Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations-Chapter 1056: Daddy Loves You Very Much
The rain outside was too heavy, making it really unsuitable to drive, and the curtain of rain was so thick.
David Dalton walked into the living room, feeling a chill all over. He glanced at everyone behind him, "Excuse me." Then he went upstairs, full of resentment towards Joan Graham.
He found himself unable to control his emotions, needing time to process them.
Mia Lane was also not feeling any better. She turned her eyes to Justin Kingston, then quietly followed, feeling it was time to clarify some things with her father.
Trevor and Justin sat down on the sofa. Butler Warren brought tea and prepared a fruit platter.
"You haven’t eaten, have you? The food is still warm, do you want to eat first?" Butler Warren softly inquired.
The two men shook their heads. Who could eat with such anger, they felt full just from that.
A flash of lightning tore through the night sky, followed by a deafening thunder.
"Thank you, Assistant Trevor," Justin turned his eyes, a seriousness settled in his profound gaze.
Trevor was slightly stunned. It reminded him of the jealousy Justin had shown a few hours ago, which was completely out of character for the big CEO.
Justin said, "If it weren’t for you, it would be Mia getting hurt tonight." A consequence he could not bear.
If it were Mia now lying on the operating table in the emergency room, Justin would surely go mad.
"You’re welcome," Trevor’s lips slightly curved, "Protecting her is my duty."
The word duty made the big CEO pause slightly. Not as a husband, what duty was that?
To prevent further thoughts, Trevor explained, "The eldest lady of the Dalton family, isn’t it my duty to protect her?"
Justin lifted his teacup, raising it towards him as a substitute for a toast, and they lightly clinked their cups, taking a sip of tea.
"You may not know much about Sean Dalton," Trevor spoke of her, "She likes to show one face to people and another behind their backs. What she presents in front of the cameras are all illusions; she has a lot of dark history."
Justin fiddled with his teacup, "Why tell me this?"
"It’s just sometimes, I wonder, why are there such vast differences between people?" Trevor sighed, "Some people are born humble and kind, while others have an inherent evil."
About what he said, Justin, who has long been in the business world, also felt—
"There are all kinds of people in this world, but the ones whose energy aligns with yours are really few. There are always oddballs every year, but this year, particularly so."
Upstairs, Mia followed her father into the study.
David Dalton heard the footsteps; even without turning around, he knew his daughter had come in.
Outside, the rain poured, the sound of rain seeming to drown all the world’s sounds.
"...Dad."
"If it weren’t for wanting to give Ethan a complete home, I might have divorced long ago." David Dalton stood by the window with his hands behind his back.
He turned his gaze to the rain hitting the banana leaves outside, his face full of sorrow.
Mia was slightly stunned upon hearing this; her father had thought about divorce?
Remembering that Ethan Dalton was not her father’s biological son, Mia’s hatred for Joan Graham intensified. This woman was too much!
Seeing her father so upset, his body and mind heavily affected, she couldn’t bear to tell him the cruel truth.
David Dalton, recalling everything that happened tonight, still felt waves of fear. "Stella," he turned to look at his daughter, eyes brimming with tears.
"..." Facing her father’s gaze, Mia was already deeply moved, even without speaking.
"Dad really loves you," David Dalton’s voice was tinged with sadness. He wasn’t good at being sentimental, but tonight he spoke from the heart.
"All these years, although Dad couldn’t find you, you often appeared in his dreams."
"That’s why Dad never works overtime, always comes home early to sleep, hoping to meet you sooner in his dreams."
