Chapter 68: The Secret to More Power

KRAAKOOOOM!

Wooden ’splinters’ the size of a spear flew through the air as a chunk of Fahven Bu’uls head exploded as soon as it met Belladonna’s fist. His head whipped to the side as he staggered backwards, tripping over his mighty throne, before his feet finally gave way and the towering oak started to fall.

Trees snapped and the ground rumbled as his massive body crashed down. Before the huge cloud of dust had time to settle, hundreds of vines erupted from the ground and began to wrap around his body.

Each massive vine, nearly as thick as a human was tall, was like nothing more than a shoelace in comparison to the Wooden Titan’s sheer size. Nevertheless, they wrapped around his limbs and formed a noose around his neck, weaving themselves together into natural ropes in an attempt to reinforce themselves.

On the ground nearby, Figg was stood completely still with his staff plunged into the ground before him. He kept his head raised, his eyes glowing completely green as he focused entirely on keeping Fahven Bu’ul in place.

If he had tried this on the first run, he would have collapsed onto the floor in exhaustion just from summoning half of these vines. Even now, he was struggling. Not only was Fahven Bu’ul strong, requiring more effort to keep him down, but Figg could feel his influence worming its way into the vines he controlled.

"DO IT NOW! I DON’T KNOW HOW LONG I CAN HOLD HIM!"

In the air, Belladonna tossed a pair of empty potion bottles into her bag and licked her lips, not wanting to waste a single drop of blood, before glancing at the mangled remains of her arm.

Her fingers were bent in multiple different directions, none of them the right one, and her forearm was more bone dust than solid matter as it hung limply at her side. The Sanguine Essence quickly got to work, snapping her fingers back into place and rapidly healing her arm, but it wasn’t quickly enough.

Even still, she flipped in the air and pointed herself downwards as she blasted forwards once more, streaming through the air like a rocket.

"Vez! I got a broken arm!"

"On it!" Vestra quickly shouted back, letting her disguise fade away like mist. Now that she wasn’t needed to hide that there was two of her for the first phase, the disguise was just a waste of energy.

She pointed her wand at Belladonna, tracking her descent as she mentally visualised the arm that had punched her so many times. Remembering the way it had looked when she respawned, the way her muscles bulged and shifted when Belladonna had carried her.

Then, once the image was complete in her mind, she cast [Placebo] through her wand. One moment Belladonna’s arm was broke, but rapidly repairing itself, the next it was perfectly fine as if it had never been broken in the first place.

Belladonna smirked devilishly, flexing her fingers to get a feel for the ’healed’ arm.

Instead of slamming into Fahven Bu’ul again, she quickly killed her momentum with a flip and landed on his chest, before her arms started to blur. Just like before, Belladonna forced more mana into her arms to feed her Earth Infusion as she yelled at the top of her lungs. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

"MACHINE GUN BARRAGE! ORA ORA ORA ORAORAORA!"

There was no benefit to actually shouting out the moves, as they weren’t actually skills. But everyone knew that shouting your special moves name was what gave them more power.

Her fists moved faster than her party members could see, appearing as if she had multiple hands at once. But that wasn’t Vestra this time, just the pure speed of Belladonna. A crater rapidly formed in the centre of Fahven Bu’uls chest, and which rapidly grew as she tunnelled her way in.

She was like a Kung-fu beaver, carving through the wood with fists of fury. Fahven Bu’ul roared in anger, both at the pain he was experiencing and the sheer humiliation of being pinned down and beaten like a dog.

Figg let out groans as he desperately poured more power into his ensnarement. His mana, even with the help of his new source, was rapidly draining far faster than he could regenerate it.

He had to pull the Source Remnants from his bag, almost letting out a whimper of pain at the thought of using them, before reluctantly starting to drain the mana contained within to feed his spell.

Belladonna grit her teeth as she burrowed through. Her knuckles were covered in splinters and were gushing with blood, adding a red stain to her burrow. But even worse, her arm was starting to throb with pain.

Vestra’s placebo didn’t actually heal. It was an illusion, unsurprisingly. It would boost healing, and put on a false front that made it usable until it was actually healed. But too much abuse and-

With the sound of shattering glass, the illusion around Belladonna’s arm completely collapsed, making her next punch completely useless as she punched with the mangled mush of her once more broken arm.

Belladonna winced in pain, which was thankfully reduced this time, as she glared at the blood filled crevice in the wood. She could see the blood gently trickling away, disappearing into a hole in the bottom as it drained away to the inside of Fahven Bu’ul, but the hole was barely bigger than a pin head.

The snapping of vines drew her attention to one of his arms, as he strained against the ropes binding him so much they started to break. More vines erupted from the ground to replace those that snapped, but Belladonna whipped her head towards Figg and shouted urgently,

"No! Let him get free! Trust me, I have a plan!"

Figg was giving his everything to hold him, so he didn’t have the energy to react. If he did, he would have looked up at her as if she was utterly insane. But instead he just silently obeyed and tried not to fall to his knees in the process.

Belladonna slammed her foot into the blood puddle and activated her flaming foot rune again, blasting it straight into his chest. That seemed to be the final straw that pushed him over the edge.

With a mighty roar of bloodcurdling rage, Fahven Bu’ul tore his arm free of the vines and immediately plunged his fist towards his own chest. Any that dared to burn him deserved to be crushed!

Belladonna watched the colossal fist plummeting towards her, so large that its shadow completely engulfed her, which was exactly what she was hoping for. With a devilish smirk, Belladonna let the fist come close enough that she could feel the wave of air it was displacing, before she dissolved into shadows.
