Treasure Hunt: Tycoon's Priceless Runaway Wife-Chapter 117: If Emotions Could Be Demanded (Part 1)
Chapter 117: Chapter 117: If Emotions Could Be Demanded (Part 1)
For Le Tong, there are two things she finds most terrifying and wants to avoid.
One is owing a debt, whether it’s money or a favor.
The other is unrequited love, having expectations of someone else without reason, and when they are not met, the only one in pain is yourself.
But Ji Rui’s words and actions today kept making her overthink!
Although she had given herself two enough reasons to be convinced, hearing Ji Rui ask Zhong Hao like that made her heart beat a little faster.
Others might not find anything wrong with Ji Rui’s words, but having been by his side for more than half a year, Le Tong could sense most of Ji Rui’s emotional changes.
Ji Rui is in a very bad mood now, but why is he in a bad mood? Le Tong only hoped she was overthinking!
Le Tong only recently discovered that Ji Rui was interested in her.
But she did not believe that Ji Rui’s interest in her would last for long. After all, with a man like Ji Rui, what woman could he not have?
Was it worth doing something as childish as a rash kid for a difficult prey like her that isn’t even the best?
In Le Tong’s understanding, Ji Rui is not a playboy.
But Ji Rui is definitely not some pure abstinent man, otherwise, he wouldn’t have a secret five-year-old son with a mother.
Men in high society have all sorts of games to play, besides playing antiques, cars, and many other expensive hobbies; playing with women is probably also an endless pastime for those men.
But with Ji Rui’s qualifications, he basically doesn’t have to put any effort, and countless women would automatically come to him, hence even knowing he is interested in her, Le Tong didn’t think Ji Rui would spend much energy on her.
When Le Tong was trying her best to convince herself not to overthink, she heard Zhong Hao reply to Ji Rui.
"Tongtong’s computer is fine, I was just here to catch up with her."
Le Tong couldn’t help but glare at Zhong Hao. A few minutes ago, she was "Miss Le" in Zhong Hao’s mouth, and in a blink of an eye, she became "Tongtong"?
This glare, in Ji Rui’s eyes, however, had a different meaning.
"Are you two close?"
This time, he wasn’t asking Zhong Hao, but staring at Le Tong.
Le Tong was about to shake her head when Zhong Hao cut in, "Tongtong is my junior!"
Ji Rui frowned, glanced at him, and then looked at Le Tong, "Another junior?"
The look, and in between the lines, seemed to question Le Tong: Yang Sheng is your senior, this one is also your senior, isn’t that too many seniors?!
"Yes, like Special Assistant Yang, they are both disciples of Professor Liu, and also my seniors!"
Le Tong spoke the truth, without any inclination towards anyone.
Because, in her view, even if Ji Rui is interested in her, Zhong Hao is definitely not an ideal choice as a cover.
"So, are you done catching up? I have some things I’d like to discuss with Director Zhong!"
Ji Rui looked at Zhong Hao, this time, with a purely business-like expression. After all, Le Tong wasn’t enough to make him mix business with personal affairs!
"I can chat with Tongtong anytime, now is work time, so work matters should be addressed first."
Zhong Hao followed Ji Rui into the office, and the two sat on the sofa in the reception area.
"Director Zhong, you said this black screen incident was caused by a targeted hacker attack on the Ji Family’s system, did our system suffer any hits?"
Ji Rui originally went out to handle something and rushed back immediately after hearing the news.
If the Ji Family’s computer system had been infiltrated, with some trade secrets stolen or some data altered, the loss and impact would be no less than a major stock market turmoil.
Zhong Hao’s expression showed not a trace of tension, probably because he had tremendous confidence in the defense system he personally designed.
"No, the system initiated an automatic protection mode, so during the blackout, it automatically cut off the hacker’s intrusion."
Ji Rui’s demeanor noticeably relaxed, having been sitting upright before, he now leaned back into the sofa with his arm on the backrest, and then he asked.
"Did you find any clues?"
Zhong Hao brought in the coffee Le Tong had made for him, took a sip, and said, "Well, I did some tricks earlier, we should catch the perpetrator soon, for now, we only know the culprit is overseas."
Ji Rui’s expression sharpened, he didn’t have many overseas enemies, to count, there were only three or four, among them were his "good brothers" Ji Wen and Ji Wu.
"How long do you think it will take to find the culprit?"
What Ji Rui asked was the time to catch the perpetrator, but what he was really thinking about was how much time was left before he would break with Mr. Ji.
"It’s hard to say, it depends on whether he takes the bait. If he doesn’t act again soon, then I won’t be able to trace him out."
Zhong Hao has dealt with Ji Rui for days and knows that flattering words won’t work, it’s better to speak honestly.
"Alright, get it done as soon as possible!" Ji Rui was clueless in this matter, so he had no choice but to delegate everything to Zhong Hao.
The two chatted for a while more, and then Ji Rui’s personal phone, left on the coffee table, started ringing. Seeing that matters have been mostly discussed, Zhong Hao tactfully stood up to take his leave.
Ji Rui waited for Zhong Hao to exit before picking up the phone, as he expected, it was Mr. Ji on the line.
"Ah Ru, I’m Baobao’s grandfather, do you have to treat me like a thief or kidnapper?" The phone had barely connected, when Mr. Ji’s robust voice rang out fiercely.
Ji Rui glanced up at the ticking wall clock, this was the time for Baobao to finish school, and presumably, the old man, not picking up his beloved grandson, was probably fussing rudely at the kindergarten right now!
"Whether I have to do this, don’t you already know that best?!"
Ji Wen and Ji Wu are currently detained by the Y Country police, and given their connections, it is temporarily impossible for them to find anyone to act on their behalf, so it certainly couldn’t be those two who found a way to deal with him, Ji Rui, in such a short time.
This left only Mr. Ji on the other end of the phone.
"You mean, I can’t even see Baobao from now on?" Mr. Ji, unaware of his son’s far-reaching thoughts on the phone, was only spinning around his grandson.
"I never said that, besides, aren’t you quite busy these days? Where do you find time to take care of Baobao?"
According to the feedback from Yang Sheng’s side, after selling off the stocks for cash, the old man spent quite a bit of money and manpower in Y Country to establish connections. Now, having employed hackers to attack Ji Family, where would he find the energy to take care of Baobao?
"Ah Ru, do you have to do this so ruthlessly?"
Mr. Ji only assumed that Ji Rui, as his son, had no regard for him, yet he didn’t realize he was continuously crossing Ji Rui’s limits.
"From the moment you sold off the Ji Family stocks, did you ever think of me? Did you ever consider how doing so would put me in such a position?"
