Urban System in America-Chapter 58 - 57: Chaos! Ultimate Chaos!
Chapter 58: Chapter 57: Chaos! Ultimate Chaos!
In the Library
A student, hidden behind a row of tall shelves, was watching a pirated anime episode with hands-free earbuds in and the screen dimmed low, while simultaneously scrolling through the university portal.
As he scrolled through the university’s internal portal, looking for something interesting, he suddenly noticed a strange new file had been uploaded under the shared network directory: VeilOfTruth.mp4.
Curious, he tapped on it.
The file began to load, and a video thumbnail appeared.
One glance.
Then another.
He froze.
His hands trembled as he tapped again. The screen went full.
"HOLY SHIT!!" the student suddenly screamed, standing up so abruptly that he knocked over a chair.
The sudden yell jolted nearby students from their books. Even the usually stoic library supervisor turned sharply, staring daggers.
But the student didn’t care. He stood up and shouted, eyes still fixed on the screen. "Guys! GUYS! You need to see this!"
He shouted, turning his screen around. "EVERYONE, LOOK AT THIS! RIGHT NOW!"
Confused, nearby students came closer—until they saw what he was seeing.
Their faces twisted in disbelief. One gasped audibly. Another covered her mouth. One dropped his phone in a daze, but eyes still locked on the screen.
Seeing this, others got curious, and more and more students gathered. Just like before, one look at the screen and they were shocked speechless.
Seeing that there wasn’t enough space around him, the earlier student shouted breathlessly to the others, "Go to the university site," he yelled. "It’s the first file pinned on top."
Hearing this, everyone hurriedly unlocked their phones, clicked into the university portal, and really found the same file.
The shock, gasps, and murmurs grew louder and louder until chaos ensued throughout the library.
The librarian was shocked, not understanding the situation. "What are you—"
He was about to reprimand them when his gaze landed on a student’s laptop.
Only then did he see what had caused the chaos, and he was left stunned and horrified.
—
In the Business Ethics Lecture Hall
The lecture hall buzzed with a low hum as Professor Daniels paced at the front, speaking passionately about moral frameworks in corporate culture. "Business isn’t just about profit—it’s about responsibility, accountability—"
At the back of the room, a bored student slouched low in his seat, fingers tapping furiously under the desk as he guided a pixelated hero through a mobile game. His attention was miles away—until a sudden notification broke through.
PING.
A message from a friend flashed on his screen:
Bro. Check this out Open the link—VeilOfTruth.mp4 on the campus network.
He frowned, annoyed at the interruption. Another dumb meme, probably. Still, unable to resist curiosity, he minimized the game and tapped the link.
One second. Two.
Then—
His eyes widened. He jerked upright, a strangled yell escaping his throat.
"WHAT THE FUCK!"
He shouted, standing up so abruptly that he knocked over a chair.
Nearby students were startled by his sudden movement. As the sound echoed through the classroom with a SWISH, everyone turned their heads like well-trained robots.
But the professor’s face darkened.
"You there! What’s the—"
But the student didn’t care. Standing up quickly, he shouted, "Everyone—open your phones. Go to the campus network. VeilOfTruth.mp4 NOW."
Confused murmurs rippled through the rows like a rising tide. One by one, students pulled out their phones, their screens glowing to life in the dim lecture hall.
Fingers moved quickly as they navigated to the university portal.
There it was—the same file.
A tense silence followed.
Then—
Gasps echoed through the room.
A girl near the front clamped a hand over her mouth. "Is this real...?"
Two boys exchanged stunned glances, one whispering, "No freaking way..."
Even the professor, irritated by the growing commotion, finally glanced down at his own buzzing phone. A message blinked across his screen:
Hurriedly open the campus network and see the first file.
His brows drew together. He tapped in.
And froze.
His eyes scanned the screen. His face drained of color.
Lips parted. But no word came out, as if they were caught in his throat.
Then, remembering where he was, he quickly cleared his throat. His voice suddenly hoarse. "Class dismissed. See you... next time."
He grabbed his briefcase with shaking hands and rushed out the door without another word.
While gripping his phone tightly, as though it were the remote to a nuclear arsenal.
—
In the Cafeteria
Everything was as usual—the hum of conversations, the clatter of trays, the occasional laughter echoing across tables.
At one table, a student casually scrolled through his phone, only to freeze. His eyes widened. He leaned in, staring at the screen as if unsure he was seeing it right.
"No way..." he muttered under his breath, his voice tight with disbelief.
People around him glanced over. "What happened?" someone asked.
"Check the campus portal—`VeilOfTruth.mp4`"
Noticing his unusual behavior, a few students curiously opened the campus portal, seeing the file, and directly clicked on it.
As the file loaded, reactions began to change—first confusion, then disbelief, and finally, outright shock. Gasps cut through the growing silence.
