Virtual Reality Cultivator-Chapter 18: Qi in the Real World
Chapter 18 - 18: Qi in the Real World
Ethan remained seated on his bed, trying to comprehend what he had just experienced. He clenched and unclenched his fists several times, attempting to identify the strange sensation coursing through his body.
"This is impossible... isn't it?"
Qi was supposed to exist only within the game. It was just a system-generated concept—something unreal. Yet, his body felt different. He felt more refreshed, stronger, and most astonishing of all—he could sense something akin to an energy flow within him.
To confirm it, Ethan took a deep breath and attempted to replicate the breathing technique from the Advanced Breath of the Spirit he had learned in the game.
He closed his eyes, calmed his mind, and began regulating his breathing.
One inhale...One exhale...

At first, nothing happened. But after a few moments, he started to feel something faint—a warm current inside him, flowing slowly like a gentle stream.
Ethan's eyes widened. "No way... Is this really Qi?"
He tried to focus deeper, but a sudden wave of exhaustion hit him. His head felt heavy, and he almost toppled off his bed.
"Damn... I pushed myself too hard."
Even so, Ethan now knew one undeniable truth—his experiences in the game had a real, tangible effect on his body in the real world!
"What exactly is Immortal Cultivation VR?"
A Growing Curiosity
After resting for a while, Ethan got up and walked to the kitchen to grab a glass of water. He caught his reflection in the kitchen mirror.
Though only two days had passed in the real world, he felt more physically fit. The dark circles under his eyes had faded, and his muscles felt firmer than before.
"The side effects of this game... aren't normal."
He immediately grabbed his phone and started searching for information about Immortal Cultivation VR.
But to his surprise, there wasn't much in-depth information available. Every article only discussed its realistic features, but none mentioned any side effects like the ones he was experiencing.
Ethan frowned.
"Has anyone else experienced this?"
Suddenly, he remembered something—the Cultivator Chat Group!
Maybe other players had noticed it too. Without hesitation, he opened the app and entered the group chat.
But before he could type anything, a new message appeared.
???: "Welcome back to the real world, Ethan Liu."
Ethan froze. "Who is this?"
The message came from an account with no username. No profile, no message history.
Ethan: "Who are you? And how do you know I just logged out of the game?"
The reply came within seconds.
???: "You're starting to feel something different in your body, aren't you?"
Ethan's heart pounded.
"This person... knows something!"
Ethan: "What's happening? Why can I feel Qi in the real world?"
There was a pause before the next message appeared.
???: "Immortal Cultivation VR is not just a game. It is an experiment. And you... are now a part of it."
Ethan stared at his phone screen, eyes wide.
"An experiment?"
New questions flooded his mind.
What exactly was Immortal Cultivation VR?Who was behind this game? And most importantly... what was truly happening to him?
Ethan's journey was far from over. In fact, he had just entered a new Chapter—one that extended into the real world.
