Urban's Fury: The War Dragon God-Chapter 1262: Master
"Isn't this Bai Yutang going to be the first unlucky ghost to fall to his death under the Sword Wall?"
Someone said ruefully.
"If so, he brought it upon himself. Does he really think the Sword Wall is something anyone can climb?"
Some onlooking Inner Sect disciples exchanged glances, not sure whether they should admire Bai Yutang's courage or lament his ignorance.
Without an elder overseeing, who dares climb this Sword Wall? Even a fall from a hundred meters would be enough to turn him into a pancake, let alone from several hundred meters up.
Li Feng used telekinesis to insert a bamboo tube into the hole made by his dagger beneath his feet, providing a temporary foothold to ease his arm strength. He glanced downward, noting that his current height was at least over a hundred meters.
The cold, shimmering lights seen from below were only a few dozen meters above him. From afar, they weren't noticeable, but now Li Feng could clearly see that from around 150 to 160 meters upward, many swords were inserted.
Some swords were embedded up to their hilts, while others still had half of their blades protruding, numbering in the hundreds if not thousands.
Just as Li Feng was recovering his strength,
atop the Sword Wall,
Gao Yuanyuan had invited her master, the Seventh Elder of Divine Sword Manor, also the only female among the seven great elders.
"Is this the boy you were talking about?"
"Yuanyuan, you should know, I don't like male disciples."
The Seventh Elder's face was full of disdain, as she turned to lift Gao Yuanyuan's chin with her hand: "You don't really have something going on with this boy, do you?"
"I'm a bit displeased now."
Gao Yuanyuan's aloof cheeks flushed lightly, "Master, he's like a brother to me. Back when there was a car accident at my home, he and his parents were the ones who saved my life, and their recommendation got me into Divine Sword Manor."
"The Bai family's couple saved my life and helped me, how can I, Gao Yuanyuan, not repay them? Master, you wouldn't want to see your disciple as a cold-hearted person, would you?"
The Seventh Elder looked at Gao Yuanyuan's pretty face.
"Hmmph, it's best that way. But you should know I don't like taking male disciples, and yet you recommend him to me?"
"Master, he is indeed a prodigy, and if he becomes your disciple, it wouldn't burden you. I would take care of him myself. I'm mainly worried about him being mistreated by others."
"You also know that the Bai couple are like wandering clouds and wild cranes—they never involve themselves in the villa's affairs, despite being Guest Elders. Their only son is left to fend for himself and has no one to turn to if he's bullied." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
"Alright, alright, you have your reasons."
"Even if I agreed, he lacks the ability. Having just opened his Divine Acupoint, he dares to climb the Sword Wall? It's simply beyond his own strength."
The Seventh Elder didn't take Bai Yutang seriously, let alone the idea of him becoming her disciple.
After all, he wouldn't be able to climb it anyway, so why cause unnecessary friction with her precious disciple?
"Yuanyuan, this master is a bit tired."
Gao Yuanyuan looked at her rather lazy and somewhat sapphic master with helplessness. Although her master had many faults, she also had her strengths; she was powerful and the only female elder, fiercely protective of her own.
Gao Yuanyuan sighed inwardly and stepped forward to massage her seated master's shoulders.
"Hmm, a bit harder."
"Yes, right there. All that card-playing last night left me sore and aching."
Li Feng, having rested for a while, started climbing again. He climbed another thirty meters before stopping to take out a carbon-fiber steel wire. This wire had immense load-bearing capacity and was extremely light. Li Feng used his telekinesis to maneuver the wire, wrapping it around the hilt of a sword located twenty meters above.
Li Feng tugged at the wire, and once it was taut, he grew bolder.
He hadn't used this below to avoid attracting attention. At this height, he no longer had such concerns.
With the mechanism pulling Li Feng upward, he pushed off from the Sword Wall with his toes, climbing rapidly.
The first hundred meters had taken Li Feng at least twenty minutes, but he covered these next twenty meters in just a few seconds.
Once Li Feng grasped the hilt of a sword embedded in the Sword Wall, he untangled the wire and repeated the process.
"Hmph, this Bai Yutang probably won't last much longer,"
"This height should be his limit."
Lin Ao looked up, his face full of an 'I-know-it-all' expression.
"Senior Brother Lin, why do you say that?"
Among the crowd, Huang Shuyao looked at Lin Ao and asked.
"Ha, Junior Sister Huang, you newcomers are all rookies, and even those of you who've been in the Outer Sect for a couple of years probably only heard about the Sword Wall."
"Hmm."
A few Outer Sect disciples nodded.
Lin Ao chuckled lightly; most of these people came from outside, unlike him, who was from the Lin Family.
"Above the Sword Wall is Divine Sword Manor, where the Manor Master and various elders reside, as well as the closed-door disciples."
"To get up there, the Sword Wall is the only passage. The Sword Wall serves as a gate; without sufficient strength, you simply can't ascend."
"Typically, only once you've opened the Divine Acupoint and become an Inner Sect disciple will you learn about the purpose of the Sword Wall, as there's a rule in the manor: within a year of becoming an Inner Sect disciple, if you can climb the Sword Wall unaided, you earn the privilege of being taken on as a closed-door disciple by the Manor Master or the elders."
"Many have attempted it, but those daring enough to challenge it are becoming fewer and fewer, as achieving the ability to climb the Sword Wall within a year of opening the Divine Acupoint is extremely rare."
"Look up at the Sword Wall; above the first hundred meters marks a watershed point, where the initial hundred offer little difficulty. But higher up, do you see the dazzling glimmers on the Sword Wall?"
"Yes, and there seem to be quite a number of them too."
"Hmmph, these are swords left by predecessors on the Sword Wall, as upon reaching those heights, they had to insert their swords into the wall for a temporary respite."
"From over a hundred meters up, the Sword Wall is divided into three levels. The first level, known as the Myriad Blade Layer, extends up to five hundred meters. This stretch of hundreds of meters sees the most climbers."
"Above five hundred meters, up to the clouds, is the Extreme Limit Layer—a rarity as each meter higher pushes the limits."
"And beyond the clouds' final hundred meters, hah, is called the Sky Wall, signifying the insurmountable."
"Bai Yutang might manage to reach the hundred-meter height, which is likely his limit. Higher than that, I'm not belittling him, but each meter upwards would be his ceiling."
Lin Ao spoke with repeated sneers.
"Whoa, it looks like Bai Yutang just advanced another section."
"It really does seem like it."
"Who saw it? What's going on here?" One person exclaimed in shock, and when they looked back, Li Feng was just a small black dot.
Despite having excellent eyesight, they couldn't tell what was happening above.
