Unscented-Chapter 1186 - 1128 Clear Explanation
Melissa walked confidently into the hall for the meeting. Mrs James had invited her after what she told her when they met.
She was surprised to find all the investors that were duped by Ana. There were seven of them
Mrs James must have told them what Melissa told her.
They rose to welcome her and they walked her to her seat.
"We are here to ask for your help" Mrs James spoke for all of them. "We have made a mistake to sue you. The loss is our fault" she explained.
"We are sorry!" some of the investors chorused.
One woman stood up. "Stop!" she yelled angrily.
There was silence everywhere.
"Is this what we came here to do? We were told we will discuss with you how to get our money back but here you are, begging the marketer" the woman complained.
"The loss we had was our fault. Melissa had nothing to do with it. We want to seek her help to assist us in recovering our money" Mrs James replied harshly.
"We don’t need her help. The court will order her to pay us anyway" the woman continued angrily.
"That is if we win the case" another investor interjected.
"Please, why am I invited here?" Melissa was disappointed. She thought they had agreed on what to do before inviting her.
"We want you to help us in retrieving our funds even if it is not the whole, just help us" Mrs James begged her.
"Is that why I’m here, to render my help to you?" she asked calmly.
"Yes!" Mrs James and some of them answered happily.
"This is what you should have done before" she corrected them.
"No,I am not here to beg you. I came to hear what you want to say about the upcoming case" the angry woman retorted.
"You need to agree on what you want" Melissa said to Mrs James
"That is what we shall do now" Mrs James left her seat and stood in the center. "If you want Melissa to help us, raise your hands" she announced.
Four of them raised their hands. Mrs James raised up her hand too making them five out of seven.
"That means we are not taking up the case against Melissa anymore" Mrs James announced.
The angry woman and the other investor that refused to raise her hand left the meeting in anger.
"We will see you in court" the angry woman roared as he went out.
Melissa stood up.
"If you need my help. I will only assist you after the case has been settled" she declared and left. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
A week later at the court.
The lawyers presented all the gathered evidence to the juries. The judge would pass the judgement while the juries would calculate how much would be paid as settlement.
The juries discussed with each other quietly before one of them activated his microphone.
"Some of the evidences here are falsified and won’t count as evidence. These evidences are presented by the plaintiff" the jury handed out the file back to the lawyer.
Another jury stated.
"The other evidence presented here shows that the defendant had nothing to do with the money you lose on your business expedition. This simply means this case will be discharged and the defendant will be acquitted"
The judge picked up his gavel.
"I here by declared the defendant acquitted" he banged his desk.At the office, despite how much Melissa had tried to stop Murray from dealing with the case. He still couldn’t get it off his mind.
At the meeting, he wanted everyone to continue working against a reoccurrence in the future. He wanted it to be their priority.
"This time for our company is very critical. We are facing a lot of problems but what is painful about it is that they are problems that could be avoided" he paused to look around.
"We can avoid it. The government are planning to sanction us after we are still battling to survive under their hard unfriendly policies" he shook his head.
"But that applies to every entertainment company, not only us. It is inevitable" one of the members argued.
"Do you know why we are being sanctioned?" Murray asked him.
"No" he shook his head.
"An entertainer that once worked with us had went ahead and conned some people. We are her only traceable employer. That is why we are getting sanctioned. Is something like that avoidable or not?" he questioned him.He wanted to know how wise he was through his answers.
"It is preventable" he nodded in response.
"We should now make sure we have guarantors recorded for everyone in this company including me. The HR department must be extra careful when recruiting. Past criminal records, permits for foreigners every thing should check out" he smiled as everyone of them nodded in accordance.
He got home and found Melissa walking around the house instead of resting. He knew she was not fully recovered.
She was just pretending to be.
Melissa rushed to hug him the moment she laid eyes on him. She was overwhelmed with happiness.
"What happened? You look so happy" Murray loved her high spirit but it was surprising.
"All that is left for us is to be happy. We have nothing to worry about" she said joyfully.
Murray remembered what they were going through at the company but it would be better not to share it with her.
"In short period of time to come. The company will be booming" she informed him.
"I know, you have been researching the trend. You are not ready for that. You need to recovered fully before that" he scolded her.
"I’m in good shape" she turned around. "I’m going to ride you tonight" she teased him.
"Anyway, whatever you see in the trend is not important. Our company might collapse before the next wave" Murray mistakenly spilled out.
"The company is not going to collapse because the court case has been taken care of" she laughed as she disclosed.
"Taken care of?" Murray wondered.
"It is settled. I did it. It was easy" she boasted.
"Are you serious?" Murray hugged her tight in excitement.
That was a problem less. He sighed in relief.
