Chapter 336: Chapter 336 Gu Yan is Dead

The woman was startled and hurriedly dragged Gu Yan to the side, trying to stay as far away from the car as possible.

But it was too late. At the most critical moment, the woman let go of Gu Yan and gave her a strong push aside. Gu Yan fell, rolled several times on the ground, and hit her head on the stone steps again, losing all consciousness.

"Boom!" Gu Yan’s car exploded with a roar, causing panic in the entire area.

Gu Yan was also within the range of the explosion’s impact, her whole body thrown out once more by the blast.

Yan Shuo’s car happened to pass by, and upon seeing the explosion, he frowned. A quick glance revealed Gu Yan lying there, covered in blood.

At first, he couldn’t be sure, but felt a sense of familiarity. Upon taking a closer look and recognizing it was Gu Yan, he was utterly shocked.

Ignoring everything else, he got out of his car, picked Gu Yan up, and placed her in his vehicle, intending to turn around and head to the hospital, only to find all routes were blocked.

He cursed in frustration, got Gu Yan out of the car again, and hurriedly made his way to the hospital.

The waiting time was excruciating.

Ever since Gu Yan left, Tang Yuxiu had felt uneasy.

Feeling restless, he kept pressing the remote control, and after about twenty minutes, he couldn’t resist trying to call Gu Yan. He found her number, only to remember she didn’t have her phone with her.

He continued fiddling with the remote, glancing at his phone now and then, hoping she’d call him when she got back.

He was waiting, constantly waiting.

He switched to the latest news channel, where they were reporting a chain car accident under the overpass.

Tang Yuxiu watched the horrific scenes, and the unease in his heart grew stronger.

That overpass, he thought, seemed to be on Gu Yan’s way back!

His heart thudded, and he strained to spot Gu Yan in the limited footage on the TV.

But she wasn’t there.

Feeling restless, Tang Yuxiu grabbed his car keys and headed to the accident site.

He didn’t even bother to turn off the TV. As he stepped out, the reporter on the TV was updating about the situation, "According to preliminary rough statistics, the accident resulted in eleven injuries sent to the emergency room, and three fatalities..."

Driving at maximum speed, Tang Yuxiu reached the scene in the shortest time possible.

The area was cordoned off by police, with traffic officers maintaining order among the vehicles.

Tang Yuxiu parked his car, hurried to the site, but was stopped by the police.

"I’m looking for someone. She was at the accident site."

The officer said, "The injured from the site have all been sent to Renxin Hospital. If you’re looking for someone, try there."

Unwilling to give up, Tang Yuxiu really wanted to search around. What if someone was overlooked?

"I don’t know if she’s injured or not. Officer, could you please check if someone named Gu Yan is at the site?"

"Gu Yan?" The officer tried to remember but shook his head. "Nothing comes to mind."

Tang Yuxiu secretly sighed in relief and was about to head to the hospital when another officer approached, "Are you looking for someone named Gu Yan?"

Tang Yuxiu paused and nodded, "Yes."

"Is she a female, wearing a white top?"

Tang Yuxiu’s heart tightened again, "Yes."

"I know her. She was found at Song Hospital covered in blood, within the explosion range. You couldn’t even recognize her original appearance. We don’t know if she’s still breathing, and even if she is, we don’t know if she can survive. If you’re her friend, hurry to the hospital to check. Delay may mean no chance at all."

A colleague counted the injured and deceased. He didn’t know which list Gu Yan was on.

Listening to the police, Tang Yuxiu’s mind exploded, isolating him from everything outside.

He couldn’t articulate how he felt now, or if he felt anything at all.

His mind echoed the officer’s words: If you’re late, there might be no chance...

How could this be... It’s impossible!

Tang Yuxiu’s hands trembled as he turned around, unaware of how he reached his car.

Qiu Ye had arrived at this moment, catching a glimpse of Tang Yuxiu’s staggering figure, frowning in puzzlement.

She approached the officer, "What did that person come here for?"

"Officer Qiu, that gentleman was looking for someone, but it seems the person he’s looking for is seriously injured, possibly deceased."

Qiu Ye frowned tighter, "Do you know who he’s looking for?"

"Someone named Gu Yan, a female."

Qiu Ye’s face changed drastically, staggering as she asked, "Have the injured and deceased been sent to Renxin Hospital?"

"Yes."

Qiu Ye didn’t care about anything else, calling Guangzi, "You handle things here, I have to leave."

Before Guangzi could respond, she hastily got into her car and sped towards Renxin Hospital.

Please don’t let it be the worst. Gu Yan, you have to be okay.

Tang Yuxiu and Qiu Ye arrived at the hospital one after the other. As Tang Yuxiu was inquiring at the counter, Qiu Ye rushed up and spoke first.

"Nurse, may I ask if a patient named Gu Yan has just been brought in?"

"Gu Yan? We don’t have a patient by that name..."

Both sighed in relief, assuming there had been a mistake at the scene.

But then the nurse asked, "Are you asking about those brought in from the chain accident under the overpass?"

The two paused, and Qiu Ye nodded, "Yes."

After thinking for a moment, the nurse said, "We don’t have a patient named Gu Yan here, but I saw that name on the list of the deceased."

The nurse’s words struck them like a bolt of lightning.

Tang Yuxiu’s fists clenched tightly. If it weren’t for the fact that the person in front was a woman, he might have already grabbed her by the collar.

"Are you sure there’s a deceased named Gu Yan?" Tang Yuxiu strived to suppress his emotions.

Frightened by his expression, the nurse gulped, "I did see the list. There are three deceased, two females and one male. One is an elderly person; the one you’re asking about is likely the other young woman. She was covered in blood when brought in and was confirmed to have no breath or heartbeat."

"She’s telling the truth. The deceased was wearing a white top. Being so close to the exploding car, the body was mangled, but there was a wallet on her. Gu Yan’s ID was inside." Another nurse passing by informed them.

Tang Yuxiu’s mind went blank. He could only ask dazedly, "Where is she?"

"Sent to the morgue. They’ll announce the deceased’s identities soon for recognition."

Tang Yuxiu slowly walked towards the elevator, devoid of any vitality.

Qiu Ye was trembling all over.
