Tribal Sign-In: Immortal At The Start-Chapter 206: Brother’s Chatter
After Rion finished his words, the squad leaders cupped their hands for the final time and, with a devoted farewell, all of them left the place — all except Karhun.
Rion glanced at Karhun, and without saying anything, he walked inside his hut.
Karhun followed behind him, the wooden floor creaked under his muscular bear-like frame, and Rion, who was sitting in Dora’s bed, fell into his vision.
Rion pointed at the empty fur bed and said, "Take a seat."
Karhun nodded, walked over to Rion’s fur bed and slowly sat on it.
For the next three minutes, they continued to stare into each other’s eyes before Rion finally decided to break the silence.
"Are you unhappy with my decision?"
Karhun shook his head. "No, I am not."
A surprised expression appeared on Rion’s face, and he mumbled while scratching his cheek with his finger, "I was quite certain that you’d disagree with me."
Karhun let out a chuckle, placing a hand on Rion’s right shoulder, he said, "Even though I wish to go with you, I won’t force you.
"Dora is my friend as well, and as a friend and a warrior, I believe it would be better to follow your decisions."
Rion’s lips lifted into a warm smile.
Seeing that, a reminiscing glint flickered in Karhun’s eyes, and he said, "A lot of things have changed within just a few years... You, who was once considered weird, is now the high commander... and I, who used to be bullied because of how I phrased everything, am now a squad leader that commands four other warriors..."
A similar glint passed through Rion’s eyes as he remembered those days, and Karhun continued, "Even though I have now achieved beyond what my younger self always wanted... I always feel like going back to that time just so I can once again feel the thrill of life without any responsibilities."
A dry chuckle escaped Rion’s lips, and he whispered, "Most of us want to live a carefree life... a life without responsibilities is just that sweet, but with each connection we build, we also gain responsibilities... I once used to think of responsibility as a chain, but over time, I came to understand that connections and responsibilities are inevitable for any person who truly wants to live."
Karhun chuckled and commented, "You are really weird, you know?"
Rion smirked. "What about it?"
Their lips trembled, and both of them burst out laughing.
Once their laughter stopped, Karhun looked at Rion with a serious expression and asked, "How are you feeling?"
Rion’s expression hardened at once, looking away, he responded, "I am great as usual, of course."
Karhun didn’t believe him for a moment. "Look at me."
Pushing his hand away from his shoulder, Rion stood up from his bed and stated, "I am fine, Karhun. You should go back."
Karhun stared at him. Heaving a sigh, he swung his fist at the back of his head and just as it was about to touch him, Rion froze him in his spot with his aura.
He slowly turned towards Karhun and muttered, "What are you doing?"
Karhun gritted his teeth and growled, "Stop acting like you are fine! Do you think your stupid act can fool me, you bastard?!"
Rion tightened his jaw and spat furiously, "What else do you want me to DO?!"
He pushed Karhun onto the bed.
Pacing frantically, hands raking through his hair. He claimed. "I am the high commander! I am supposed to be the star that will guide us to glory, YET seeing Dora like that just makes me want to run away with her, away from all this trouble!!"
He twisted his head towards Karhun, his eyes blazing with cold flames of defiance and determination, and he stated, "But I won’t run away! If the world has decided to take her away from me, I will destroy and create the world anew!"
"The world is wrong and unfair, and I would change it into what I want it to be... even if it’s unfair to others, I would force it to be fair to me."
With each word, purple miasma and golden flames swirled and blazed at his left and right, respectively.
Seeing the purple miasma, Karhun’s breath caught, his eyes trembled in shock, but the next moment, he remembered the words that Rion had told them at their group’s site.
His lips arched upwards, and he muttered, "Y-You did it! You actually did it!"
Rion’s eyes swiftly shifted to his left, the demonic energy fell into his vision, he commanded it to move into his arm and much to his surprise, the demonic energy listened.
The demonic energy that was swirling around his left half condensed and began to crawl onto his arm, making its way towards his open palm.
Karhun watched it happen with wide eyes, and just as all of the escaped demonic energy reached his palm, he clenched it, and the demonic energy vanished like smoke.
"Well... that was sudden..." he mumbled with an absurd expression on his face, and Karhun was now staring at him in both awe and fear.
Rion walked over to his door, pushed it open and said while pointing outside, "I think you should go back for now..."
Karhun stood up from his bed, walked over to the door in a daze and left without saying anything.
Rion watched him leave, and just as he disappeared from his vision, he heaved a sigh and closed the door.
Stepping further inside, he looked at the purple dot on his chest and mumbled, "You don’t leave any occasion to act up, do you?"
Shaking his head, he walked over to his bed and fell onto it.
He rubbed his face in the soft fur of the bed, let out a frustrated sigh and allowed the exhaustion to hit him.
His eyes turned heavy, and before even a moment could pass, he fell into the embrace of sleep.
But even then, his aura was still revolving around his heart to keep the demonic energy within.
