Urban Super Soldier King-Chapter 871: Leading Them by the Nose
Chapter 871: Chapter 871: Leading Them by the Nose
Xiang Yu sat there and suddenly remembered the piece of paper he had picked up yesterday in the audience. It had contact information written on it. Although Xiang Yu didn’t know who had left it, he had a feeling that this note was purposefully left for him.
He took out the note and dialed directly.
The call didn’t go through; instead, he heard the sound of the other party’s phone being turned off. Xiang Yu felt puzzled. If the other party left a note for him, there shouldn’t be any reason he couldn’t get through.
He followed up with another call, but still, there was no response. Finally, he put the note back where he found it.
Little did he know, Ren Baohe had smashed his phone just moments ago.
In the morning, while Sun Bo was busy, he received a call from Cheng Wanli.
"Sun, what plans do you have for lunch?" Cheng Wanli asked with a cheerful tone.
Even though they were talking over the phone, Sun Bo could sense the enthusiasm from the other end.
"I’ve already arranged to have lunch with Wan," Sun Bo replied simply.
Most of the time, Sun Bo himself didn’t even know his schedule; he was constantly too busy and had to rely on his secretary for reminders.
"Perfect timing—I haven’t seen Wan in a long time. If it’s convenient, I’d like to tag along for lunch," Cheng Wanli chuckled.
Sun Bo had no issues with it. Lunch with Wan was just casual; no business would be discussed. He readily agreed.
Cheng Wanli exchanged a few polite words before hanging up the call. Last night, Sun Bo had treated him poorly, so Cheng planned to enlist Sun Bo’s sister to mend their strained relationship.
At ten in the morning, Xiang Yu originally planned to visit Wolong Villa to check the place out. It had been ages since his last visit, and he wanted to see how Zhang Dongxu’s injuries were healing.
This kid was notoriously labeled as bad luck in the streets—everyone avoided him.
When he went missing, Wolf Eye had frantically searched for his whereabouts. However, after the recent intense crackdown, Wolf Eye seemed to have vanished into thin air, leaving no traces behind.
Furthermore, no one in the city had seen anyone connected to Wolf Eye. Xiang Yu even wondered if Wolf Eye had withdrawn completely from the country.
Yet Xiang Yu hadn’t relaxed his vigilance. While he wasn’t intimately familiar with Wolf Eye’s operations, he had a deep understanding of Wolf Fang’s rules.
In Wolf Fang, betrayal was not tolerated. If someone betrayed them, the organization would hunt them down no matter where they ran and eliminate them.
Xiang Yu had already uncovered the connection between Wolf Eye and Wolf Fang, and he believed Wolf Eye would uphold similar traditions. What remained unclear was how Wolf Eye’s leader, Lin Chong, felt about these practices.
As Xiang Yu was preparing to head downstairs, his phone suddenly rang.
He glanced at the screen—it was the number he had dialed earlier that morning.
He picked up the phone and answered, but he didn’t speak a word, remaining silent as he listened.
The other party waited for a while before finally breaking the silence. "Did you call me earlier?"
The speaker was none other than Ren Baohe. His previous phone was smashed, and he had just switched to a new one.
Xiang Yu neither confirmed nor denied this. He simply stayed quiet.
"You were the one who defused my bomb," Ren Baohe said bluntly upon hearing Xiang Yu’s silence.
Xiang Yu’s heart jolted at these words. So, this was indeed the person responsible for planting the bomb.
"That’s right. I was the one who disarmed it," Xiang Yu finally responded.
"Well, well, well. I didn’t expect there’d be someone as skilled as you here. Impressive. I’m delighted. Since that’s the case, let’s make a bet," Ren Baohe chuckled darkly. "At four o’clock this afternoon, I’ll plant five bombs in the central mall building. Let’s see if you can disarm them."
The mention of bombs in the mall enraged Xiang Yu immensely.
The central mall was a large shopping complex that was always bustling with people. If bombs detonated there, the consequences would be catastrophic.
This man was truly twisted, caring nothing for innocent lives. This was exactly the essence of the Falcon Organization.
Promoting anarchy and recklessness, utterly lawless. Xiang Yu despised people like them to his very core.
In the past, he had no way of dealing with them. As a soldier, he couldn’t act without direct orders from his superiors.
Acting prematurely could draw the organization’s attention and lead to retaliations. While the government didn’t fear their opposition, preventive measures were always the better option.
But things were different now. Xiang Yu was no longer a soldier—he was now a rogue leader. He could target anyone he desired without worrying about national consequences.
"Go ahead and plant them wherever you want; it’s none of my business." Xiang Yu sneered coldly.
Ren Baohe was momentarily stunned. He had expected Xiang Yu to act nervous and beg him not to do it.
But what Ren Baohe failed to grasp was that Xiang Yu wasn’t a cop or a savior; he had no obligation to think that far ahead.
Understanding this, Ren Baohe suddenly burst into laughter. Neither man was virtuous—there was no need to threaten one another on such matters.
"Let me warn you, though—the racetrack is mine. You’d best stay out of my business. Otherwise, I’ll have no mercy toward you. Goodbye." Xiang Yu stated and prepared to hang up.
"Wait, I have more to say!" Ren Baohe quickly interjected.
"Speak." In truth, Xiang Yu wasn’t planning to hang up; he was merely projecting a sense of indifference.
The idea of bombs in the mall had Xiang Yu more anxious than he cared to admit.
"I admire your attitude. Why not join us instead? If you do, I promise you’ll be far happier than you are now." Ren Baohe tempted.
"Thanks, but I don’t lack anything right now. As long as you don’t disturb me, that’s all I need." Xiang Yu replied curtly.
The more Xiang Yu resisted, the more intrigued Ren Baohe became.
"Perhaps you don’t know who we are. Our organization is called Falcon. It’s a massive international group unlike anything you’ve seen here in this small town. Our ultimate goal is freedom—complete freedom, freedom of thought, freedom to do as one pleases."
Ren Baohe’s voice was filled with pride as he spoke of his organization.
"Spare me the nonsense. I have money, I have women—I don’t need your Falcon nonsense." Xiang Yu replied impatiently.
Ren Baohe let out a hearty laugh. "You do have money, but you don’t have freedom. All your actions are constrained by the state, by various limitations. This is what separates you from us.
What we pursue is absolute freedom—the kind that lets an eagle soar freely across the skies."
Ren Baohe spoke with intense fervor, as though he himself were that eagle.
"Cut the crap. Let me warn you once—don’t mess with me, or you’ll regret it." Xiang Yu concluded the call abruptly.
He had already figured out Ren Baohe’s strategy. If Xiang Yu showed too much interest, it would give Ren Baohe control over the interaction. By maintaining his aloof attitude, he only heightened Ren Baohe’s curiosity and lowered his guard.
Nevertheless, Xiang Yu remained deeply concerned. He feared Ren Baohe might truly plant bombs in the mall building...
