After saying those words in a tiny voice, I slowly opened my eyes, where I saw a beautiful woman with silver hair and a face that looked so serene.
Suddenly, the 'Mother' figure wrapped her arms tightly around me.
I didn't know what was going through her mind.
My eyes widened instantly, in disbelief on what had been going on.
"Kairi... come on, let's go to school. It's late, you know."
Her embrace was still so tight, and for some reason, behind my shoulder, it felt wet.
Tears? Could be.
Wait a minute... school? How old am I again?
I wanted to get out of bed if it weren't for her tight embrace right now.
"Mom... come on. I'm grown up now."
My right hand tried to push away the embrace that was too warm for me.
"Huh, just how old do you think you are?"
She asked, staring sharply throughout eyes filled with a murderous intent.
My hair stood on end instantly, not knowing the answer to that. But, all of a sudden...
"Thirteen."
What the f*ck?! I swear to God that wasn't me.
It was as if my mouth had been synchronized with the memory in my brain by the reflex movement from my spinal cord. Yes, it was as if 'someone' had corrected me.
"Oh, thirteen. And you think you're grown up now. hm?"
Her gaze then became increasingly terrifying.
In front of my eyes, she didn't seem motherly at all. More like predatory.
"Ah, what ever. I'm going to shower."
I quickly left her, putting on a poker face, pretending not to care.
"I see. Don't take it too long, okay? You'll be late, sweetheart~"
She teased like a real mother. Not caring of her response, I immediately left the room.
By simply taking a glance of the bedroom's design, it was indeed similar to that 'palace'... which inevitably, made my stomach filled with butterflies.
I woke up in a room that was far from generic.
A red balcony with golden ornaments, a bed that was so comfy, not to mention I saw a rusty black piano placed at the corner near the balcony. Similar but not the same.
Same same but different. That's what I thought.
I then rubbed my head and slapped my cheeks, making sure this was a nightmare.
Wait a minute, am I really getting isekai'd?
I muttered, surprised, not knowing what part was more surprising, the fact that I had been sent to another world or that I was now a 13 years old teenager.
Impossible!
For a moment, out of curiosity, I felt my face and...
Huh?
There seemed to be something pointy on my ears... or, rather that those were indeed my ears. I then ran hurriedly throughout the hall, unknowingly holding my skirt, as I was rushing my pace to find a mirror, which I discovered in the bathroom.
Wait, WHAT?!
I screamed to myself unknowingly. I didn't know whether it was because of my face that was different from before, my own tiny voice, or the shape of my ears,
I didn't know which was more surprising. What is clear to me was, I had been in-denial.
An elf... with silver hair, crystal-like eyes, noble clothes. All of these things seemed uncannily familiar to me. In a brief, these sounded quite similar to the novel I used to read, the one where the protagonist died for so many times to save this cursed elf.
As for the voice...
So soft and tiny, not too surprising considering its similarities to mine at the same age.
So, this is really isekai. But it's crazy, the way I ceased like that just to end up here.
Wait, this wasn't the right time to be amazed or shocked.
I need to know who I really am, the reason why I was sent to this carnage.
And most importantly, why my answers were so synchronized.
Maybe I should try something I usually read in novels or manga at times like this.
"OPEN MENU!"
Nothing appeared. Wait a minute, shouldn't those stats like that appear?
Why can't I do anything?! ARRRGGHH, NO IDEA, THIS IS SO CONFUSING!
I then attempted to spell for other 'commands' that might be useful.
"STATS!"
Again, nothing appeared.
"STATUS!"
Nothing. It seemed pointless, it's been three times anyway. That's the maximum attempt for an experiment. Actually, there are some other ways, namely telepathy and visualization. I then began to imagine and realize the status imagery I was referring to.
Again, nothing appeared, only silence in my brain.
Image projection didn't seem to be my expertise in this world, let alone a gift or cheat.
AH DAMN! SO WHAT NOW?!
So what are my abilities-
THUMP!
My head hit the mirror.
OUCH...
How unfortunate. Let alone stats, I don't even recognize myself anymore.
What should I do? Figuring it out by myself alone? That's nuts.
I then washed my face and rinsed it with water to relieve stress. But then....
KAIRI SELENE ERYNDELL VEYLITH
A name then suddenly appeared.
Wait, is that my name now? Why is it so long?! It rather sounds like mediocre isekai.
And honestly, who would name a character like this?
Who gave me such a tedious name?! What a mad lad. They need to be taught a lesson.
I thought, once again attempting to justify myself. I immediately walked to the room. It appeared that the silver-haired figure who dubbed herself as 'Mom' had left my room. I immediately rummaged through everything inside.
When I opened the drawer, I noticed a rusty brown-colored book with beautiful lily ornaments. I immediately grabbed the book.
But just when my finger made a slight contact with the book, something by all of a sudden was hitting my brain, as if stroking me with something so harmful.
"Ouch..."
WHOOSH!
My head suddenly became vertiginous. Memories slowly began to assemble one-by-one... no, more precisely, it was as if those had been unlocked from a chest.
It's like completing an objective in a game....
I thought, feeling a little dizzy as the broken memory fragments gathered.
Kairi Selene Eryndell Veylith. Half-elf human. Class 2 Mage. A prodigy healer of Aethelgarten Akademiya. At the age of 10, capable of developing magic using science.
Mother. Rieri Eryndell Veylith. Pure human. Also a Mage, yet mysteriously vanished after reaching her glory with alias "The Dreadmaker" defeating various demons.
Father. Ferry Eryndell Veylith. Elf. A talented alchemist healer unable to use magic...
After several attempts, I stood up, was staggered after getting bombarded by those extraneous information. I, who felt so weak, collapsed to the floor instantaneously.
"Kairi! Kairi! Wake up!"
After such a rampant encounter, for once more, I opened my eyes.
Who is this? Oh, my mother.
I thought, after finally regaining consciousness from my stupor.
As I did awake, my first question would be the time spent on my little eventful 'journey', considering it took me so long before I eventually returned to the 'checkpoint.'
"Mom, what time is it? Am I too late to go for school?"
"Why would you ask, my dear? Do you still want to go to school with this condition?"
I nodded, demanding for her to fulfill my insatiable curiosity of this ability.
"It's still seven at the moment, sweetheart. Why did you ask?"
I gasped. The clock did show its short arrow towards seven o'clock when I was awake.
So... what does this mean for me then? Did I just return back to the initial time?
