Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder Suddenly Made a Comeback!-Chapter 291 - : To Hell with Sister Complex!
Early in the morning, Jiang Li’s hospital room door was knocked.
Jiang Yan tossed and turned on the bed, unwilling to wake up.
“Who is it, coming to knock this early? Didn’t I tell the nursing assistant to come after eight?”
Jiang Li had been awake for a while already, having spent an hour in the gym downstairs before coming up, and was now sitting beside the bed reading a book.
After a glance at Jiang Yan on the accompanying bed, she spoke with indifference.
“Go and open the door.”
If this had been in the past, Jiang Yan would definitely have thrown a tantrum, but now, he just yawned, got up from the bed, and staggered to the door.
The next second, a bunch of roses were thrust directly in front of his eyes.
However, when she saw who had opened the door, the roses in Wen Jiaojiao’s hands instantly drooped.
“Why is it you?”
Jiang Yan replied irritably, “Why can’t it be me?”
“Get out of the way, I’m here to see Jiang Li!” frёewebηovel.cѳm
She pushed past Jiang Yan and walked in.
As soon as she saw Jiang Li sitting by the window, her face brightened into a smile, and she excitedly ran over.
“Lili, it’s so good to see you again at last!”
Jiang Yan scoffed and was about to close the door when another pair of large hands rested on the doorframe.
“Brother Yan, don’t rush, we’re here too.” Qi Tianyu panted as he pulled down his mask, then waved at the man behind him, who was also dressed up tightly, “Mr. He, hurry up, just in case someone sees us later.”
Jiang Yan watched the two enter the hospital room.
Once inside the room, Qi Tianyu took off his mask and hat, letting out a sigh of relief.
“There are still quite a few people in this hospital, nearly got recognized and gawked at, lucky I ran fast.”
He Yun also removed his disguise, revealing his handsome face.
He walked straight up to Jiang Li and placed the gift in his hands down.
“You… Are you feeling better?” he asked.
Just as Jiang Li was about to reply, Jiang Yan came over with his hands on his hips.
“Hey, hey, hey, did you get my permission to come over like this, in such a large group?”
Wen Jiaojiao looked disdainfully at his bird’s-nest hair, “Why do we need your permission? We’re here to see Lili, okay?”
“I….”
Jiang Yan was rendered speechless.
He wished he had taken a couple more bullets and not recovered so quickly, so he could have legitimately received everyone’s sympathies and well-wishes.
But then, his cell phone rang.
Jiang Yan picked it up; it was his group of friends from the Capital.
He answered the call with a sneer, “Yo, Mr. Chen, how do you have time to call me?”
“Hey now, Young Master Jiang, don’t be mad, it’s just that we were busy recently. Heard you made it back to the Capital safe and sound? So, when’s the big hero going to set up a game?”
Jiang Yan glanced over at Jiang Li, who was laughing and talking with Wen Jiaojiao and the others.
“No time.”
The man on the other end of the phone sounded extremely surprised, “What? Since when is Young Master Jiang not up for it? We’ve prepared something for you, you’ve always been asking us to throw you a welcome party, right? The guys actually planned it out, we even found a dozen chicks, all top-quality, come on over.”
“No time,” Jiang Yan reiterated, “I’ve got to take care of my sister.”
The man was even more astonished, “Damn, Jiang Yan, you’ve changed, man. Since when are you such a sister-controller? Didn’t you always hate your sister? Although she has changed quite a bit, but—”
“Fuck off with your sister control; I already said I’m not free. Don’t bother me, I’ll talk about it when my sister is fully recovered.”
After he said that, he hung up the phone.
Jiang Li had heard the commotion on his end and peeked over, “What’s going on?”
Jiang Yan pocketed his phone, “It’s nothing, just a friend. Keep talking, by the way, what do you want for breakfast? I’ll go buy it for you.”
“Whatever.”
Hearing this, Qi Tianyu joked, “How come Brother Yan doesn’t ask us if we’ve had breakfast?”
Jiang Yan rolled his eyes, “Why should I care if you’ve eaten? You’re not my sister.”
After saying that, he walked out with an unlit cigarette hanging from his lips.
Wen Jiaojiao looked at his retreating figure with suspicion, then turned to grab Jiang Li’s hand.
“Although Jiang Yan is quite a bastard, don’t you think he has changed a lot?”
Jiang Li took a sip of the tea in her hand and nodded in agreement.
“He has indeed changed, become much more restrained.”
After surviving a great disaster, his fate and fortune had truly changed considerably.
The saying that one who survives a great disaster is destined for future fortune has some truth in mysticism.
It all depends on how he makes use of it in the future.
“By the way,” her gaze lingered among the few of them, “where’s Shu Yan? Where is she?”
Wen Jiaojiao shook her head.
Qi Tianyu sighed, “I don’t know what Sister Yan has been busy with lately; she doesn’t have any public engagements, yet she’s often unreachable.”
Jiang Li frowned slightly, a touch of contemplation rising in her eyes.
He Yun noticed this subtle change in her.
“What’s wrong? Don’t you feel well?”
“It’s nothing,” Jiang Li shook her head, “just thinking about some things, that’s all.”
…
Wen Jiaojiao and the others stayed until very late before leaving.
For the next few days, they visited every now and then, and every day her hospital room was filled with all kinds of flowers.
Although Jiang Yan complained verbally, he also bought one vase after another, carefully tending to the flowers.
It was the day before her discharge from the hospital, and that day, Jiang Li packed her things early and lay down, and Jiang Yan, unusually, was not cursing at his phone but fell into a deep sleep even earlier than she did.
Although Jiang Li found it strange, she didn’t ponder on it too much and, after turning off the lights, lay down herself.
Half an hour later, there was a rustling noise from the windowsill, and the curtains began to sway.
Then, a figure gradually appeared in the watery moonlight.
The figure climbed over the railing, tiptoed closer to the balcony, and then carefully pried open the lock.
But just as he was about to close the door, a cold breeze flashed behind him, and the next second, an icy dagger was placed at his throat.
“Who?!” Jiang Li’s cold questioning voice rang out.
The figure raised their hands and slowly turned, revealing an intimately familiar face.
“Jiang Li, it’s me.”
“Zhao Lang?” Surprised, Jiang Li lowered the dagger, “Why is it you?”
Under the moonlight, the man’s face looked gentle like jade, his eyes dark as ink, shining with a cool light, as if unreal.
Who else could it be but Zhao Lang?
He glanced at the bulging bed behind her and teased, “It seems Miss Jiang has become more vigilant and savvy in just a few days.”
Jiang Li flashed the dagger again.
“Stop the nonsense. You drugged Jiang Yan with sleeping pills for no reason, and now you sneak into my room in the middle of the night—what are you really up to?”
Zhao Lang showed a hurt expression.
“Of course, I came to see you.”
Jiang Li did not put away the dagger, continuing to eye him warily.
“Really.” Zhao Lang made a swearing gesture, “You know, I can’t just show up in public now.”
