Chapter 81 -79: They Disappeared
“Qinghe, thank you for saving me,” Yan Changsheng broke the silence.

Shen Qinghe glanced back at him, “You saved me first, I was merely returning the favor. There’s no need for thanks.”
Besides, she had to save him. To her, Yan Changsheng was nothing more than a spiritual energy supplier after all.
Recalling the chaotic past, Yan Changsheng’s eyes darkened, “I wronged you before…”
Shen Qinghe slowed her pace, this time she didn’t look back, “Since it’s in the past, then it’s all gone. There’s nothing to talk about.”
On that year’s Qixi, it was supposed to be her death anniversary. Though she was but a mortal, that battle granted her an immortal fate, which became her fortune.
The past events are like the deceased of yesterday.
The current Yan Changsheng, to her, was nothing more than a fellow disciple with past grievances. Nothing more.
Yan Changsheng watched the girl’s slender and straight silhouette, feeling a surge of complicated emotions and a warmth in his eyes.
He knew that he and she could never go back to how things were before.
The little girl who liked to cling to him had gone, never to return. He had pushed her away with his own hands, now impossible to find again.
They hadn’t walked much farther when they heard earth-shaking footsteps.
Upon hearing such a commotion, they both stopped in their tracks, a bad premonition washing over them.
And it wasn’t just their imagination. Before long, numerous gigantic mythical beasts were running towards them.
Yan Changsheng and Shen Qinghe looked at each other, conveying the same message through their eyes, if they wanted to survive in The Abyss, it would be no easy feat…
Meanwhile, at the summit of The Abyss, Nan Sheng couldn’t believe that Yan Changsheng, in order to save Shen Qinghe, had jumped into The Abyss without considering the consequences. She cried until her throat was hoarse, yet still, there was no sign of Yan Changsheng coming back.
About a Shichen later, when there was still no trace of Yan Changsheng, she ran desperately to seek help, aiming to rescue Yan Changsheng from The Abyss.
After stumbling along for a long while, she finally came upon Xiao Chen lying unconscious on the ground.
“Brother Xiao, wake up!”
Xiao Chen slowly opened his eyes, feeling dazed, and saw Nan Sheng’s face marred with tear stains.
In a blur, he still remembered the last scene in Snow Bone City, the image of Dongfang Wuya and Shen Qinghe on the bed, their clothes disheveled, entangled in an intimate embrace. After that, he lost consciousness.
“Brother Changsheng fell into The Abyss because of that wicked woman Shen Qinghe, Brother Xiao… Save Brother Changsheng…” Nan Sheng sobbed incoherently.
“Qinghe?” Xiao Chen finally snapped out of his daze, grabbing Nan Sheng’s wrist and asking.
Nan Sheng forgot she was crying, staring blankly at Xiao Chen.
“I’m asking you, where is Qinghe?” Xiao Chen asked urgently.
Nan Sheng felt a heaviness in her heart. If she could still delude herself before with the thought that she was overthinking things, at that moment, she couldn’t lie to herself anymore. Xiao Chen’s feelings for Shen Qinghe truly were different from others.
He didn’t even worry about Brother Changsheng’s life or death, he only cared about Shen Qinghe’s whereabouts.
“Qinghe also fell into The Abyss,” Nan Sheng said hoarsely, suppressing the hatred in her eyes.
Xiao Chen only cared about Shen Qinghe. Brother Changsheng had also recklessly chased after Shen Qinghe down into The Abyss. They were supposed to be her men; how could they transfer their affections?
“Lead the way, I will rescue them!” Xiao Chen said gravely.
Nan Sheng really wanted to ask him, was he going to rescue them, or did he only want to rescue Shen Qinghe?
She certainly didn’t want to rescue Shen Qinghe, but Brother Changsheng had also fallen into The Abyss, and she dared not delay, leading the way.
But although it was the same road, the terrain was all wrong, and they couldn’t see the abyss where Yan Changsheng and Shen Qinghe had fallen.
