Treasure Hunt: Tycoon's Priceless Runaway Wife-Chapter 34: The Cost of Eating
Chapter 34: Chapter 34: The Cost of Eating
Le Tong was eating lunch tastelessly while thinking about how to express gratitude to those two.
Since inviting them for a meal was not an option, she had to find another method.
How about buying them some small gifts?
Once this idea popped up, Le Tong began racking her brains about what might be appropriate to give them.
After some fruitless pondering, Le Tong simply put her lunchbox on the table, scooped a mouthful of rice, and began typing while chewing, entering the search term "what gift is suitable for a male boss."
The answers were bizarre, but the most common were variations of, "You like him, don’t you? Trying to confess? Then give a tie, belt, scarf – it suggests binding him!"
Le Tong silently sneered. That cold-faced, emotionless man, who has no clue about romance and is a total bore, whoever likes him is asking for trouble, and she doesn’t want that!
Thus, Le Tong immediately ruled out those three gifts with special meanings.
Looking further down, there was basically no substantial advice, and Le Tong had no choice but to abandon the idea of searching for answers online.
If it were gifts for Luo Yuanyuan or other female friends, Le Tong would be adept because they knew each other well.
But regarding Ji Rui and Lawyer Fan, aside from work-related connections, Le Tong couldn’t hit it off with them; she didn’t know their likes or needs at all.
Moreover, both of them were wealthy; whatever they used, wore, or ate was outrageously expensive.
If she really wanted to cater to their tastes and buy suitable gifts, she simply couldn’t afford them!
Thinking about this, Le Tong couldn’t help but feel a bit discouraged. It seemed even the gift route was blocked. Was she just going to owe them a favor for nothing?
Just as she was deep in thought, the phone on the table rang.
Le Tong instinctively returned to her full-throttle working state, "Hello, Ji Family."
"What time are you having dinner with Lawyer Fan tonight?"
Ji Rui’s voice popped out from the receiver, startling Le Tong.
"President, do you have time? It doesn’t matter for us, we’ll check your time!"
She knew Ji Rui’s speaking habits too well; when he asked like that, it usually meant he was considering attending.
"Certainly not!" Just as Le Tong was about to feel happy, Ji Rui on the other side quickly poured cold water on her.
"Ugh! Then..."
Le Tong cussed inwardly; this President Ji was truly nasty. Since he insisted on saying he had no time, why did he tease her? Was it fun bullying her as a small secretary?
"However, if you agree to one thing for me, squeezing out an hour isn’t impossible..."
Ji Rui, though typically cold and taciturn, as a successful business mogul, had honed dodging skills to perfection.
Le Tong knew full well he’d already dug a big pit for her to jump into but had no other choice.
"President, go on."
"Come over Saturday to make dinner for me, I’ll decide the menu."
When Ji Rui said that, Le Tong immediately thought of the Ji Family’s young master, so she asked tentatively, "Is this for the young master?"
"Mm." Ji Rui didn’t conceal it.
If last time, Le Tong had reluctantly agreed to help Ji Rui prepare food for an outing, this time, she agreed quite readily.
"Alright!"
After agreeing, she inwardly exclaimed it wasn’t good, she seemed to have promised Luo Yuanyuan to go over Saturday to apologize to his dad.
Oh well, it’s rare for President Ji to use such a method to exchange for a meal; I’ll have to postpone Luo Yuanyuan to Sunday, risking it.
After all, she’s my good girlfriend; girlfriends are for sharing secrets, and also for offending!
"For the dinner location, President, you decide, okay?"
Le Tong was usually very thrifty, but she wasn’t stingy where money was needed. Since she was inviting someone to dinner, naturally, she wanted to respect their choice. Ji Rui wasn’t ordinary; if she casually picked a place and invited him, he’d surely be upset.
For a moment, Le Tong truly wanted to see Ji Rui’s sullen face, but she quickly suppressed such a mischievous mindset.
"Dragon Hotel." Dragon was Ji Rui’s most frequently chosen hotel for dining with clients.
Though aware of how expensive that place was, Le Tong had no objections and agreed readily, "Alright, I’ll call to book a room, is seven o’clock okay?"
"Mm."
