Chapter 183: Chapter 182 Genetic Society

The vast Universe.

At the border where the Sky Zone and the Star Zone meet.

A ring nebula, 5,000 light-years in diameter, is slowly rotating.

At the center of the ring nebula lies a Black Hole, surrounded by a cluster of bright Constant Stars spanning about 500 light-years in diameter, with a rotating ring arm hundreds of light-years wide encircling it thousands of light-years away.

Inside the rotating ring arm, a large amount of interstellar material and glowing Constant Stars form a silver-white ring arm that is relatively dimmer than the central area. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

From the cosmic perspective, the ring nebula consists of a bright golden light sphere in the central area and a silver-white ring arm on the edge, separated by a dark vacuum zone, with a very simple and clear structure. It’s circular and beautiful, as if God drew a circle with a compass, standard and concise, one cannot help but marvel at the wonders of the Universe’s creation!

In this wondrous ring nebula, a special civilization was born.

This special civilization refers to itself as the Ant-man Civilization.

The Ant-man Civilization emerged on an ordinary planet within a Constant Star System inside the ring nebula, with the planet mass similar to Earth.

However, due to different evolutionary environments and conditions, Ant-men are vastly different from humans on Earth.

Adult Ant-men are only the size of an adult human’s lower leg, with a maximum height not exceeding fifty centimeters.

Ant-men are arthropods, equipped with a pair of antennae. Depending on their roles, they may have two or four arms; ordinary Ant-men have a pair of compound eyes, while the Ant Queens in the Ant-man Civilization have three compound eyes and a pair of wings.

These characteristics are already quite unique.

Yet, the truly special aspect of the Ant-man Civilization lies not in its biological structure but in the societal form that emerges from this special life form.

The societal form of the Ant-man Civilization differs from a typical free society and is known as a Genetic Society.

As the name suggests, in a Genetic Society, everything is determined by biological genes, unlike the free societies we are familiar with, where every identity, job, and profession is determined by genetic inheritance.

This means the birth of each Ant-man seals their entire life’s path.

In such a Genetic Society, genetic thinking overrides individual thinking, and even if individual thoughts surpass genetic ones, they are seen as anomalies and executed. Every Ant-man acts within their genetic predispositions, resulting in a rigid, unchanging societal form.

For instance,

In Ant-man society, soldiers, workers, scientists, artists... are all determined by genetic inheritance.

If your father was a scientist, so are you; essentially, you’ll become whatever your father was, with no relation to personal efforts.

To address the raising intellectual needs and societal demands of their species, the Ant-man Civilization slowly evolved from having just four initial divisions of labor to a complex gene system with multiple specialized professions.

Apart from a Genetic Society, the Ant-man Civilization is also a matriarchal society.

Governing and reproduction are solely the responsibilities of the Ant Queen, and due to genetic constraints, no Ant-man can defy the Ant Queen’s commands.

Put differently, in the Ant-man Civilization, the real ruler is the Ant Queen; other Ant-men are merely high-level puppets birthed by her.

The Ant Queen decides what type of Ant-men to produce based on societal needs.

The Ant Queens’ reproductive capabilities are strong; they can lay eggs even without being startled, but eggs that are not resulting from being startled will inevitably hatch into various types of workers or soldiers. These male Ant-men have no reproductive capability due to some genetic defects, but they grow four arms and work continuously from adulthood until death.

Eggs that come from being startled will hatch into males of higher social status.

If the life of the Ant Queen approaches its end, she will then control the process to birth the next generation of Ant Queens.

Every generation of Ant Queen has strong reproductive capabilities; able to lay tens or hundreds of thousands of eggs at once in primitive ages, and with the help of science and equipment as a Level Three Civilization, their reproductive abilities are outrageously amplified, essentially making the Ant Queen a breeding factory.

The eggs are taken to the breeding factory to slowly mature into adults.

This is also why the Ant-man Civilization is matriarchal: fathers are simply not essential or known, with many not existing at all.

In fact, even when it became a Level Two Civilization, the Ant-man Civilization had the opportunity to break away from this traditional mode of reproduction, but the Ant Queen feared that doing so might threaten her position. Therefore, she killed all Ant-men involved in biological studies and fostering individual thinking and strictly controlled biological research.

As the Ant-man Civilization advanced to Level Three, leveraging its vast population (trillions) and technological advantages.

The Ant-man Civilization built millions of Cosmic Battleships, dispatching them to every corner of the Ring Nebula to occupy every planet and marking the Ring Nebula as its territory, voraciously plundering resources.

This time, when the Wandering Star System approached, scientists of the Ant-man Civilization reported immediately to the Ant Queen.

Upon hearing about the appearance of another Alien Civilization, this time a collective life form, the Ant Queen’s three eyes lit up; she immediately ordered the enticement of the collective life form into the ring nebula and then capture it for study.

The Ant Queen was actually interested in breeding with these aliens to see if it could produce a new type of Ant-man.

Previously, the Ant-man Civilization had captured several lower-level civilizations, but the creatures from those civilizations eventually all died.

Of course, half of them died out of fright from the Ant Queen whose exceedingly lavish lifestyle led to grotesque obesity, with layers of fat like giant swim rings making her resemble a mountain of flesh, so repulsive she is hard to address; fortunately, in the Ant-man Civilization, there are no concepts of beauty or ugliness, only genetic repression, otherwise, those sexually capable male Ant-men would have been disgusted to death.

Simultaneously,

The Wandering Alliance was approaching the Ring Nebula while observing its conditions.

Lu Chen, a Constant Star, first sensed the Ring Nebula and found no Celestial Civilization within it, which reassured him.

However, the science team within the Wandering Base observed that there was a biological civilization in the Ring Nebula, with Cosmic Battleships almost throughout the entire Ring Nebula.

Considering this situation, the Wandering Alliance immediately convened a meeting.

It was mainly to discuss the route of the journey since their originally planned route would take them through the Ring Nebula, but now there was a biological civilization inside, possibly of not a low level, which certainly warranted an assessment of the risks involved.

While the Wandering Alliance was assessing the risks, they received a message sent by the Ant-man Civilization.
