Wasting Money to Become an Immortal-Chapter 405: Strange demons

With the support of the lantern and the golden barrier, it was easy for us to make our way deeper into this valley.

The demonic cultivators and demons didn’t seem like they were able to do a single thing to us as we moved forward.

There were some that tried to attack even though it was clear that none of their attacks had any effects. They didn’t seem discouraged at all by the fact that all of the attacks that had been made previously had resulted in the death of the ones that initiated them.

Of course, the only thing that was waiting for them was death just like with the others.

Only I could see from the look in their eyes that they were doing this with purpose.

It was as if they didn’t care if the consequences of failure was death, they were just that enticed by the reward that they could gain if they were able to kill us.

It really made me wonder just what kind of reward had been offered that would make them this desperate.

It had to be something good for them to be this willing to try even if it meant death.

Death was not a hurdle that was easily surpassed, but it wasn’t as if it was unsurpassable.

Still, they didn’t affect our speed as we headed in deeper into the valley.

It didn’t seem like there was anything that was able to stop us until...

"Stop."

I suddenly said before stopping on the spot and looking in a certain direction.

After I said this, there were two attacks that came from that direction.

One was a spear of blood while the other was a large ball of lava.

Both of these seemed to be suppressed by the lamp when it came close, but it didn’t do enough to completely stop it. Even the golden barrier wasn’t enough to stop these attacks.

"Stop them." I said this before the attacks hit the golden barrier, which was why Gao Fu Shuai and Bing Xin had already started moving before that. Both of them used their own attacks to cancel out these two attacks.

This was after the attacks had been weakened by the power of the lamp and the golden barrier.

That just went to show how powerful this attack was.

If it wasn’t for the lamp and the golden barrier, it would have been very hard for Gao Fu Shuai and Bing Xin to stop these attacks.

I narrowed my eyes to look in the direction that the attacks came from and I was able to pick out the ones that had sent these attacks.

It was a vampire and what seemed to be a demon made of lava.

I had already expected strange demons to appear, but these two certainly were not among the ones that I had expected to appear.

Vampires could technically be considered demons, but in most cases, vampires were too proud to associate with other demons. They wouldn’t work with others, much less be controlled by someone.

And lava demons...well, I really didn’t know much about them since there wasn’t much deep lore on lava demons. They showed up as enemies in games and novels, but they were simply known as demons that were made of lava and molten rocks.

There was never much description about them.

These were completely different from the other demons and demonic beasts that had been attacking us this entire time.

Seeing that their attacks failed, both the vampire and the lava demon moved in different directions.

The vampire seemed to charge forward while the lava demon moved away from us.

It seemed that the vampire wanted to fight in close range while the lava demon was getting away to create some distance between us.

With the abilities that they showed, one might think that the vampire would want to get away to use its blood controlling abilities to attack from afar while the lava demon would come in to surround us with lava. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

But that wasn’t the case.

The vampire created all kinds of blood weapons around itself which it clearly meant to use in close range.

The lava demon released more and more lava around it after it created some distance with us. The lava went forward and soon went to surround us as if it was planning to completely cut us off from escaping.

However, I didn’t panic when I saw them like this.

The system had given me the lamp for a reason after all.

The second ability that the lamp had was the ability to detect demons, which was how I had noticed the vampire and the lava demon when they appeared. The flame inside of the lamp would flicker in the direction of demons when it felt them, which was how it told me where they were.

The third ability...was related to the first ability to purify.

I raised the lamp up high while pointing it at the vampire that was charging forward.

When I did, the light seemed to dim in the surrounding area, while the light in front of the lamp seemed to become stronger. It was as if all the light was condensed into a single point and was released as a beam.

The moment that vampire was hit with this beam of light, red smoke came from the vampire as if it was being burnt.

This purifying light was the concentrated power of the lamp.

"Kill him!" I shouted at the lackeys while pointing the light of the lamp at the vampire.

They were caught off guard at first by this, but they quickly released their attacks at the vampire.

While being suppressed by the light of the lamp, the vampire wasn’t able to do anything. Even the blood weapons that it condensed started to melt from being hit with the light.

So in the end, the vampire was cut into many different pieces by the attacks of the lackeys.

After that, it was the lava demon’s turn.

It had been planning to run, but it couldn’t after the light of the lamp shined on it.

Then in a few swift moves, the lackeys took care of the lava demon just like with the vampire.
