The crowd went so wild that the Elite Guards the Emperor dispatched could no longer contain them. They surged forward like tides, a series of screams and exclamations shot through the roof. The Beta MC stood on stage with a helpless look. Surely, the match ought to be postponed for a while until the whole situation was brought under control.

"Your Highness Altair, is this a proposal?! Are you proposing right now?!"

"Have you two been together for a long time?!"

Lu Yizhou frowned. So noisy. One question overlapped with the other and in the end, none was registered in his mind except for some random screaming and noisy buzz. And what did they mean by conspiracy? Vexed, Lu Yizhou reached for Oliver’s waist and pulled him closer until their body was flushed against each other, taking the omega off guard. Lu Yizhou had no idea what he was thinking—or maybe he wasn’t thinking at all. Because his head throbbed and his whole body ached. It was annoying and the last thing he wanted was random people spreading doubt about his relationship with Oliver.

So Lu Yizhou did it. He kissed Oliver in front of everyone, with the camera still rolling and broadcasted to the whole kingdom. The crowd abruptly stilled, silent as if someone had just pressed the pause button. Not even a hint of breathing could be heard.

Oliver made a surprised noise in his throat and Lu Yizhou felt his eyelashes tickling his cheeks. His whole body tensed and sensing that, Lu Yizhou let out a strand of comforting pheromones and just like that, Oliver melted into his arms, weight leaning fully against him as he immersed himself into the kiss.

Lu Yizhou’s lips curled into a barely imperceptible smile and he slowly let go, his breath labored. Oliver’s eyes opened, his pupils wide and glassy and he looked up at Lu Yizhou with wonder and adoration as if he had been living in darkness all these while and it was the first time he had ever gazed upon the sun. His attention was sucked into Lu Yizhou and he could see nothing but Lu Yizhou. So adorable that the mere sight of it caused Lu Yizhou’s heart to tighten. The Alpha within him was also satisfied to perceive what kind of effect he had on Oliver.

He let his scent cover Oliver’s body and satisfaction bloomed on his chest when the omega’s body shuddered. Judging from the weight on his arm, Lu Yizhou was sure that Oliver’s knees would have buckled if he let go. Lu Yizhou raised his eyes and caught sight of the camera. It wasn’t exaggerating to say that Lu Yizhou had completely forgotten that they were in a public place and furthermore, the center of everyone’s attention. Just the thought of anyone landing their eyes on Oliver displeased him and he abruptly swept Oliver off his feet, taking the omega into his arms in a tight embrace.

"Let’s go." Lu Yizhou murmured into his ears. "We are done here." Then he opened his wings and flew away. Only then did the crowd snap back to their senses and registered the scandalous scene they had witnessed.

Lu Yizhou’s patience was running thin. Very, very thin. He assumed that even the Principal sensed that, judging from how nervous he looked, fidgeting in his seat as he put on a formal smile. Originally, he thought that he would be able to drop Oliver home before he crashed into Derek’s place but his plan went haywire when the Principal of the school suddenly summoned him into his office. As a result, he had to leave Oliver behind in the Omega’s school building because there was no way Lu Yizhou would have left him all alone in other places when a lot of Alphas were in the school. Their scents were mixed together and it wasn’t good for Oliver’s health to be exposed to another Alpha’s pheromones for a long time. Lu Yizhou wouldn’t do anything that would harm him.

He nodded. "I apologize for my inappropriate demeanor, Principal."

The antelope omega turned to the man by his side and whispered in a voice that echoed out loud throughout the space. His tone was admonishing and he even smacked the man’s arm that was wrapped around his waist. "He doesn’t miss us at all! See how you brought him up?! This is all your fault!"

The Emperor of Versatine coughed and gave his mate a look. He rubbed the omega’s back and murmured soothingly. "Yes, yes, it’s my fault. You can blame me all you want later but let’s talk about important things now, okay?" His voice contained endless patience and despite the omega’s grumbling, he still leaned closer into the Alpha’s embrace. It took one glance to see that both of them were so in love with each other.

Lu Yizhou...Well, honestly he was surprised. He couldn’t recall the memory of his parents anymore and after that, the concept of parents that was instilled in his mind was nothing but demanding, strict and estranged. Maybe that was also why he couldn’t comprehend the thought of spending his life with the same person. He couldn’t understand how two people could come together and accept each other’s flaws and not use them to inflict pain instead. Love was a foreign word for him. Strange and unfamiliar. But now, looking at Altair’s parents, he felt no apprehension. Both of them just felt so...natural. As if that was how they ought to be.

He blinked when The Emperor sent him a glare, oblivious. Was he supposed to say something here? Apparently, he didn’t. The Emperor seemed to have gotten used to the lack of Altair’s response. He turned to the Principal instead. "Thank you very much for taking care of Altair. He has given you too much trouble. And we apologize for not telling you his identity sooner."

"It’s perfectly fine, Your Majesty." The Principal smiled reassuringly and judging from his familiar tone, Lu Yizhou deduced that this wasn’t the first time they had gotten in contact with each other. "His Highness Altair is a very outstanding student and we are very proud to have him here. Today, he even became the champion of Arena Fighting!"

Realization dawned on Lu Yizhou. "You want to talk to me about Oliver." It wasn’t a question.

As he had expected, the Emperor turned to him, displeased. "Your omega father and I saw the live video. Now that you have kissed the poor child in front of everyone, when will you mark him?" Despite sounding nonchalant, there was a hint of gravity in his tone. It didn’t help either when the antelope omega by his side looked particularly excited as he waited for Lu Yizhou’s answer. They had been waiting for this moment for too long! It wasn’t logical for their son to not have a mate when he was looking like that!

Lu Yizhou pressed his lips together. "Oliver’s health is not very well and I’m concerned that—"
