Wasting Money to Become an Immortal-Chapter 350: He’s an idiot
Gao Fu Shuai’s mother made some tea, though it couldn’t be considered good quality tea since they were common farmers.
It was better to call it weeds rather than tea with the standard of tea that we had been drinking.
However, we didn’t look down on it and just simply accepted it since it was her sincerity.
Or at least for me, I found that this kind of tea was better than any expensive tea that I could get from the system.
After she finished making the tea, the attention of Gao Fu Shuai’s mother was completely on Jiang Yu Ning. After hearing what Jiang Yu Ning had said before, it seemed like she had been focused much more on her than anyone else.
But that wasn’t strange since this was her future daughter in law in her mind.
She needed to make sure that she was a good fit for her son.
As for Gao Fu Shuai’s father...it was as if he didn’t exist.
That was just how it was when it came down to sons and daughters.
Mothers were the ones that worried about their son’s partners while fathers were the ones that couldn’t let go of their precious daughters. If it was one of his daughters bringing a guy home, then there was no doubt that Gao Fu Shuai’s father would be the one acting up instead.
But since it was his son, he was more relaxed and trusted his son’s eyes.
"So, tell me about yourself." That was the first thing that Gao Fu Shuai’s mother asked.
Jiang Yu Ning was a bit worried, but she was able to pull herself together to tell them about herself and her family.
Gao Fu Shuai’s mother couldn’t help slightly knitting her brows when she heard about how Jiang Yu Ning and her family lived before, but those brows relaxed when she heard that Jiang Yu Ning was also following me like Gao Fu Shuai.
It seemed that Gao Fu Shuai had been keeping in touch with his family even though he had been following me, so they already knew that he was my lackey.
Since Jiang Yu Ning said that she was following me as well, they knew that she was my lackey as well.
It seemed that they took being my lackey quite seriously with the way that they approved of Jiang Yu Ning so quickly.
I couldn’t help wondering just what kind of things Gao Fu Shuai had told them that they regarded being my lackey that highly.
But at least that meant that it was easier for them to accept Jiang Yu Ning which was a good thing.
"How did the two of you meet?" That was the next question Gao Fu Shuai’s mother asked.
Jiang Yu Ning wasn’t surprised since she had already expected this question.
With a calm look she talked about how Gao Fu Shuai had saved her.
Though she wanted to keep a calm look on her face, there was no hiding the emotions that snuck out as she talked about how Gao Fu Shuai saved her. It was clear to anyone that saw her face that she was clearly thinking of something else as she said this.
Gao Fu Shuai also revealed a strange look when he heard her say all of this.
When she was done, there was only silence that followed.
Gao Fu Shuai was the one that broke this silence by turning to Jiang Yu Ning to say, "Thank you for this, but..."
He didn’t get to finish his words as his mother suddenly cut him off by saying, "Alright, you can go out for a bit. I want to talk to this daughter in law of mine alone for a bit."
Gao Fu Shuai looked like he wanted to say something, but the way that his mother looked at him made him back down in the end. He had no choice but to look at Jiang Yu Ning with an apologetic look.
Jiang Yu Ning didn’t seem to mind as she gave a firm nod to him as if she was saying that it was fine.
This just made Gao Fu Shuai’s expression turn even uglier.
He felt that he was wronging Jiang Yu Ning in some way like this...
But there was nothing that he could do about this since it seemed like his mother was insistent on this.
In the end, all of us left except for Jiang Yu Ning and Gao Fu Shuai’s mother.
When we came out, Gao Fu Shuai looked at me as if he wanted something from me, but I wasn’t that crass that I would listen in on a private conversation like this.
It was one thing when we did it to help Bing Xin, it was a completely different thing to listen in on the conversation that the two of them were having.
So I just ignored the way that he looked at me.
Seeing that I wouldn’t help, Gao Fu Shuai just looked at the closed door with a concerned look on his face.
...
Inside of the room, there was just Jiang Yu Ning and Gao Fu Shuai’s mother sitting there in silence.
Gao Fu Shuai’s mother was looking at Jiang Yu Ning with a calm look on her face which put Jiang Yu Ning in an awkward position.
She didn’t know what to do seeing Gao Fu Shuai’s mother like this.
It almost felt suffocating since there was nothing that she could do.
But after a long silence, Gao Fu Shuai’s mother suddenly asked, "Did that boy ask you to do this?"
Jiang Yu Ning was surprised by this question, but she quickly shook her head and said, "No, no, I’m the one that chose to say that to help him. It isn’t his fault at all, rather it’s my fault since I’m the one that forced him into this..."
Her voice trailed off near the end since she could see Gao Fu Shuai’s mother looking at her with narrowed eyes.
After another long silence, Gao Fu Shuai’s mother said, "I see, so it turns out that he’s an idiot."
