Tribal Sign-In: Immortal At The Start-Chapter 257: Yes, But No
From the start, Rion had planned to use Honoured One on the royal daughter, and the only thing he needed to make it really hit hard was for her to craft an image of him in his mind.
’I’ll get you cured,’ Rion determined and took a step forward.
But before the Honoured One could affect her, Zaelyane entered the pagoda and shouted, "Don’t do it!"
He stopped, and the royal daughter looked at Zaelyane with a confused expression.
"Zaelyane... what’s going on? Why are you reacting like that?"
Zaelyane ignored her and spoke after taking a deep breath, "There is no need for you to do that, she will help us..."
His gaze shifted between Zaelyane and the royal daughter, and he remarked in his head, ’Should I stop? But it would make things easier...’
He stayed silent for a few moments before he mumbled, "It’s not about being easy but about being right..."
His eyes drifted towards Dora, who was asleep in his embrace, and he stored the spear back in his inventory and mumbled in his head, ’Intent Veil.’
Intent Veil instantly blocked Honoured One’s effect, and Rion stepped in front of the royal daughter.
Seeing the figure of the young man, the royal daughter placed the back of her palm over her lips and said, "You are much younger than I had thought."
He stared into her emerald green eyes and stated, "Your Zone is too weak to be spread in such a big area."
She smiled. "No, your Zone is just too strong."
He agreed to her words with a nod as if it was the most normal thing.
Zaelyane took a calming breath and muttered flatly, "I apologise for his rude behavior."
The royal daughter looked at her and commented, "You do not look like you are."
"You shouldn’t have attacked him," Zaelyane answered without a single change in her expression.
’They seem close,’ Rion thought upon listening to them.
"I didn’t mean to," the royal daughter mumbled. "It’s just been too long since anyone has come to me."
Zaelyane shook her head and walked out to check on Yuura.
The royal daughter’s gaze moved to Dora, and her spirit eye shone green as she added, "Oh... that’s surprising."
Rion frowned. "What is?"
"That’s the purple fog of the red and black mountains, isn’t it?" She stammered.
’How does she know?’ He shook his head. "It is and it isn’t."
"That makes sense," she nodded. "It is a bit different than the one I remember... It’s grimmer."
"You’ve been to the red and black mountains...?" He questioned with a look full of expectations.
A chuckle escaped her lips and rang like the chime of tiny bronze bells as she answered, "I have and I haven’t."
’Is she trying to get on my nerves?’ He thought as he once again pondered whether to use Honoured One or not.
"It wasn’t me who had been there but the royal daughter of the past," she explained as she stood up from her cushion.
The pale wooden floor creaked softly as her pristine feet touched it, and she walked into the filtering sunlight.
The smoke followed her like a blanket of clouds.
’Why does she have a special effect?’ He thought as he followed behind her.
As she walked, the flowers near her steps glowed brighter, and she hummed a soft rhythm.
Hearing her serene voice, Rion felt like he was once the child who had grinned at everything.
A few steps before them were Zaelyane and Yuura, who were already awake.
<Are you fine?> Rion questioned.
Yuura gave him a nod and looked at the royal daughter.
Silently, all three of them followed behind the royal daughter, and she spoke, "For some reason, I cannot read you... It’s as if something within you is stopping me from prying into your secrets."
’She was trying to read me...?’ His expression darkened as he had felt nothing when all this time she was trying to find out his secrets.
He shook off the grim thoughts and formed a conclusion as to why she couldn’t read him, ’Is it because of Absolute Will, or Abysmal Flame, or Absolute Seal?’
Those three were the strongest abilities or entities he had, but all he could do was take a guess.
’No point thinking about it.’ He sighed and said, "Is this the first time something like this has happened to you?"
They entered the tunnel-like cave, and the royal daughter responded with a shake of her head, "No, it is and it isn’t."
A vein throbbed at his forehead, and he weighed, ’Should I just use Honoured One?’
A smug look appeared on her extremely beautiful face, and she explained, "The royal daughters of the past had met three beings similar to you... Though you are still different."
Just as those words reached his ears, he stopped in his tracks, his eyes wide in disbelief. ’It must be them, right?’
’There can’t be anyone else than them.’
Hope blazed into his eyes, and he asked, "Do—"
"No, I don’t know these three beings or what they are. I only know that they are dangerous and our enemies," the royal daughter answered before he could even voice his question.
He pressed his lips in a thin line and remarked inwardly with a disappointed expression, ’She doesn’t know either, huh...’
"Umm..." a soft voice reached his ear, and he came out of his thoughts.
He looked at Dora and saw a pair of brown eyes looking at him.
’Why is she cute?’ He wondered and whispered, "Are you awake?"
"Mhm..." she slowly bobbed her head and asked while looking around at the cave, "Where are we?"
Rion’s lips parted, and at the same moment, he stepped out of the cave. "We are in Alsyandra, the motherland of elves."
Dora peeked out of his embrace and looked at the motherland of the elves and mumbled with a mindstruck expression, "It’s beautiful..."
He nodded. "It is. But you are more."
Hearing him, she let out a low giggle, and the elves looked at them in shock.
