Tribal Lord: SSS Ranked Taming Primitive Beauties and The Beasts!-Chapter 55: Betrayal
"What’s wrong?" Kargan knitted his eyebrows.
The old man didn’t reply and immediately blasted the door before appearing at the wall, squinting his eyes as he looked toward the south.
Two seconds later Kargan appeared beside him and looked confused, as he had no idea what the old man was up to.
Looking at the old man, who seemed to be focusing his attention toward the south, he followed along but couldn’t see anything—that was until a few moments later, when his expression became solemn instantly.
"Th-there’s no way he can clear the Red Gate—5th Rank Dungeon." He suddenly got a chill across his spine when he saw Ash’s group at a distance away from the stronghold.
When he heard Kargan’s words, the old man suddenly realized something and immediately made his move.
The wall below him instantly cracked and crumbled down as he used all of his strength to run away from this place.
"Oh, it seems that the old man isn’t that stupid." Garnak chuckled when he looked at the old man, who finally made his move to run away when he sensed something was amiss.
"He dared to destroy the wall that had just been built?" Old Ni frowned when he saw the destroyed wall.
"What? The wall is destroyed?" Ash’s right eye twitched in anger.
He looked at Garnak and said coldly. "You better not come back without bringing that old man in good shape."
"I won’t disappoint you." Garnak chuckled lightly before immediately vanishing into thin air as he moved at an extremely fast speed.
On the other hand, Kargan fell together with the wall, as he had no strength left to even run away, with his body shivering uncontrollably. He could only watch the group approaching toward the stronghold as the seconds went by.
The other tribe members noticed the commotion and immediately gathered near the destroyed wall.
At first they were surprised when they saw Kargan’s sorry state, but when one of them shouted that Ash’s group finally came back and was heading this way, they instantly became overjoyed. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Mira and the little dragon became overjoyed, and she directly passed by Kargan, running and heading toward Ash’s group.
The moment Mira passed by Kargan, he suddenly had an idea in mind and moved without hesitation, as he intended to take Mira and Ash’s pet as his hostage.
Unfortunately for him, the moment he looked at Mira with an ill intention was caught by Vakra early, and he made a move before Kargan could make his.
The moment Kargan got up and charged midway, Vakra appeared in front of him and uppercut his stomach, throwing him into the air casually.
Even if Vakra were to move right after Kargan made his move, he could still intercept him considering the fact that their distance wasn’t that far.
The moment Kargan fell to the ground, he coughed up a few times and looked at Vakra with a horrified expression. "You!"
"Just stay obedient and don’t make a scene." Vakra chuckled lightly and tilted his gaze toward the girl he had just saved.
Mira didn’t even glance at Kargan sprawled on the ground as her eyes were locked on one person only.
The distance between them shrank rapidly as she ran across the meadow in front of the stronghold. The moment their eyes met, all the restraint she had been holding back for hours shattered.
"You finally came back, you dummy!" She shouted, her voice trembling despite the scolding tone. "Do you know how worried I was?!"
Her eyes were already red, and before Ash could even open his mouth, she leaped toward him with full force.
Ash, who had just stopped walking, was completely unprepared. Even though he was far stronger now, he hadn’t braced himself. Mira’s body collided into his chest, and the sudden impact pushed him backward.
Both of them fell onto the ground with a thud.
The little red dragon on her shoulder was thrown off from the impact, tumbling across the ground before landing on its feet with an indignant squeak.
Mira didn’t care as she buried her face into Ash’s chest, her hands gripping tightly onto his bare body as if afraid he would disappear again.
"You idiot, you absolute idiot..." She muttered softly. "Red Gate and a 5th Rank at that... Do you know what that means?!"
Ash lay there for a second, staring at the sky.
Then he smiled bitterly as he realized something. He slowly wrapped one arm around her back, patting her gently.
He said softly. "I’m sorry, I didn’t know you were that worried."
And he truly didn’t know, as in his mind, it had always been filled with calculating the risk and everything since his life was on the line.
Mira trembled slightly against him and whispered weakly. "I thought you were going to die. There was no news for hours before you finally asked about the situation here."
Her voice trailed off as tears soaked into his bare body.
Ash’s expression softened. He lifted one hand and gently patted her head.
"I’m fine, look? Not even a scratch." He chuckled lightly.
However, as he held her like that, he suddenly stiffened slightly. The soft, unmistakable pressure pressed firmly against his chest.
His mind blanked for a split second.
’Stay calm. Don’t get worked up in this situation, or it will be awkward,’ Ash thought to himself.
He forced his breathing to remain steady, trying to calm himself down.
Fortunately, he was not some inexperienced teenager. He would not react to something like this before he felt a slight shift.
His face twitched. Ash coughed lightly and carefully adjusted his hand position, trying to maintain a dignified posture while still comforting her.
"I said I’m fine," he repeated gently.
At that moment, a small red dragon suddenly leaped back into view.
The little red dragon flapped its tiny wings and landed directly on Ash’s forehead.
"Roar!"
It roared angrily and smacked Ash’s forehead with its tiny claws, as if scolding him.
Ash blinked. "Oh? Even you?"
Leon let out another cute roar before pressing its small head against Ash’s cheek and rubbing it affectionately.
Its tail swished anxiously.
Ash couldn’t help but laugh softly. "You too, huh?"
Leon huffed, then suddenly opened its tiny mouth and bit gently onto Ash’s cheek. It wasn’t hard enough to hurt, but enough to express its dissatisfaction.
Mira lifted her head slightly, her tear-streaked face now mixed with a small pout.
"He didn’t want to eat at all until now and kept looking toward the south." She said.
Leon immediately nodded vigorously.
Ash sighed softly. "So I’m the villain here."
Mira sniffed lightly but finally loosened her grip a little. Still, she didn’t completely let go, as she was still acting as if Ash could vanish the moment she let him go.
"You’re not allowed to scare me like that again." She puffed her cheek cutely.
"Okay, okayyy... I won’t." Ash replied with a faint smile.
They stayed like that for a few more seconds, until a light cough echoed nearby.
"Ahem."
Uncle Zan stood a short distance away as he crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow. "You’re not worried about your dad?"