Within moments, the lively buzz of the cafeteria faded, replaced by quiet murmurs and puzzled glances as more students gathered around, trying to make sense of what they had just seen.
—
In the University Science Lab
The faint hum of machines blended with the soft clinking of glassware. Graduate students moved with quiet focus, adjusting burners, jotting down notes, and carefully monitoring reactions.
In the corner, a first-year student sat half-interested, pretending to read a manual while scrolling through his phone under the table.
A message popped up.
"Dude, check `VeilOfTruth.mp4` on the campus portal, ASAP"
Rolling his eyes, he tapped the link out of boredom. A loading screen appeared. Then, within seconds, the video began to play.
His face went pale.
"What the—!" he blurted, jumping to his feet.
Startled by the sudden yell, a senior nearby flinched and knocked over a beaker of bright purple liquid. It splashed across the bench, hissing on contact with a heated plate and sending up a cloud of vapor.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" the senior snapped, but before he could say anything else, the younger student wordlessly held out his phone.
"Just look."
The irritation on the senior’s face melted into disbelief. "No way..."
Others in the lab noticed the shift in mood and gathered around.
Within seconds, the experiment was forgotten. Phones lit up across the lab as students huddled together, eyes fixed on their screens.
The focused atmosphere dissolved, replaced by stunned expressions and a thick, uneasy silence.
—
It wasn’t just these places; the same scene played out almost everywhere.
From the cafeteria to the research labs, from lounges to stairwells, students and staff alike stood frozen before glowing screens.
The same video played on every device:
Clement, unmistakably, sitting in his office chair.
A female student straddling his lap.
His hands shamelessly roaming her body—cupping, groping, pawing—while they whispered crude, explicit exchanges about sex and "private tutoring."
The girl’s face and body were carefully blurred, preserving her anonymity.
But Clement? As vivid as a nightmare.
Then another video began, this time in a different room. Clement, fully naked, caught mid-act. Again, the girl was blurred. Again, undeniably him.
Then came the evidence files: screenshots of grade spreadsheets, transaction logs, private messages with veiled threats and shady promises. Dozens of them. One after the other.
—
By now, the whole university already knew about this. Rex had uploaded the video anonymously to the most public-access corner of the campus intranet—well-indexed, impossible to miss.
He had timed it perfectly.
He had fifteen minutes—exactly fifteen minutes—to use his system skill ’Digital Mirage’ before it vanished. So, when he saw it was Clement’s turn to present during the faculty meeting, he uploaded the file, activated the signal triggers, and simply waited.
All it needed was one student to discover it.
And BOOM! It spread like wildfire, just like he had imagined.
Near the main campus building, Rex sat casually on the bench with Adrian, one arm resting nonchalantly on the backrest.
He leaned back, eyes half-lidded, watching the chaos unfold around him.
As students scrambled, gasped, and whispered, he remained cool and unfazed, as if none of it had anything to do with him—and it wasn’t him who did all of it.
Beside him, Adrian sat frozen.
"This is... insane."
Rex didn’t even open his eyes. He just smirked.
—
Back in the Conference Room
The room had descended into stunned silence.
The video played.
There was no mistaking it. Clement. His voice. His office.
Then, another video.
A hotel room. Clement, naked. Moaning.
Blurred girl again. But everything else? Crystal clear.
Then came screenshots—dozens of them. Message logs. Financial transactions. Grading portals accessed late at night. Mark sheets tampered with. Clear evidence of bribery, sexual coercion, and academic fraud.
Gasps echoed throughout the room.
"What in God’s name—!"
"Is that... real?"
A professor stood up angrily. "This is—this is disgusting."
Professors stared at the screen, horrified and revolted.
Clement’s knees buckled. His mouth opened, but no words came out.
"I—this isn’t—I can explain—this is all fake!" he finally blurted, his voice cracking.
But no one believed him. The silence wasn’t stunned anymore. It was furious.
The department head slammed the table. "HOW LONG HAS THIS BEEN GOING ON!?"
"Is this why some students’ marks skyrocketed overnight? and you said it was due to private tutoring? Is this your private tutoring," another professor growled.
"You manipulated the entire grading system?" came another accusation.
Clement backed away. "N-no! This is all fake! Someone’s trying to ruin me!"
He spoke, but it sounded like a dying flame—flickering, gasping, already lost.
The proof was right there, undeniable. Damning.
Everyone saw it. Everyone knew.
Suddenly, his breathing grew shallow, as he took short, rapid gasps.
His vision warped the room spiraling into a blur.
Shapes stretched and twisted, like something out of a fever dream.
The voices around him grew distorted.
And then—the floor seemed to tilt beneath him.
"H-huh—" was the last broken sound that scraped its way out of his throat.
And then...
Darkness swallowed him whole.
His legs buckled, and he crumpled to the ground with a deafening thud.
