Chapter 50: Treehouse Upgraded

After waking up, Vikram didn’t stretch or even sit idle for a moment. His first instinct was to check the Plant Essence generation.

A faint green interface shimmered before his eyes as he began mentally calculating.

At present, his territory had already grown far beyond its earlier fragile state.

He now possessed 30 Spikevine, 30 Thornvine, and 30 Bloodvine forming layered defensive belts around his territory.

In addition to the defensive vines, his mobile plant combat units had also increased in number and strength.

There was one Level-4 Guardian Sprout, one Level-4 Warrior Sprout, one Level-3 Healer Sprout, and the newly awakened Fire Mage Sprout.

Furthermore, he had recently obtained two Archer Sprouts, which had just matured and were still at Level-1, quietly waiting for battle experience.

As for the two newly planted Mage Seeds, they were still in their growth phase and would require another full day before reaching maturity.

So for now, Vikram excluded them from his calculation. He began running the numbers calmly in his mind.

From the defensive vines alone: Spikevine generated 3 Essence each, total 90 Essence per day

Thornvine generated 10 Essence each, total 300 Essence per day

Bloodvine generated 25 Essence each, total 750 Essence per day

Just from stationary defense plants, he was already gaining, 1140 Plant Essence daily

Then came the mobile sprout units.

Guardian Sprout and Warrior Sprout (Lv-4) bring 21 Essence. Healer Sprout (Lv-3) brought 18 Essence. Fire Mage Sprout brought 30 Essence. And both Archer Sprouts brought 24 Essence.

Adding the mobile unit output he got 114 Essence daily.

And then the other few plants of the territory. Lightfly Vine which generates 20 Plant Essence, Aquaheart Root, which gives 30 Plants Essence, Warmheart Ember Moss, which created 5 Plants Essence and lastly the 10 Lumen Reed Seed, which generates 30 of Plants Essence.

In total, Vikram territory now generates 1339 Plant Essence per day.

When that number fully registered in his mind, a wave of satisfaction rose within him.

For the first time since entering the Wasteland, he felt that his growth had become stable and sustainable.

But that pleasant feeling didn’t last long.

Soon, his thoughts shifted to something more practical.

The Treehouse.

It was the true heart of his territory.

Every defensive plant, every sprout unit, every future expansion... all of it ultimately depended on the Treehouse level and its Core authority.

So Vikram made a decision almost immediately.

"First priority... level up the Treehouse."

The Treehouse level up requirements quickly appeared before his eyes.

Treehouse Core Level 4, met the requirement. Daily Plant Essence generation, required 500. Current Generation, 1254.

There was nothing left to hesitate about.

Without wasting even a second, Vikram mentally confirmed the level up.

A large portion of his accumulated Plant Essence vanished instantly, as if swallowed by the earth itself.

Then... The vines around the tall purple Treehouse began to tremble.

Roots under the soil shifted like living serpents.

Wooden walls expanded outward with a deep creaking sound.

New layers of bark-like structure formed automatically.

Within less than a minute, the transformation was complete and Level 2 Treehouse had appeared.

It was noticeably larger and sturdier than before. The trunk had thickened. The surrounding aura of territory authority felt denser, almost tangible.

Vikram’s eyes lit up with interest.

But just as he was about to carefully inspect the new structure...

Another thought struck him.

"What about the next level?"

He quickly opened the panel. And saw next level up requirement:

It still needs the Treehouse Core at the same level, but the daily Plant Essence generation requires 1000.

And since he Plants Essence generation was over 1000, he didn’t think for a second, and quickly level up again.

Once more, Plant Essence was consumed in massive quantity, and the Treehouse underwent a second rapid evolution.

Branches stretched outward like expanding veins.

The upper canopy widened, forming natural platforms. The root network beneath the soil deepened its influence zone.

Soon Level 3 Treehouse stood before him.

Now the structure truly began to resemble a territorial command center, not just a shelter.

However, when he checked the requirement for the next level, his excitement cooled slightly.

Because level 4 requirement was daily Plant Essence generation 2000.

Vikram clicked his tongue softly.

