Unstoppable Crushing: Starting from Adding Points in Dreams-Chapter 23 - The Corpse
Chapter 23: Chapter 23 The Corpse
"I'm overthinking it again."
At 7:05 in the morning, Chen Feng woke up once more.
Unable to find a new Light Group, he felt somewhat helpless.
Then, he got up and pulled back the curtains.
Sunlight poured in, revealing a blue sky and white clouds that were completely different from the Dream World.
High-rise buildings rose and fell, while the sounds of the fruit shop below opening began to emerge in succession.
Coming to his senses, Chen Feng quickly called up his panel.
[Name: Chen Feng]
[Age: 22]
[Strength: 9.2]
[Agility: 8.8]
[Constitution: 8.9]
[Will: 9.4]
[Skill: Sandboxing (Mastery, 38%), Judo (Entry-level, 41%)]
[Talent: Perception lv1 (11/100)]
He glanced at his panel information and roughly sorted out all the logic.
"Martial Arts Skills can improve through practice or by Breakthrough Light Groups."
"Talents, on the other hand, can only grow through fixed special means."
He thought of the gains from killing two Faceless in the Dream World the night before.
Two grey Light Groups had caused his Perception Talent to enhance to a certain extent.
But usually, no matter how much he utilized his Perception Talent, the data following lv1 never changed, unlike Sandboxing and Judo, which could slowly progress.
"This is only the level of lv1, but what if I were to advance to lv2 in the future?"
"The effects would definitely more than double..."
With a flicker in his eyes, Chen Feng valued his Perception Talent highly.
After all, this was a special means different from Sandboxing and Judo.
He even suspected that it could actually be an Extraordinary Ability, just that he hadn't truly unlocked it yet.
"Take it slow."
"At least now I have figured out the method to make the Talent grow..."
"There may still be many secrets in the Dream World, as long as I continue to explore, one day it will become much stronger."
With these thoughts, Chen Feng organized his plans for the future.
Buzz! Buzz!
Shortly after, his phone suddenly vibrated with an incoming message.
Putting his thoughts aside, he checked it.
[Chen Yun: Xiao Feng, about that job search, I discussed your ideas with my advisor.]
[But he's a bit worried and wants to meet you, hoping we can have a meal together on the weekend. Is that convenient for you?]
After reading the message, Chen Feng contemplated for a moment.
Chen Yun's advisor was quite nice. When their parents passed away, he came to help with the funeral arrangements and resolved disputes left by the older generation.
Over the past two years, he would also occasionally invite the siblings for a meal, teaching them in the tone of an elder, but truly, he helped them quite a lot privately.
"Okay."
Nodding, Chen Feng didn't want to trouble him.
After all, he could take a day off during the week at the supermarket, so going for a meal was fine.
[Chen Yun: How about Saturday night then? Hot pot, it's your favorite. Smiley jpg.]
"Okay."
Subsequently, after a few brief exchanges by text, Chen Feng set the meal for three days later, near the research institute.
Fortunately, nothing else ensued, and he thought about his encounter from the previous night.
He changed his clothes and left the house.
A few minutes later, Chen Feng once again arrived near that dilapidated alley.
"Did you hear someone died?"
"Yeah, it was horrible, all the internal organs were gone."
"My god, that's frightening. Whose family was it?"
"Liu Ping's, that dead drunk. Probably came home smashed again in the middle of the night...and well, karma hit."
Unlike the dark and empty alley from last night.
The street was now full of people, buzzing with chatter.
```
Long yellow caution tapes closed off the alley entrance and exit, with two blue and white Security Bureau vehicles parked nearby, and seven or eight Security Officers maintaining order, coming and going.
"Huh?"
Chen Feng was somewhat surprised; he had not expected such a commotion in the alley.
Picking up his pace, he overheard some murmuring.
"The organs are gone?"
Seizing on the keyword, his thoughts abruptly returned to the chewing noises he had heard while passing the alley last night.
Eating people?
A chill shot through his heart, and Chen Feng subconsciously wanted to push through the crowd to get a better look.
"Who the fuck..."
Someone annoyed at being jostled wanted to curse out loud.
But turning to look, they were faced with a 1.8-meter-tall youth with a strong build and a calm gaze.
The unfinished words stuck in their throat; after a brief eye contact, they quickly revealed a silly smile and stepped aside to make way.
"Time of death, estimated around 12 o'clock last night."
"Victim male, age 49, name....."
The alley floor was an uneven cement surface stretching about a dozen meters.
On either side were walls and two old buildings, made of cement and red bricks.
The body, half-lying on the ground and leaning against a wall, was somewhat concealed by the line of sight, and several Security Officers standing by had faces pale with nausea.
To this, some veterans from the Security Bureau did not blame them, as even they frowned deeply.
Looking down the line, the drunkard's corpse was split in two from the waist as if torn apart by immense strength.
The abdomen was soaked in blood, staining all of his clothes, with only remnants of organs left inside.
The trail of blood stretched from one end of the alley to where he lay, as if dragged across the ground.
"Captain Xiang, what's your take?" someone inquired.
"This kind of injury, it doesn't look like the work of an ordinary person..." Xiang Jianjun shook his head, frowning as he observed the scene for a while.
"It's either a Professional Level Martial Artist or a Transformed Person."
"Or it could be...."
The sentence was left unfinished, but the nearby listeners understood the implications.
Their expressions subtly changed, and the atmosphere at the scene grew even heavier.
"How's the surveillance check coming along?" Xiang Jianjun switched topics, looking up to ask others.
"Captain Xiang, it's a bit complicated."
"This is an old neighborhood with poor infrastructure and few surveillance devices..."
A younger Security Officer, with an embarrassed look, quickly pulled up the data on their tablet and explained: "There is only one camera at the left exit of the alley, but it might be that the wiring has aged, it hasn't been functioning properly these past few days."
"There's another one at the right exit, but it's too far away to see the scene."
Upon hearing this, Xiang Jianjun furrowed his brow but soon saw the man suddenly exclaim with delight: "Wait, Captain Xiang, there's a discovery."
"Someone passed by near here at 12:08 a.m. yesterday, maybe we could ask them..."
....
"Xiang Jianjun?"
At the entrance of the alley, Chen Feng had already positioned himself at the very front of the onlooking crowd, right up against the caution tape.
His tall stature blocked the view of many, and the youth who had given up his spot only dared to bow his head, cursing internally.
"What a coincidence, him showing up at the scene again."
"Could it be that the Security Bureau is short on people?"
A thought flashed through Chen Feng's mind, and he quickly looked around for other traces at the scene.
Unfortunately, the distance was too far, plus the deliberate cover-up by the Security Bureau.
As a result, he wasn't able to spot any useful clues.
"Excuse me, please move aside!"
Then, two Security Officers carried out a stretcher, upon which lay a body covered with a white cloth.
A faint smell of blood reached Chen Feng's nostrils, and he took a step back, witnessing the white-draped stretcher being loaded into a van.
A middle-aged woman got into the van, her face not showing sorrow, just numbness.
Chen Feng guessed she must be the relative of the deceased.
Shaking his head internally, he withdrew his gaze.
Soon after, he saw Xiang Jianjun walking out as well.
Their eyes met, and the other gave a look of surprise.
"Is it you?"
