn’t expect."
Shirley Wentworth asked, "And what’s that?"
"Nothing happened between your brother and me."
Shirley Wentworth blurted out, "How is that possible!"
Vivian Quinn laughed outright. "Your acting really isn’t very convincing, Miss Wentworth. Shouldn’t you be happy that there’s nothing between your brother and me? Why would you have that kind of reaction?"
Shirley Wentworth suddenly realized her slip-up and hurriedly explained, "I mean, if you were really drugged, how did you manage to remain unscathed without... sleeping with my brother?"
"So you think I’m lying to you?" Vivian Quinn retorted.
"I didn’t say that."
Just as Vivian Quinn was about to speak, Vincent Wentworth’s voice cut in. "Miss Quinn and I are perfectly innocent. Absolutely nothing happened between us."
He took out his phone, did something, and then projected its display onto the screen. "To avoid any misunderstandings, I started recording before I helped Miss Quinn into the room. This video is enough to prove our innocence."
Vivian Quinn was quite surprised. ’I didn’t expect Vincent Wentworth to be such a cautious person, to think of making such preparations.’
’But on second thought, it’s normal. A man in his position must have countless people plotting against him; it’s impossible for him to not have his guard up.’
The video was very clear. After helping Vivian Quinn into the bathroom, Vincent Wentworth came out quickly, and there was no further physical contact.
Ian Sterling secretly breathed a sigh of relief. "You scared the hell out of me. If something had really happened to you, my uncle would have torn me to shreds when I got back!"
Vivian Quinn’s lips curved into a smirk. "If she wants to plot against me, she’d better have the skills to back it up."
’It wasn’t that she hadn’t been on guard against Shirley Wentworth. She had even checked the drink when she took it, but she never expected Shirley to have prepared such a potent drug—colorless, odorless, and incredibly strong!’
’Since Shirley Wentworth was merciless toward her, she couldn’t be blamed for being ruthless in return!’
Vivian Quinn waited for the video to finish playing, then stared at Shirley Wentworth and asked, "Disappointed, Miss Wentworth?"
Shirley Wentworth quickly regained her composure, lifting her chin and saying arrogantly, "You must be joking, Miss Quinn. Why would I have any reason to be disappointed?"
The guests began to murmur amongst themselves.
"Well, that was a letdown. I really thought something was going on between Vivian Quinn and Vincent Wentworth."
"Even if nothing happened, tonight’s events were still messy enough."
"What do you make of all this?"
"What’s there to make of it? It’s not our place to get involved. We just watch the drama unfold."
Vivian Quinn glanced at the onlookers and, not wanting to be part of a spectacle any longer, said, "I admit I have no proof that the drug was in the glass of wine you gave me. But you know exactly what the truth is. I’m not in the mood to play games with you, so I’ll be leaving. However, this matter isn’t over. I expect you to give me a proper explanation soon."
Shirley Wentworth was so furious she felt like her lungs would explode. She gritted her teeth and said, "By what right do you demand an explanation from me?"
Vivian Quinn smiled calmly. "By the right that I am Jett Sterling’s wife."
Shirley Wentworth: "..."
The people around them began to whisper, "I didn’t expect that. Vivian Quinn has a pretty strong presence."
"Duh. If I had married into the Sterling family, I would have slapped her across the face by now."
"Exactly. Wasn’t this whole banquet organized just to humiliate Vivian Quinn?"
"Right. Shirley Wentworth showing up with a son who looks identical to Master Sterling was her way of staking her claim."
The color drained from Shirley Wentworth’s face, her expression shifting rapidly. It was quite a sight.
"Miss Quinn, I get the feeling you have a big problem with me."
Vivian Quinn laughed out loud. "It’s not a feeling. I do have a problem with you."
Shirley Wentworth: "..."
The atmosphere instantly froze, becoming exceptionally oppressive.
Vincent Wentworth walked up to Vivian Quinn and said, "Miss Quinn, I apologize on my sister’s behalf for the unpleasantness that occurred today. Fortunately, things didn’t get out of control, and there were no irreversible consequences."
"The banquet isn’t over yet. I hope you can calm down and not let this ruin your mood. I will personally bring Shirley to your home to apologize later."
Vivian Quinn nodded. "I was very fortunate to have met you today, Mr. Wentworth. That’s the only reason the situation didn’t spiral out of control. I haven’t even had a chance to thank you yet. Don’t worry, I can keep things separate. No matter what Shirley did to me, the fact is that you helped me. I’m very grateful and will certainly find a chance to repay you."
"Alright."
"Well then, you all carry on. I’ll be taking my leave."
"I’ll see you out, Miss Quinn."
Vivian Quinn turned to leave, but just as she was about to go, a child suddenly ran in through the doorway, threw his arms around her leg, and cried out excitedly, "Mama, I finally found you!"