Xiao Chen could see something was amiss, too, and asked in a deep voice, “Are you sure this is the way?”
“It is this way, I couldn’t possibly remember it wrong. It was clearly the mountaintop here before, and past it was The Abyss. How could the terrain have changed?” Nan Sheng carefully observed their surroundings, growing increasingly anxious.
Xiao Chen, however, did not trust Nan Sheng very much.
Nan Sheng had never liked Shen Qinghe, and coupled with her malicious nature, he suspected that this woman might have done something to Shen Qinghe. Or perhaps, Nan Sheng didn’t really want to rescue Shen Qinghe at all.
“Did Shen Qinghe’s fall into The Abyss have anything to do with you?” Xiao Chen suddenly asked.
Nan Sheng didn’t expect Xiao Chen to ask such a question. Her expression froze briefly, and Xiao Chen immediately saw through her, “Did you push Qinghe into The Abyss?”
Of course, Nan Sheng wouldn’t admit to such a thing.
If they could not find The Abyss, neither Yan Changsheng nor Shen Qinghe were likely to survive, and she had to keep this secret at all costs. She could not let anyone else know, including Xiao Chen.
What did it matter if Xiao Chen suspected her? He had no evidence in his hands.
“How could that be, how could Brother Xiao suspect me?” Nan Sheng sobbed softly, playing the victim. “Brother Changsheng is missing, potentially dead, yet Brother Xiao is doubting me at such a critical moment…”
For the first time, Xiao Chen found Nan Sheng to be very annoying, and he couldn’t have misread her stunned expression. Without any doubt, Qinghe’s plunge into The Abyss had everything to do with Nan Sheng.
“Whether it is or isn’t the case will be clear when Qinghe returns. I believe they are blessed by the heavens,” said Xiao Chen before continuing to survey the landscape.
He began to suspect whether Yan Changsheng and Shen Qinghe had fallen into another Illusory Realm, just like Snow Bone City before.
If they could emerge from Snow Bone City’s Illusory Realm, Shen Qinghe should also be able to walk out of another Illusory Realm.
Xiao Chen continued searching for a month, yet still could not find The Abyss Nan Sheng had spoken of.
He did not want to give up, but Nan Sheng was losing patience.
She even felt that this was a predicament Yan Changsheng had brought upon himself. If it wasn’t for Yan Changsheng interfering, recklessly diving down into The Abyss to save Shen Qinghe, he wouldn’t have met this disaster.
Attempting to rescue Shen Qinghe right in front of her face, is this how Yan Changsheng treated her? If he were to die on those cliffs, then it was his fate.
Just to find the two of them, she had wasted a full month’s time here, missing out on all chances, while Xiao Chen still wanted to continue wasting time.
“Brother Xiao, we can’t keep waiting here indefinitely after such a long time; perhaps we should look in other areas. Maybe they’ve already come out somewhere else by now?” Nan Sheng suggested to Xiao Chen.
Xiao Chen’s brow furrowed slightly, “If you wish to leave, then go. I will keep searching in this area.”
Nan Sheng became angry upon hearing this, blurting out, “Is Brother Xiao insisting on staying here because of Brother Changsheng, or is it because you can’t bear to leave Qinghe behind?”
Don’t think she was unaware — what Xiao Chen cared about was whether Shen Qinghe was dead or alive.
“Changsheng is my fellow disciple, Qinghe is my Junior Sister, and both are people our Master cares about. As they are missing, I cannot simply leave,” Xiao Chen said indifferently, not at all surprised by Nan Sheng’s coldness and indifference.
No matter how much Yan Changsheng loved Nan Sheng, what difference did it make? Nan Sheng was still quick to give up searching for Yan Changsheng.
To Nan Sheng, the person she loved most was always herself.

Heh, the whereabouts of Wuya will be revealed this morning, yet none of you are guessing properly, how contemptible.
