Twisted Dreams-Chapter 310 - 379: A Brief Return Home
Xiaohai hesitated, stopping in his tracks. He looked at Li Yang, then at his wife and children.
If he followed Li Yang, he couldn’t be with his wife and children.
If he stayed with his wife and children, he couldn’t go home with Li Yang.
He needed to think of a compromise.
What if he let Li Yang follow his wife and children?
Xiaohai quickly shook his head, dismissing the fantastical idea from his mind.
Xiaohai looked at Crow.
Actually, Crow was pretty good.
He became the Emperor of the Demon Race, doing whatever he wanted every day, with a vast territory, living the dream.
Maybe Xiaohai should venture out too?
This way, he could take his wife and children and do whatever they wanted in the Mortal World.
This thought stirred within him.
According to the security regulations, eighteen is considered adulthood because it’s believed that by that age, one can establish their worldview.
No matter if this worldview is right or wrong, good or bad, it is established.
If your worldview is bad, wrong, and harms others, you must face sanctions.
Xiaohai has gained intelligence for two years now, has learned to think, and has established his worldview.
He originally longed for the colorful world outside, and now with children, this longing has grown stronger.
The place Crow can’t return to turns into the place Xiaohai wants to escape from.
Li Yang paused, turning back to look at Xiaohai:
"You’re not coming?"
Xiaohai immediately crouched down, making no sound.
White Wolf saw and went over too, kneeling with the Little White Dog.
Li Yang understood Xiaohai’s meaning and said indifferently:
"If you want to leave, go ahead. But there’s something to mention."
Xiaohai froze for a moment, then raised his head.
Xiaohai wasn’t stupid; he knew Li Yang didn’t see him as family.
He could never compare to Suzu and Great Black, who had grown up with Li Yang.
If it were Suzu and Great Black, Li Yang wouldn’t let them go so easily, right?
Li Yang said:
"The Demon Race of Xia Country is under Great Black’s control. I allow you to not follow Great Black’s orders, but you can’t claim kingship on your own."
Li Yang knew that a Demon with strength, a partner, and children couldn’t remain obedient.
Xiaohai nodded solemnly.
Li Yang said:
"Alright then."
Xiaohai lowered his head again.
Li Yang walked to the Little White Dog, and black flames appeared in his hand, drawing something on the dog’s head.
While drawing, he said:
"I wasn’t expecting you to leave so soon; I didn’t prepare any gifts.
I grant your child the power to command the dead, consider it my gift."
The drawing finished, and a black symbol appeared on the Little White Dog’s forehead.
Li Yang put down the Little White Dog and walked down the mountain.
The moon shone on Li Yang, stretching his shadow long.
Xiaohai’s eyes grew wet, unable to suppress a whimper.
Suzu smiled cheerfully:
"I’ve given your child a name, that counts as a gift!"
Then, Suzu hummed and skipped after Li Yang.
Crow muttered quietly:
"That playful name counts as a gift?"
He walked up to Xiaohai, took out a few fruits from his pocket, and offered them:
"These Transformation Fruits are for you.
In the human world, changing into a human can make things much easier."
Xiaohai was stunned, staring blankly at Crow.
When Xiaohai first awakened his intelligence, he had fought with Crow.
Crow even took some of Xiaohai’s power.
Xiaohai had envied Crow, but when Crow offered these fruits, Luna’s resentment completely vanished.
Xiaohai took a deep look at Crow and roared at the sky.
The ominous Gate of Hell opened, Xiaohai took a deep look back at Crow, then jumped in with his wife and kids.
The pack of wolves followed quickly, carrying the Transformation Fruits.
...
South Sea, Half-Mountain Villa.
The dim lights brought a rare warmth.
Li Yang sat on the sofa watching TV.
Crow sat beside him, glancing from Li Yang to Suzu, wanting to memorize the scene.
Suzu was on the carpet, playing with her phone, suddenly speaking:
"It’s strange."
Li Yang and Crow both turned their attention to Suzu.
Suzu said:
"Xiaohai has eloped with his wife and children, yet the house doesn’t feel empty."
After speaking, Suzu started talking to herself:
"Well, Xiaohai didn’t like making noise, it was always pretty quiet."
Li Yang and Crow shifted their focus away.
One watched the TV in front of the sofa.
The other looked at Li Yang on the sofa.
Seeing them like this, Suzu suddenly chuckled:
"Look at Little Crow, let’s take a picture."
Suzu immediately jumped onto the sofa, sat beside Li Yang, opened her phone’s rear camera, then pulled Crow over.
"One, two, three, cheese!"
After the photo was taken, Suzu quickly opened the album to check.
Suzu laughed heartily.
Li Yang remained expressionless.
Crow’s expression was somewhat awkward, a bit flushed, with a forced smile.
Suzu opened an editing app, tapping on her face rapidly, satisfied with the result:
"Looks good."
Li Yang replied with two words:
"Boring."
Crow scratched his head, awkwardly asking:
"Could I get the photo later?"
Suzu, amused, looked at Crow:
"How can I give it to you? You don’t have a phone."
Crow laughed awkwardly again, scratching his head.
Suzu went upstairs quickly, then came back down swiftly.
She had with her an old, off-brand smartphone.
Suzu generously handed the smartphone to Crow:
"Here, when you ran away, I didn’t give you a gift. Consider this phone a make-up gift. I’ve transferred the photo to this phone."
Crow received the phone as if it were a treasure, looking at the lone photo in the album, smiling.
Li Yang got up, saying:
"Go to sleep early."
He then walked upstairs.
Crow looked around the living room.
The TV was playing a variety show’s sound.
Suzu’s phone was making rapid firing sound effects from a game.
Crow felt the quietness was terrifying.
Crow couldn’t bear the silence:
"I should leave too."
Suzu paused:
"Not staying the night? You rarely come home."
Crow glanced once more at the living room he often dreamed of, then laughed freely:
"I still worry about the Demon Race."
Suzu closed her mouth, then spoke after a moment:
"If you’re wronged, come back home.
Remember to run home when it rains."
Crow felt a pang in his nose.
As the Emperor of the Demon Race, he’s been wronged plenty.
The Security Administration always bullied him.
Crow blinked hard, fearing tears might fall, and then stepped out:
"I’m off, Sister."
It was the first time he called Suzu sister.
Suzu chased to the door, sending Crow off, watching his figure disappear into the sky, feeling quite uneasy.
She suddenly realized that Li Yang doesn’t know Crow left!
"Li!"
Just as Suzu was about to call Li Yang’s name, ash drifted down from above, landing on her head.
Suzu looked up, seeing the second floor.
The bedroom lights were out, but the window was still open.
Li Yang was at the window, smoking, watching Crow leave.
Suzu closed her mouth.
Li Yang wasn’t heartless, he was the head of this household, he considered more than all of them.
Originally, through the crystal ball divination, Li Yang knew there would be powerful enemies in the future, and then went through the ’Scavenging Elder’ situation.
Li Yang needed Crow to have something to rely on.
Just in case there’s a major upheaval in the future, Crow wouldn’t be unable to survive without Li Yang.
As for herself...
She’ll just remain a little useless.
If Li Yang wants to collect bird’s eggs, she’ll build the ladder; if Li Yang wants to catch fish, she’ll weave the net.
If Li Yang were to die...
Hmm, he won’t die, this guy is the Death God; unless the world ends, he won’t die.
No need to worry then.
She hopes to die before Li Yang.
Because if her world no longer had Li Yang, it would be too terrifying.
The window of the second floor bedroom closed.
Suzu gazed at Li Yang’s bedroom, murmured:
"Are you afraid too?"
