Yujun’s POV

"You did it, didn’t you?" lord Hwang asks as he cocks the gun, and lifts it to my head again, this time around he has a calm but terrifying expression on his face...the same look of quiet madness Jaehyun carries on the field.

"No I.." I stutter and he growls to shut me up, "Honey" Yeon calls firmly and holds his husband’s hand to bring down the gun all the while giving the tall Alpha an incredulous look.

"He..." the alpha says and Yeon shakes his head, "stop it! Yujun risked his own life for Jaehyun and myself, how would he have poisoned Jaehyun?" He asks and Lord Hwang presses his lips into a thin line.

"I was with Jaehyun last night and Yujun was there" Yeon adds and Lord Hwang sighs, "You are a nurse, honey, and you didn’t realize it was silver wolfsbane" he points out and Yeon shakes his head again in refusal to his alpha’s logic.

"It’s only logical that he has to do something with it. If not, how does he know?" lord Hwang asks in a low tone, the alpha is addressing Yeon about it but his eyes are trained on me, and out of shame, I lower my head. "I’m sorry" I say as my cheeks burn red.

I am not exactly sure why guilt fills my heart amongst the many reasons why it should. Can it be because I had kissed the same man that got poisoned because of my own family?

Can it be because I had the very first good sleep I’ve had in months right next to the poisoned Alpha, when it is my own clan that put him in that position? 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

I don’t know which it is but all I know is that; I am sorry and I am ashamed.

"Now is not the time to be sorry Yujun-ah" Yeon’s voice breaks me out of my regretful thoughts, "I know you didn’t do anything to hurt him" he says from his husband’s arms. Lord Hwang has a displeased look on his face as his husband addresses me.

"Please let’s work together and help Jaehyun" Yeon pleads, his eyes shining blue as his omega tries to keep his worry at bay and I nod, unable to speak with how choked up I am getting.

What is wrong with me?

When did I get so weak and subject to my emotions?

I blink away the tears starting to well in my eyes away, tears are not a part of me that are regularly seen, I don’t understand why I am tearing up or why I am feeling so sorry for myself.

"We are playing with fire Yeon-ah, I don’t trust this kid, he’s a Choi" lord Hwang says with his eyes still on me, those brown orbs holding me down with a stern glare reminds me of how much Jaehyun resembles him. Lord Hwang looks like an older and more rugged version of Jaehyun.

"I- I just want to see how I can help, I mean no harm..." I say quietly and the alpha sighs "try anything funny and your clan will be short of a member" lord Hwang says and shows me his shotgun as a reminder. "I told you no threatening" Yeon smacks his husband’s back.

Even as I am in a funny position with the Hwangs, I can’t help the smile that blooms on my face from looking at them lovingly flow with each other.

"Let’s go, get him something to disguise with...I don’t want any of his clan members on my back" lord Hwang says, still eyeing me skeptically and Yeon rushes over into his office to pick up his things.

While we wait, the omega man also went to talk to the staff he had kept safe during the attack. I stand awkwardly with my arms folded and Lord Hwang keeps his eyes on me like a prisoner.

The alpha is intense but not as cruel as my father’s presence. It makes me curious about it, is that what makes Jaehyun the playful but kind alpha he is?

"I’m sorry I kept you waiting" Yeon returns with a small bag that I assume to be his and a hoodie hand on his left hand, "Junnah, this is Jaehyun’s, he scented it for me a while back so I keep him around even when he’s not" he says and hands it over to me.

Without questions, I shrug off my suit jacket and put on the hoodie. My omega howls in happiness from having the alpha’s familiar scent on us again.

Covering my face, I follow the Hwang couple into the car waiting outside the hospital. As the driving starts, my phone buzzes in my pants and I pull it out to check, and I see that it is a Kakao message from Yunah asking how I am doing.

The message warms my heart and I smile slightly, my sister makes it a habit to leave me a message whenever we haven’t seen each other for over a day.

"Yah" I feel the hard rim of lord Hwang’s gun against my thigh and I look up in shock, "no phones in here" he says and pokes me with the shotgun again.

"Leave him alone, you" Yeon says tiredly while stifling a yawn, "sit still, I’m sleepy" the omega man says to his husband and Lord Hwang makes himself comfortable enough for him to rest on him.

"We are not done yet" lord Hwang mouths at me and I bow my head, "yes lord Hwang" I say and Yeon opens one eye to peek at his husband, "I told you to leave the kid alone, just hold me" Yeon orders and the alpha complies.

What is the Hwang family really about?

Why are they displaying so much weakness in front of me?

Isn’t it a rule as mafias to never let love come in the way?

The thoughts spin in my mind until I also fall asleep in the car.

I wake up to the car jostling and I open my eyes to see that we are entering through a gate. Smelling something rotten, I sit up straight to see Yeon’s face drained of color and stoic.

"Y-yeon-ssi?" I call and Lord Hwang growls at me with his arms protectively around his husband.

What is happening? I wonder and I look outside to see a number of people gathered in front of a building and that’s when I hear the loud raw roar.

That’s Jaehyun’s voice.

"Lord Jaehyun is going feral! if we don’t save him now, he will die within an hour" someone shouts.