"That will take time..."

Even though his income was already high, doubling it was not something that could be achieved overnight.

Moreover, he had discovered another limitation yesterday.

When he tried planting additional Spikevine, Thornvine, or Bloodvine, the system had directly rejected him.

It showed that the same types of plants can’t exceed more than 30. To increase the limit, he needs to upgrade Treehouse Core.

So even if he had seeds and Essence,

he couldn’t expand endlessly without upgrading the Core authority first.

Vikram let out a slow breath.

"Well... future problem."

For now, he pushed all calculations aside.

His gaze returned to the newly evolved Treehouse.

A faint curiosity and anticipation rose inside him.

After all...

This was his true base. His first kingdom in the Wasteland.

With steady steps, Vikram walked forward,

ready to inspect what changes the Level-3 Treehouse had brought.

The evolution of the Treehouse was not earth-shattering in appearance, yet the functional transformation it brought was undeniably profound.

Vikram stood beneath the towering banyan structure, silently observing.

The trunk had grown thicker and darker in tone, its bark layered like overlapping armor plates.

Subtle vein-like patterns pulsed faintly with plant energy.

On the third floor, four strange organic constructs had formed, they resembled plant-grown gun turrets, their vine-woven barrels quietly tracking the surroundings as if alive.

More shocking, however, was the change in the hanging vines.

Previously soft and flexible, they were now dense and metallic in texture, like living iron chains.

When Vikram focused his will, he could feel a faint resonance...

As if these vines were extensions of his own arms. He immediately opened the updated panel.

Tall Treehouse (Purple)

Type: Special Plant Territory Structure

Grade: Purple

Status: Healthy

Level: 3

Upgradeable: Yes

Daily Plant Essence Generation: +150

Level-Up Requirement

• Daily Plant Essence Production 2000

• Treehouse Core Level Up

Structural Upgrade Requirement (Major Evolution)

• Treehouse Level 10

• Plant Essence × 10,000

• Territory Plant Count ≥ 100

Description: A highly mutated Banyan-Core Territorial Structure that has evolved beyond its original biological limitations. It functions as the central nervous system, command hub, and life-anchor of the Host’s territory.

The Treehouse is no longer merely a shelter. It is a semi-sentient plant fortress, capable of autonomous defense, environmental regulation, and large-scale plant coordination.

Territory Effects

(Effective Range: approx. 11 × 12 × 11 area via Treehouse Core Root Network)

• Plant Growth Acceleration: +15%. Growth speed increases further as Treehouse level rises.

• Mutation Enhancement: Higher probability for plants to undergo beneficial evolution.

• Environmental Concealment: Territory aura distorts visual perception and suppresses energy signatures from distant observation.

• Rainfall Dispersion Canopy: Dense upper foliage reduces impact of storms, acid rain, and snowfall accumulation.

• Soil Stabilization Root Web: Deep root network reinforces terrain structure, preventing erosion and sink collapse.

• New Defensive Evolution — Torrent Vine Turrets: Organic gun-like plant weapons now grow at the four directions of the third floor.

Automatically generate 100 bio-energy bullets periodically. Detect hostile intent and lock onto suspicious intruders within the Treehouse perimeter. Capable of rapid burst suppression fire. Accuracy increases inside territory influence. These turrets function like living sentry weapons, requiring no manual operation.

• The Lightfly Vine has merged fully with the Treehouse core. Continuous internal illumination, no fuel or resource required. The host can mentally adjust brightness and lighting zones. Retains original Lightfly functions such as minor energy attraction and night visibility enhancement. The Treehouse now possesses permanent bio-luminescent lighting.

The Warm-Heart Ember Moss has fused with the internal structure. Host can regulate Treehouse temperature between +20°C to +50°C. Prevents freezing during extreme cold disasters. Provides mild vitality comfort effect for resting occupants

• Iron-Heart Command Vines. All outer hanging vines have undergone density evolution. Vine hardness comparable to forged iron. Can be mentally controlled by the Host for grabbing, lifting objects, and binding enemies. Acting as auxiliary combat limbs.

