Unexpected Marriage: She is the Sugar Mommy!-Chapter 307: Lost Thirty Million
However, when Fiona Dunn mentioned Joel White, her face instantly turned grim: "Impossible, Joel just called to scold me. He said I’m always so immature, that we’re not suitable for each other, said I’m too willful and not his ideal partner."
No wonder Fiona would drink herself into a mess, so that’s why.
Although it’s unclear what exactly happened between her and Joel, getting Fiona out of here is what’s most important now.
Engulfed in sadness, Fiona momentarily forgot she was still at the casino, leaning in Seraphina Sinclair’s arms sobbing desperately.
But the casino folks had no interest in her love troubles, urging incessantly, "Are you betting or not? The cards are dealt, you can’t just leave now." 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
"When did I say I was leaving? Come on, no one leaves today," Fiona, unaware of the danger, was determined to gamble with the casino people.
Given the situation today, it seemed Fiona wouldn’t be able to leave even if she wanted to.
"Is it true that after we finish this round, we can leave?" Seraphina stood in front, her beautiful eyes simmering with anger. These people were clearly bullying Fiona, and regardless of whether Fiona won or lost, they probably had no intention of letting her go.
After all, where else would you find someone rich and naive?
Seraphina had never delved into this world, but it didn’t mean she was clueless.
"Naturally, this round has started, of course you can’t leave." The man with the gold-rimmed glasses held the cards, his eyes filled with desire.
"Alright." Seraphina pushed Fiona aside, "I’ll gamble with you."
The man with the gold-rimmed glasses didn’t care who gambled with him; in this underground casino, no one could surpass his skills.
Seraphina lost, all the chips on the table, over 30 million, gone completely.
"Can we leave now?" Seraphina grabbed Fiona’s hand, staring coldly at the man with the gold-rimmed glasses.
He said nothing, so Seraphina attempted to leave with Fiona.
Before they reached the door, however, a group of robust men blocked their way.
"You can leave, but you haven’t paid yet." The man with the gold-rimmed glasses suddenly spoke up.
Seraphina turned to look at him: "We don’t have that much cash on us, can we write you a check?"
"Our casino doesn’t accept checks, only cash or transfers. Checks don’t give the same satisfaction of holding real money." He grinned wickedly at Seraphina.
"What kind of rule is that?" Seraphina frowned. Who carries millions in cash? Wouldn’t you need a truck to move that?
"I don’t care how you do it; either pay up today or have your friend ransom you out, otherwise don’t think of leaving." He counted cards, unworried that they’d manage to escape.
Just two women, what’s there to be afraid of them getting away.
Fiona, drunkenly becoming more intoxicated as the alcohol set in.
"Seraphina, I don’t want to go, I don’t want to go back. Joel doesn’t think I’m a good wife anyway, so why go back? I won’t, I won’t go back." Fiona’s voice was tearful, as if she’d been wronged.
"You silly girl, do you know what’s happening right now? Are you still causing trouble?" Seraphina was overwhelmed, caught between dealing with the man with the gold-rimmed glasses and caring for this clueless girl.
Before she could figure out what to say, Fiona drank herself into a stupor and fell asleep.
Seraphina, frail and pregnant, found dragging Fiona nearly impossible.
Especially with the man with the gold-rimmed glasses being so unreasonable; no matter how much she reasoned, he wouldn’t let her contact anyone outside for money.
This was clearly deliberate.
"What exactly do you want? Even conceding the thirty million, you have no reason to detain me, or is someone instructing you to do this?" If the man weren’t so persistently troublesome, she wouldn’t suspect a larger plan.
But he clearly wasn’t letting her leave, what exactly did he intend?
The man with the gold-rimmed glasses adjusted his glasses, looking at Seraphina with admiration: "As expected of President Sinclair of Kevin, you’re not so dim after all. Leaving today won’t be easy."
"So Fiona was deliberately drawn here, knowing I’d come for her and you’d trap me here?" Learning the truth left Seraphina more composed, "Isn’t this illegal confinement, aren’t you afraid of getting caught?"
He wagged a finger, "President Sinclair is joking, how dare I confine you, just want to reclaim something from you."
"I don’t recall owing you anything." Seraphina scrutinized him, certain she’d never seen him before.
"You don’t owe me, but do you remember Shirley Lynch?" As he spoke, he stood, removing his glasses to look straight at Seraphina, "Perhaps you’ve forgotten Shirley Lynch, but her brother remembers vividly."
Shirley Lynch?
Seraphina finally understood: "So you’re seeking justice for Shirley? Then you’ve picked the wrong person."
Though she’d never heard Shirley had a brother, Shirley’s plight was her doing. If Shirley hadn’t constantly targeted and sabotaged her, she wouldn’t have met her doom.
This burden, Seraphina wouldn’t take.
"If you hadn’t pretended to collaborate with her, only to withdraw at the last second, she wouldn’t have ended up like this because of you, Seraphina. Are you still denying your actions?" He waved to his men, his gaze towards Seraphina growing more murderous.
The brawny men cornered Seraphina, seeming intent on ending her.
"Lynch, why bother talking? Just knock her out and drag her away," one man suggested.
But Lynch wasn’t keen on that: "Dragging isn’t necessary, since she ruined my sister, let’s return the favor, let her taste ruin and disgrace."
"Then what should we do?" his man asked.
"Since she enjoys this game, stripping her and posting a few videos online isn’t too much, is it?" Lynch laughed viciously, eyes filled with hatred.
Seraphina found these people absurd; couldn’t they think of anything beyond these vile methods? How could they all resort to such base means?
Now wasn’t the time for such thoughts; she had to resist, or by tomorrow, she might become a pariah.
Fortunately, she’d learned some martial arts before, managing to hold her ground but hindered by Fiona being dead weight.
Just as desperation set in, a familiar figure appeared at the door. Seraphina was astounded: "Chloe? Why are you here?"
