Chapter 1080: Chapter 1080: Jocelyn’s View on Love

Gotta say, Justin’s pretty handy. He teamed up perfectly with Finn Morgan, and they assembled the barbecue grill in no time.

Ian Shelby was sorting the food when Vera Ford walked over. "Need me to do anything?" she asked.

"Chop these into chunks and then skewer them." Ian handed her a bunch of bamboo skewers.

"Alright."

Vera grabbed a bag of potatoes and eggplants, picking up a sharp fruit knife.

Ian didn’t bother warning her to be careful, considering those hands had operated scalpels in surgeries, cutting some potato chunks was nothing.

Inside the neatly arranged glass house.

Hailey Hale was preparing tea leaves. Jocelyn Morgan had just boiled some water with the kettle and was gathering tea utensils when she inadvertently glanced out the window...

She saw Ian Shelby working seamlessly with the unfamiliar woman and couldn’t help but wonder, "Did he find a girlfriend so quickly? Could there be a flash marriage too?"

"Jocelyn, what’s up with you today?" Hailey asked, glancing at her, "You’re keeping quite an eye on this genius doctor!"

"Not really." Jocelyn smiled, "For someone who doesn’t believe in marriage like me, men don’t usually catch my eye. I’m just curious why all of you are rushing into marriage."

"Just found the right person, I guess?" she answered.

In the yard, the breeze was comfortable, some leaves danced with the wind before eventually falling.

Mia Lane was accompanying Ethan Dalton, both as a sister and with a doctor’s perspective, observing him.

Vera Ford’s phone rang. She quickly took off her disposable gloves, picked up her phone, and glanced at the caller ID before answering, "Hey, Mom."

It wasn’t clear what the woman on the other end was saying.

Vera turned to glance at Ian, smiling as she replied, "Don’t worry about me, I’ve found Ian. I’m staying at his place for now. He’ll also help me with the job, so rest assured."

After a while, Vera held the phone to Ian’s ear, "Ian, my mom wants to talk to you!" since his hands were busy.

"Hello, Auntie," Ian spoke warmly and politely.

The middle-aged woman on the other end laughed, "Ian, I must trouble you with Vivian for a while. It’s her first time in such a big city like Riventhal, unfamiliar with everything. Thankfully she has you."

"Oh, Auntie, you’re too kind. It’s convenient for me anyway. The place is big, and since she’s a med school graduate, she can lend a hand sometimes too." Ian said this deliberately to ease any psychological burden on the other side.

Vera felt thrilled hearing such praise. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

After the call ended, Vera half-jokingly, half-seriously asked, "Ian, do you need a personal assistant?"

"No need." he answered instantly.

This left the girl shocked inside. She turned to look at his calm, handsome face, "Why not? Wouldn’t having help be nice? It could make things a lot easier."

"I like the silence." Ian replied softly.

Vera was briefly stunned, and quickly fell silent, putting her gloves back on and getting back to skewering the food.

Inside the glass house.

"Jocelyn, have you ever been in love?" Hailey asked curiously.

Jocelyn countered, "What do you think love is? What’s your standard?"

"Huh?" Hailey clearly didn’t catch on.

The girl asked, "Is it confessing to someone? Establishing a relationship? Is it holding hands? Or kissing? Or even sleeping together? Or... is it having feelings? What do you think love is?"

"Well, aren’t these all included?" Hailey asked curiously, "Aren’t these things that happen in love?"

"NO." Jocelyn’s lips curled upward as she gazed out the window, "Only having feelings counts as true love, everything else is just adults seeking what they need from each other."
