Jaehyun’s POV

The store is filled with so many things that I don’t know what to do.

I feel like a stranger in a strange pink world.

The ride here was less intense than I expected, my alpha didn’t go out of hand, Yunah kept chattering through it all and Gawon remained quiet, maybe silenced by guilt.

Once we arrived, Yunah suggested going to different parts of the store to make our shopping process faster, but I am lost even at the part of the store that has only girl dresses.

I stand in front of the clothes unsure of what I’m looking at or what to pick

The clothes are all beautiful and small, is this too small? Is it too much? Isn’t this too big?

"Fuck" I curse under my breath and run my fingers through my hair in frustration.

"Why didn’t we ever do this before now?" I ask the dresses in front me like they would have answers to my questions.

"Oppa, did you pick anything yet?" Yunah appears behind me with two pairs of tiny shoes in her hands, and Gawon is behind her with three other shoes in her hands.

I gesture to the clothes, letting her know that I didn’t pick anything, hell, I don’t even know what to pick.

"Nothing?" Yunah exclaims and shoves the shoes into her mate’s hands with a dramatic sigh, "this is why aunties are important, I will let Haeri know that aunty Yunah did it all" she says as she picks out clothes.

My alpha’s agitation returns as he growls lowly and I shove him down, I will not lose control again, I’m a father now...but fuck it, I just want to get out of here and return to my newborn pup and see my mate...

My mind wanders to Yujun and it feels a bit harder to try and stay in control.

"Oppa, being a father mean being present even in your absence, focus!" Yunah scolds and I let out a breath in frustration, really, this is starting to stress me out.

"Fuck" I say under my breath and the overtly lively omega glares at me, "congratulations Oppa, your daughter will be swearing like a professional gangster before she even knows how to say mommy" Yuna says and claps, all the while smiling.

"This one is pretty" I say and pull a dress out, needing to distract Yunah and it ends up working. She gets carried by the dress and starts to gush.

We finish our shopping and pay, leaving the store with so many clothes, shoes and accessories that I am sure we will never use.

Once we arrive home at Hwangyeon, I hand the bags of clothes back to Yunah and Gawon before going to the nursery, I’m sure I’ll find mom there with my pup.

Each step I take toward the place feels like a step into a new life.

I growl softly as the smell of baby milk grows stronger, it’s the smell of our daughter; milk with a hint of jasmine in it...the touch of her mom’s beautiful scent.

’Pup’ my alpha says, and I wipe my sweaty palms on my pants, not sure what to expect...what if she doesn’t like me? what if I pick her up and she cries?

A nurse beams at me as I get closer to the clan hospital’s nursery, I’ve ran so many errands here as a kid, I never imagined my own kid being in here.

I push the wooden door open, and I find my parents looking down at the baby with their mouths open, like they are seeing something that is beyond them.

No more bad news, please, I can’t fucking take any more bad news.

"Mom? Dad? What is wrong?" I ask as I walk into the room and the baby makes a small noise that sounds like a cry.

"Jaehyun...you need to see this" Mom says quietly and I move forward to take the first look at my pup,

The sight of her makes my heart stop for a moment.

She has to be the most beautiful thing I have ever seen after Yujun, but the thing that has us all in awe are her eyes.

Haeri’s eyes are bright red.

"They’re...red" I say and my mom nods, "Jaehyun, that can only mean one thing, she’s a born alpha" mom says and I blink.

My daughter is a born alpha? how is that possible?

"That explains the strength" Mom says and I nod slowly, yes it does, no ordinary child should survive the shit she has survived...my pup is a strong girl.

"We can worry about that later, my love, let Jaehyun meet his daughter" my father says softly and mom carefully gets out of the rocking chair to direct me to sit in it.

"This was where I first met you consciously" mom says and hands the small baby to me.

My eyes widen as I take her in my arms, she’s so small and so pink in the swaddle she’s wrapped in, she makes a face that surprises me.

"Mom" I whisper, holding her gently, "mom..." I say again in awe.

"She feels magical, doesn’t she?" mom asks and I nod repeatedly, dad put his arms around his mate and pulls him close, they look like they were made just for each other.

The baby in my arms moves slightly, like she’s fighting against being wrapped and I smile down at her, she looks like she would be the most loved child in world. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

"Hi, Haeri" I say quietly and she blinks slowly, like she’s responding to me and I let out shaky breath, she is really perfect.

I can’t wait for Yujun to see her, to hold her in his arms too, I can’t wait to see how his eyes will light up when he sees her.

At the thought of Yujun, I feel a sharp sting in my neck and my head snaps up.

"What’s wrong?" mom asks, leaning in to check on the baby, "I just felt..."

The door opens and two nurses burst into the room.

"Luna! Luna! The patient...he- HE FLATLINED" she yells and I freeze.
