Chapter 1033 - Ten Times the Content, One-Time Price

The playable demo for the "Street Kid" role focused on a chaotic gang fight. The protagonist, alongside a partner named Jackie, engaged in a violent shootout with a rival gang.

Compared to the solo assault shown in the Trauma Team demo, the Street Kid scenario involved squad-based combat. The player could issue simple commands to allies—flanking, distractions, bait tactics—making the combat feel more strategic and layered.

Still, some attendees weren't fully satisfied.

During the earlier showcase, they had seen various other character paths—some of which barely involved combat at all. There were narrative-focused routes relying on dialogue choices, or paths where the protagonist could become a corporate mogul, complete the main story, and rise to power without ever picking up a weapon.

Naturally, many players now wanted to try all of them.

But for now, only the Street Kid role was available for public demo. The team at Yusei Entertainment apologized: while other identities would eventually be playable, the marketing had a rhythm, and revealing everything at once would ruin the build-up.

...

The full release of the game was expected around 2019, leaving over a year of planned marketing activities. Each stage had already been laid out carefully to maximize public interest.

That said, the studio promised that other roles would be made available for trial at different stages of the campaign.

As for pricing, it would not exceed the standard cost of a AAA game—even though this title offered ten times the content.

That reassurance helped calm most of the players.

Soon, attention began shifting to Surai Electronics' upcoming presentation, drawing many players away and sparing Gamestar Entertainment further questioning.

"Hello! Welcome to our newest farming tower defense game."

In the indie developer area, Aiko greeted a curious visitor with a warm smile.

"I saw your trailer earlier at the Gamestar Entertainment booth. It looked kind of interesting, so I thought I'd check it out."

"Really? That means a lot—thank you. Here's a small gift."

She handed the visitor a branded badge for their game—cheap but charming swag like badges, towels, and cards were common giveaways at these events.

After thanking her, the player sat down at a demo station and began trying out the game as Aiko offered guidance.

"Oh, since you were just at the Yusei booth, you must've seen the Cyberpunk 2077 trailer too, right?"

"Of course! That was the highlight of the whole event. Honestly? I think it's the best-looking game I've ever seen."

"Best ever? But it's not even released yet."

"Doesn't matter," the young player laughed, still focused on the game. "They demoed several role paths, and Takayuki himself promised each would have a distinct main storyline—only the endings are somewhat similar. That means every player's experience could be totally different. It's wild."

"If it were out today, I think it'd destroy the competition. No one else could compete."

"Wow, really?" Aiko feigned surprise.

As one of Takayuki's disciples, she and Homemi and Oto had already seen the game in action. Takayuki had shown them many systems—if the final release matched the previews, it was sure to be a masterpiece.

The player sighed. "The only demo available right now is the Street Kid route—lots of shooting and AI coordination. I'm not really into that. I prefer puzzles or slow-building strategy. I want to manage things and let others handle the dirty work."

Aiko smiled. "Then you'll love our games. Our studio specializes in farming and simulation. We've got a few more projects in the works, and this genre will be our focus going forward."

"Exactly why I'm here," the player shrugged.

At that moment, Homemi wandered over, catching part of the conversation. "Is it super crowded at the Gamestar booth right now? Are people scrambling to try Cyberpunk 2077?"

"Absolutely. Even though it's just one role, the demo is incredible. I'm really looking forward to the full version. I heard you can even become a stock market tycoon and dominate Night City's economy. That's the dream, right?"

Hearing that, Homemi turned to leave the booth and head for Gamestar's side—but Aiko grabbed her collar and yanked her back.

"Stay here and promote our game!"

Homemi pouted.

Then the player added, "But I think it's probably quieter over there now. Surai's about to start their own showcase. They've been keeping everything under wraps, and people are super curious—so I bet the crowd's heading that way."

"Ah, that's right. It should be starting now," Aiko said. "Homemi, should we send you over as recon?"

Oto cut in dryly. "Recon for what? Do you really think we're competing with Surai Electronics?"

"Well, we're Takayuki-sensei's students, aren't we? If they're his rivals, they're ours too!" Homemi said proudly.
