Unexpected Marriage: She is the Sugar Mommy!-Chapter 271: What’s So Good About That Woman
About two hours later, Seraphina Sinclair finally turned on her phone, and as soon as she did, another unknown call came in.
Instinctively, Seraphina thought it was Desmond Fairchild and immediately snapped, "Desmond, haven’t you had enough? I warn you, even if the child in my belly is yours, it’s not up to you to discuss keeping her with me. Just stay away and don’t bother calling again, got it?"
"Child in your belly? What’s going on?" On the other end of the line came Keith Hughes’s puzzled voice.
Oh no!
Seraphina was stunned upon hearing Keith’s voice, "Senior, why is it you?"
"Who else would it be? You thought it was Desmond?" Keith expressed concern, "What’s wrong? Did he come back to bother you? And what was that about a child you just mentioned?"
"Child?" Seraphina awkwardly tugged at her red lips, bluffing, "What child? Senior, you probably misheard."
Keith frowned, but didn’t continue on the subject, "By the way, remember the last time I asked you to help pick out a gift? Do you have time recently? I’ve been looking for a long time myself and still don’t know what to buy. It’s almost the 5.20 Valentine’s Day, and I want to give her a gift."
"Her birthday has already passed?" Seraphina was surprised.
"Her birthday is actually still quite a bit away, just wanted to prepare early. Later, a friend told me that you girls like celebrating these holidays, so I have to bother you again." Keith seemed a bit embarrassed on the phone, his voice lowering.
"Oh, I see, but I’m really sorry, I’ve been a bit unavailable lately and forgot about the gift thing." Seraphina was very apologetic. Being pregnant now, she had to reduce her time on electronic devices and limit radiation exposure.
But this couldn’t be mentioned to Keith.
Hearing she was unavailable, Keith instinctively grew worried, "Is your body not well yet? I’ll come see you right now."
"No need, really no need, my health has always been like this, you don’t have to worry." Seraphina feared Keith would impulsively come to see her, quickly refusing.
However, Keith remained unconvinced, "Are you sure everything is fine? Although Camille’s medical skills are well-known, I feel like this can’t go on, should we find another doctor for a second opinion?"
Although understanding Keith’s good intentions, Seraphina was not up for it and shook her head, "Thank you for your kindness, Senior, but I know my own body. Please don’t worry."
Seeing Seraphina say that, Keith had no choice but to relent.
After hanging up, he looked deeply at their call history.
He had a habit of recording calls, and upon reviewing their conversation, he knew he didn’t mishear.
Seraphina was pregnant, and the child was Desmond’s.
A bitter smile tugged at his lips, and a wave of melancholy washed over him. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Had he known it would come to this, he shouldn’t have gone abroad leaving Seraphina behind back then. If only he hadn’t given up, Desmond wouldn’t have had the chance now.
But it’s not too late to turn back now; at least he still has a chance.
From Seraphina’s tone, she seems unwilling to have anything further to do with Desmond. In that case, all he needs is a bit more effort, and it’s not impossible to win her over.
The man sitting beside Keith, seeing his changing expressions, couldn’t help but ask, "My dear Eldest Young Master Hughes, is this really worth it? Seraphina is a divorced woman, have you thought it through? Is she the only one for you?"
"She’s the only one," Keith’s gaze was resolute.
"A divorced woman with another man’s child, what on earth is so special about her that has you so smitten?" Ian Lynch couldn’t understand; besides having a pretty face, what was so remarkable about Seraphina?
Keith coldly glanced at him, recalling the little moments with Seraphina, "She’s not like what you imagine, if you don’t understand, don’t make any judgments."
"I was just speaking the truth, is that really so offensive?" Seeing Keith stand up to leave, Ian quickly followed, "Wait for me!"
After hanging up the call, Seraphina lay on the bed, unsure what to do. She had a feeling that Keith had already guessed she was pregnant, and besides, she couldn’t hide her growing belly any longer.
Thinking of this, she decided she might as well go public.
After all, this isn’t the first time she’s been in this situation, and having a child out of wedlock isn’t a big deal to her now, she couldn’t care less about criticism.
Besides, the child will have to meet people eventually, concealing it isn’t a solution.
Having sorted it out, Seraphina consulted Rosalie Quinn, who naturally had no objections. After all, the child was Seraphina’s, and the final decision was hers to make.
Since she’d already decided to keep the baby, it was only a matter of time before she told the world, sooner or later made no difference.
With this in mind, Seraphina stopped hiding and boldly went to work.
Although Camille tried all she could, she couldn’t outmatch her stubborn godmother.
Seraphina’s conspicuousness made it obvious to anyone that she was different from before.
But the mood swings during pregnancy were very unstable, often losing her temper over trivial mistakes, causing the whole company to be somewhat afraid of her.
Knock knock knock!
The sound of knocking was heard, followed by Seraphina’s low voice from inside, "Come in."
"President Sinclair, here are the cooperation documents with Phipps for your review." Assistant Faye Lloyd entered with the documents, not daring to breathe too loudly, afraid of offending Seraphina.
Seeing her cautious demeanor, Seraphina couldn’t help but laugh, "Why are you standing so far away? Do you think I’ll eat you?"
"President Sinclair, you’re joking," Faye awkwardly smiled, but thought to herself, your temper is more threatening than just eating people.
"I’ve reviewed the documents; there aren’t any major issues, but the market research department needs to follow up a bit more, remind them to be attentive." Saying this, Seraphina handed the documents back to Faye, suddenly remembering something, and reminded, "Has the product development department resolved the malfunction? If not, urge them to speed it up."
"Don’t worry, President Sinclair, I’ll take care of it right away." Faye retrieved the documents, and bolted out of the president’s office, fearing Seraphina would change her mood in the next second.
Her mood swings outpaced even the unpredictable weather of June, showing immediate displeasure at any minor flaw and elevating her scolding to new heights.
Many people have suffered from this recently, especially Faye.
As Seraphina’s special assistant, she handled nearly all matters with Seraphina. Initially, departments would approach Seraphina directly, but now everything went through Faye’s hands, having been scolded too many times before.
Irene Rowe, learning about Seraphina’s situation, specifically came over from Bayside City to visit her.
