Under the vampire Lord's protection-Chapter 56: The signs of hypnosis
Chapter 56: The signs of hypnosis
No more questions were asked as Silas dashed, carrying her body into the main infirmary of the manor.
Arabella's efforts to unconfine herself were quite fruitless but noticeable. Silas believed that should she get free of his hold, the young woman would certainly attempt to leave the manor again.
He held her shivering body closer to his, making sure to keep her feet off the ground.
Once in the infirmary, the vampire first grabbed a vial containing Yuniper's extract before popping the stopper and bringing its neck underneath Arabella' nose.
His patience ran thin with it when seconds turned to minutes and no results were yielded. The haziness wouldn't leave her eyes as the only efforts she made were to escape his grasp.
Thus, the vampire merely held her in a reclined position, thinking of potential solutions to his predicament.
The fact that concentrated Yuniper extract did not produce the desired effect only meant that her condition was no coincidence. She was no collateral damage to whatever spell might have been cast. She was its target and without the witch that had cursed her, Silas saw no way of successfully breaking her out of that trance.
Wasting more time was out of the question. In a moment of despair, he sliced his palm open and pressed the wound against her mouth.
In response, her entire body thrashed as though fighting with every fiber to get rid of his blood. She mercilessly clawed at his skin, though her attempts were completely futile due to his skin being too thick to break and her own nails too soft. Her actions only made Silas hold her in place tighter.
Arabella kicked her feet until the first signs of change appeared when the convulsing subsided as her vocal cords seemed to regain their functionality.
Where she'd been completely mute before, after being forced to drink his blood, groans and moans began to escape her.
Her eyes squeezed shut for a good moment before they reopened for Silas to witness the haziness fade away with every second.
When their eyes finally connected, the terrified look on her prompted him to loosen his hold around her, allowing her to stand back on her own. Although she found some difficulty to maintain her weight at first, her muscles gradually readjusting to find the strength to.

"Wh... What is happening?" as weak as can be her voice was.
"You were the victim of a spell," Silas said dryly.
Her lips parted in order for her to speak but no words came out. Instead, as she became aware of the metallic taste to the viscous liquid that lingered in her mouth, her hands flew to clutch around her throat right before a coughing fit overcame her. It went on until her lungs threatened to spill out.
"Blood?" she cried, seeing the crimson splutters ejected with every cough.
"I had to. Bare it for it was the only thing that saved your life,"
When the coughing died down, Arabela's attention turned to her... Incident outlook. Her face had already turned completely red by the time she scrambled to wrap her arms around her chest while the rest of her body continued to quiver.
At that sight, Silas gathered her dripping wet hair and brought it to one side before removing his vest and enveloping her within it.
No part of it fit. In fact, she almost drowned in the fabric, but there were no complaints from her end.
"Thank you," she muttered, eyes on the floor.
"Your heart rate has returned to normal, considering your state," he said.
Still refusing to look him in the eyes, Arabella noted that her heart did indeed drum her chest, its pulse was felt in her throat as well.
"What sort of sorcery would lead me to this?" she asked, tears threatening to fall.
"I am not knowledgeable in witchcraft. However, I do recognize hypnosis when I see it. We will have to wait for the pharmacy keeper to come in for more details. Perhaps they can enlighten us," Silas came closer and took her face in his hands once more, "The natural color of your eyes has returned as well. You are spell free," he then released her.
Although he spoke softly, Silas' tone fluctuated between a cold and a reassuring one, leaving Arabella unsure as to what to think or even feel.
Her eyes focused on her muddy feet, "I went out into the rain, didn't I?"
"You walked all the way through the garden and was making your way to the main gates past the mausoleum,"
His words caused her to feel too heavy for her own legs to support and fumbled for the nearest chair behind herself.
She plopped down, allowing a long and heavy exhale out.
Her head snapped from left to right a few times, "What am I to do? And how did this happen?" she muttered under her breath.
"Nothing," he caught her attention again, "You are to rest and keep your guard up,"
She alternated between clutching at her nightgown and fiddling with her fingers, "I understand but I've never dealt with anything like this before. How am I to keep my guard up when I don't know what to look out for?"
Indeed, hailing from Lustris where magic and witchcraft were strictly prohibited, Arabella did not have much to go on in terms of examples or signs to watch out from.
"Then leave it for me to handle," he sighed, "For the time being, you need to clean yourself and change into something dryer and... thicker," his eyes traveled all over her body.
Arabella practically leapt to her feet and pulled Silas' vest further around herself.
