When they came back out, we were all surprised by how close Jiang Yu Ning and Gao Fu Shuai’s mother seemed.

It seemed that they had worked out whatever was between them and had grown closer.

It even seemed like Gao Fu Shuai’s mother had accepted Jiang Yu Ning as a daughter in law.

Only...it didn’t seem like Gao Fu Shuai was interested in her.

Or at least that was what we thought based on how he had acted before.

However, it seemed different this time.

After they came out, he had only been silent for a few minutes before going forward to Jiang Yu Ning’s side to everyone’s surprise. Then to everyone’s further surprise, he suddenly grabbed her by the shoulder.

Jiang Yu Ning was so shocked that she could only stare at Gao Fu Shuai in a daze.

Though that didn’t stop a blush from appearing on her cheeks.

There was even a part of Jiang Yu Ning that wondered if Gao Fu Shuai would...

But he disappointed her by suddenly asking, "Are you alright?"

As he asked this, he started spinning her around and looking at her as if he was afraid that she was injured.

The way that he acted made his mother reveal a bitter smile on her face.

The way that he acted was as if she was some kind of monster that would have hurt Jiang Yu Ning if she was left alone with her.

Though there was a part of her that was amused since she could see that her son was indeed worried about Jiang Yu Ning. At the same time, it seemed that the worry that he felt for her wasn’t a normal kind of worry.

Jiang Yu Ning had a trace of disappointment in her heart before saying in a soft voice, "I’m fine."

Gao Fu Shuai didn’t seem to listen at first, but then he had a relieved look as he gave her a nod.

He turned to his mother and said, "Don’t be so hard on her."

His mother didn’t seem to be offended by this as she said with a chuckle, "Am I your family or is she? No, people say that once someone gets a lover, they care more about them than their own family."

Gao Fu Shuai was about to say something, but Jiang Yu Ning stopped him by pulling at his sleeve.

He looked at her with a guilty look, but he kept silent in the end.

Though it looked like there was some kind of misunderstanding, it also seemed like there was a bit of progress between them.

One might miss it if they didn’t look closely, but it was clear that Gao Fu Shuai was looking at Jiang Yu Ning in a different way. It almost seemed as if he was even paying special attention to her and ignoring everyone around him.

Perhaps this was the step that was needed to push their relationship to the next level.

After entering the house, we found that food had already been prepared and there was a banquet that was waiting for us.

Jiang Yu Ning explained that she had done a bit of cooking with her mother in law, which shocked Gao Fu Shuai.

"I’m sorry for putting you through this." He said in an apologetic voice.

However, Jiang Yu Ning said with a smile, "It was fun cooking with mother in law."

Gao Fu Shuai looked even more awkward when he heard this.

With the way that he was looking at her, it was almost as if he was going to take responsibility for labeling her as a daughter in law on the spot.

But he held himself back in the end.

While everyone was engrossed in watching the relationship develop between the two of them, I took this chance to slip out.

Liu Ao Xue and Mu Bao Bao were the ones that stopped me from leaving.

"Where are you going?" Liu Ao Xue asked with one brow raised.

I wasn’t perturbed by this as I calmly said, "I’m just going out for a walk. I want to work off some of what I ate."

The two of them narrowed their eyes to look at me, but I just kept that same calm smile on my face as I looked at the two of them.

It didn’t seem like they were able to find anything wrong with what I said, but it was clear by the looks on their faces that they felt that something was wrong. It seemed that they were completely questioning what I was planning to do.

Seeing this, I knew that there was only one thing that I could do.

With a calm look on my face, I asked them, "Do you want to come with me then? I’m just going for a walk around the village to see the place where Gao Fu Shuai grew up."

The two of them looked surprised when they heard this as if they didn’t expect me to invite them.

Only they knitted their brows again when they heard what I had to say next.

In a softer voice, I said, "If you come with me, you’ll most likely miss what is about to happen between the two of them."

Both Liu Ao Xue and Mu Bao Bao turned back to look at Jiang Yu Ning and Gao Fu Shuai when they heard this.

The two of them were very interested in how their relationship would turn out, shown earlier by how carefully they watched the two of them. This was something that I didn’t miss, which was why I was using it against them now.

After hesitating for a bit, the two of them agreed to let me walk around on my own.

After all, this was just a small village, so it wasn’t as if there was anything that was here.

They didn’t think that I would be able to get up to any trouble while I was here.
