Unrivaled Martial Emperor-Chapter 1625 - Ling Fei
Chen Fan understood the eyes watching him were filled with malice. He only smiled coldly inside.
If these people dared to come, only one ending awaited them: death!
He felt no pity whatsoever. These people were vicious criminals from the start. None was innocent. Dying here would merely be justice arriving late.
When Chen Fan entered a remote alley, a vicious voice rang out from behind him.
“Brat, hand over everything you own. Otherwise, even being a Featherlight Sect disciple won’t save your life.”
At some point, dozens of ferocious figures had silently surrounded him. Their gazes were cold, bloodthirsty, and brimming with murderous intent.
Suddenly, the cold voice of an expert came from afar.
“You lowly criminals, are you all tired of living? How dare you make a move against our Featherlight Sect’s disciples?”
Panic flashed across many faces.
“Crap, it’s Ling Fei! Move fast, or we’re finished once he gets here!”
The fear in their reactions was unmistakable. Clearly, they had suffered under his hand before.
“Go, brothers. Slaughter this brat from the Featherlight Sect.”
Following a furious roar, about a dozen criminals pounced on Chen Fan.
“So eager to die.” Chen Fan sneered in disdain. He took a step forward, and his figure instantly dissolved into a burst of golden light.
Swish.
He reappeared before a bald criminal. With an icy expression, he raised his hand, and a streak of golden light flashed across the bald man’s neck.
Puchi.
Blood sprayed as the man’s throat split open. The savage grin on his face froze, disbelief replacing the cruelty in his eyes.
Swish.
Puchi!
Swish!
Puchi!
Chen Fan darted around, turning into a cold-blooded killer and flashing past the criminals one by one, harvesting their lives.
Suddenly, a powerful figure appeared mid-air. He wore refined robes and a purple-gold crown. His features were elegant, his bearing extraordinary, exuding the authority of a seasoned expert.
Ling Fei.
“Arrogant criminals. How dare you gang up on our Featherlight Sect’s disciple? Go to hell!”
Ling Fei was already in the eighth-level Immortal Platform realm. No wonder these people were terrified of him. In a city like this, such strength was overwhelming.
Ling Fei immediately struck. Within moments, the remaining criminals were reduced to corpses littering the ground.
Ling Fei came up to Chen Fan and said with a smile, “You must be a newbie here.”
“Mmm.” Chen Fan nodded.
“You’re really impressive.” Ling Fei nodded in satisfaction and said, “These people may be trash, but you’re only at the sixth level and still killed them cleanly. That’s no small feat.”
“You flatter me.”
“To see talents like you emerging outside the sect is excellent news. With talents emerging in great numbers in our sect, our future will only grow brighter.” Ling Fei smiled sincerely, obviously happy for the Featherlight Sect’s prosperity from the bottom of his heart.
He paused, then added, “I’m Ling Fei, the garrison commander of this city. What’s your name? You must be a rising star. I don’t recall seeing you before.”
“I’m Chen Fan. I just returned to the sect not long ago.”
“I see. You must have been training outside. No wonder you’re so strong.” Ling Fei smiled and said, “Come, let’s return to the sect’s base first. Ignore these people. They’re criminals steeped in sin. If they dare target you again, kill them without hesitation. There’s no shortage of people like them in the Heavenly Prison.”
“May I ask what a garrison is? It’s my first time here, so I still don’t know a lot of things.”
Ling Fei nodded. “Cities formed wherever criminals gathered. To keep them in check, the sect assigns garrisons. Serving as one earns contribution points, and only elite members of the younger generation qualify. You get to oversee the city and cultivate at the same time. Naturally, many compete for the position. This city happens to be under my charge.”
“So that’s how it is.”
“Mmm. Our Heavenly Punishment lineage enforces the sect’s laws. How could we let these atrocious scums go unpunished?” Ling Fei continued, “Still, for you to enter the Heavenly Prison so soon after returning, and at your age, you must have rendered significant merit.”
“I guess so.” Chen Fan smiled, “I’ll still need Brother Ling to take care of me here.”
“No need for formality. You’re strong. What you lack is only training. Given time, you’ll soar.” Ling Fei said, “But, Brother, it’s best that you don’t roam outside by yourself. It’s too dangerous that way. Strength means little if others scheme together. For immortal stones, these criminals will do anything.”
“I understand. Unfortunately, I don’t know many people yet. I mostly rely on myself.”
“Then stay at the garrison mansion for now,” Ling Fei suggested. “Familiarize yourself with the Heavenly Prison first.”
As they chatted, they arrived at the stronghold of the Featherlight Sect’s disciples within the city.
Compared to the desolation of the entire city, the primeval qi in the garrison mansion was incredibly rich.
Chen Fan opened his Eye of Breaking Deception and immediately saw tiny springs beneath the garrison mansion spewing primeval qi. They were sealed with formations, ensuring nothing leaked. The environment was perfectly preserved for cultivation.
For the sect to claim such a place here spoke volumes about its authority within the Heavenly Prison.
“This is my garrison mansion. There are quite a few other disciples of the Featherlight Sect staying here. There aren’t many places within the city with primeval qi,” said Ling Fei. He was visibly welcoming, especially after learning Chen Fan belonged to the Heavenly Punishment lineage.
Just as the two of them were about to step inside the garrison mansion, hurried footsteps came from within. A young man walked out.
“Senior Brother Ling Fei.” The young man hurriedly said as soon as he saw Ling Fei.
“What’s wrong?”
“Fengyu, he...”
The man’s eyes turned red, choking on his voice.
“What exactly happened?” Ling Fei pushed for an answer.
“Fengyu died. His head was delivered here.”
“What!”
Ling Fei’s hair stood up in anger upon hearing this. His rage could burn through the heavens.