System Evaluation: "You are now slightly more advanced than primitive cave-dwelling monkeys. Congratulations."

Vikram didn’t even react to the usual mockery.

By now, the System’s sarcasm felt like background noise in his life.

Carrying the baby goat in one arm while Pinku and the noisy chicks trailed behind him, he walked toward the open training ground near the Treehouse roots.

The scene he witnessed made him pause... then almost laugh.

The Guardian Sprout was sitting cross-legged on the ground in absolute calm, like a silent monk who had detached himself from worldly matters.

Its entire appearance had evolved.

The once rough bark-like limbs had smoothed into a more humanoid structure, faint greenish skin replacing coarse vine textures. Its height had increased noticeably, and the massive shield that used to drag along the ground now rested elegantly across its back, glowing with a soft emerald aura.

Not far away, the Healer Sprout was animatedly waving its vine-arms while making continuous chirping sounds.

Although Vikram couldn’t understand its words, it was obvious the sprout was enthusiastically "introducing" the territory to the newly grown Archer Sprouts, proudly pointing toward the Treehouse, the defensive vines, and the farmland as if explaining the glory of their homeland.

Meanwhile, the real chaos was unfolding ahead.

The Warrior Sprout stood locked in intense sparring with the Fire Mage Sprout.

Streams of blazing Bullet Fire streaked through the air like red comets, only to be narrowly dodged by the Warrior Sprout’s swift movements.

Occasionally, the Warrior Sprout would counter with a flashing vine-blade strike, forcing the Fire Mage to retreat half a step before launching another burst.

The Warrior Sprout body has also evolved, taller, broader, and far more humanoid than before. He no longer resembled simple animated plants; he looked like living soldiers, the same as Guardian Sprout.

From time to time, a fire blast would graze the Warrior Sprout’s arm or shoulder, leaving faint scorch marks.

Yet even while continuing its animated "lecture," the Healer Sprout would casually release soft green healing waves that floated across the air and sealed the injuries almost instantly.

Training... injury... healing... counterattack.

The cycle repeated like a disciplined battlefield drill.

Then suddenly, all the sprouts noticed Vikram.

In perfect unison, they stopped what they were doing.

They straightened their posture, turned toward him, and performed a synchronized salute, sharp, respectful, almost military in precision.

Vikram felt a strange surge of emotion in his chest. A mixture of pride... astonishment... and a faint realization.

Their intelligence was evolving.

And they no longer felt like mere summoned units. They felt like a growing army that acknowledged him as their commander.

Silently, he opened their status panels. There were no sudden awakenings of new abilities this time — only stable and tangible growth.

The Guardian Sprout had successfully reached Level 4.

Its daily Plant Essence generation increased from 18 to 21, and its defensive capability had strengthened slightly.

The requirement for its next level had also risen, it would now need 40 points of combat experience to grow further.

However, the most noticeable change was in its physical attributes. After leveling up, every core stat received a +5 boost, making its current physique:

Strength: 35

Speed: 20

Stamina: 38

Reaction: 32

The Warrior Sprout experienced almost the same pattern of growth as Guardian Sprout. Its offensive efficiency increased slightly, making its attacks sharper and more decisive than before.

Its improved physique now stood at:

Strength: 37

Speed: 34

Stamina: 36

Reaction: 33

Compared to the Guardian Sprout, its aura felt more aggressive — like a blade that had just been reforged.

Meanwhile, the Healer Sprout also completed its evolution into Level 3. Its daily Plant Essence generation rose from 13 to 18, reflecting a steady increase in its support capacity.

Its current physique had stabilized at:

Strength: 20

Speed: 22

Stamina: 24

Reaction: 21

Next Level Requirement:

• Support Experience +30

Though still not suited for direct combat, the Healer Sprout’s vitality output and recovery efficiency had clearly improved.

Its healing waves now felt denser, more nourishing, like warm sunlight spreading across wounded soil.

Overall, Vikram could sense it clearly. His plant squad had not undergone flashy breakthroughs...

But they had become stronger, steadier, and far more dependable than before.

Then he looked towards the newly appeared Sprout.
