Transmigration: On the Gossip Front-Chapter 108: Brother-in-law is the Ex 8_1
Chapter 108: Chapter 108: Brother-in-law is the Ex 8_1
Huang Jing watched Ho Zhen’s bustling hands and feet and knew that he had already taken the bait.
As for that good sister Huang Lei, ever since she came out dressed in pink and chatted enthusiastically with Ho Zhen, she definitely had some ideas in mind.
Otherwise, with her attitude that she wouldn’t bother without a benefit, would she be so enthusiastic in her chat with Ho Zhen?
Perhaps at this moment, both of them had long wanted to get each other’s contact information but just didn’t know how to go about it.
One side was likely to be the future aunt-in-law, while the other was concerned about Huang Jing scolding them.
Although Huang Jing wanted them to exchange contact information sooner, she couldn’t be too hasty about it, and couldn’t show any sign of impatience.
If they ever regretted Huang Lei marrying Ho Zhen and the family did a thorough review, they might find her impatient attitude at this moment and it could lead to a terrible fallout.
The original owner of the body had a good relationship with them, but that was when money wasn’t a concern. If Ho Zhen’s career did not develop as expected, the spendthrift Huang Lei, unable to spend money as she wished, would definitely complain.
She was just an observer and didn’t want to become the target of scrutiny, so she had to take it step by step.
She just didn’t know whether to use going to the bathroom or receiving a phone call as an excuse. In any case, Huang Jing had not yet made up her mind.
But no matter, the ringing of her phone made the choice for her.
Huang Jing picked up the phone and saw, "It’s a call from my boss."
She promptly greeted the caller and then casually pointed to the location of the study, with Huang Lei quickly nodding in agreement.
She felt like even the heavens were helping her; otherwise, why would Huang Jing’s phone ring at that exact moment?
Ever since Huang Jing had entered the room, her phone had been sitting on the coffee table.
Because the call was about work matters, Huang Jing talked with her boss for quite a while, and in the living room, Huang Lei and Ho Zhen quickly exchanged contact information.
Seeing Huang Lei ask for his contact details right in front of Huang Lixin and his wife initially made him really nervous.
Although he really liked Huang Lei, even though she was Huang Jing’s sister, they were twin siblings, which means they were of the same age, but Huang Lei was just more fashionable than Huang Jing.
But there isn’t a parent who would be happy if a future son-in-law first hooked up with their younger daughter and then tried to hook up with the older one, right?
Unexpectedly, Huang Lixin and his wife showed no sign of discontent. Instead, Zhang Xiaoya patted Huang Lei on the head with satisfaction, "Xiao Lei is sensible now."
Because of Huang Lei’s appearance, Huang Lixin and his wife had chatted with Ho Zhen for a long time.
Although they didn’t like Huang Jing, they had to admit that Huang Jing’s eye for people was much better than theirs.
As for Huang Lei taking the initiative to ask for his contact details, they saw no issue with this hidden maneuver.
It wasn’t that they looked down on Huang Jing, but an excellent guy like Ho Zhen would not be with Huang Jing if his family’s financial situation wasn’t poor.
Huang Lei was different; she was prettier than Huang Jing, better at dressing up, the only thing was that the university she attended wasn’t very good.
But her job was easy, allowing her to tend to the family. In contrast, Huang Jing was always working overtime, how could she take care of the family?
Huang Jing’s salary was high, but were the salaries of Huang Lixin and his wife low? Over the years, the money they had earned and the houses they had bought were all for Huang Lei.
Huang Lixin and his wife really didn’t see a reason why Ho Zhen would not choose Huang Lei.
As a man himself, Huang Lixin could see the ambition in Ho Zhen’s eyes, which Huang Jing could not satisfy.
As a salesperson, Ho Zhen had met many people, and a slight indication from someone’s eyes was all it took for him to understand immediately.
Considering Huang Lixin and his wife were very satisfied with him and Huang Lei was pleased with him as well, he could contemplate switching girlfriends.
Although Ho Zhen was young, he wouldn’t loosen his grip easily. He knew Huang Jing quite well, but when it came to Huang Lei and the rest of the Huang family, he really didn’t know them that well.
What if, just maybe, this was an act Huang Jing wanted to put on to break up with him, performing along with the Huang family?
At this thought, Ho Zhen, who was initially a bit interested, jolted. He had been foolish to forget such an important matter.
He had nearly been outwitted by Huang Jing’s schemes, but then again when he saw Huang Lei, the affection she held for him seemed to radiate from her eyes.
This hesitation made Ho Zhen reconsider and, after some thought, he decided to wait and see a bit longer.
He would wait until his feelings for Huang Lei deepened and learn more about the Huang family before making a decision.
After all, the older a man gets, the more desirable he becomes. Not to boast, but even past thirty, there were plenty of young girls who liked him.
Huang Jing had arranged to return to work tomorrow after this successful matchmaking attempt, sadly though, it seemed the matchmaker’s reward was out of the question.
Considering this, it would be better to go back tomorrow to earn overtime pay, while also allowing for a deeper understanding among them.
In order for Ho Zhen to fully commit to being with Huang Lei, it was essential to know her status within the family as well as the wealth of the Huang family.
Only then could Ho Zhen make the best decision, one that neither would find fault with.
With a quick mental calculation of time, they should have already exchanged contact information if there were no issues.
Huang Jing picked up her phone and stepped out of the study, glancing at the time, "Mom and Dad, it’s getting late. Shall we have dinner?"
Oh, right, dinner? It was only at this moment that Huang Lixin and his wife remembered they hadn’t given it much thought due to not prioritizing it, and thus, hadn’t bought groceries.
They had simply intended to make do with whatever was available at home, not willing to spoil Huang Jing and her partner.
But now, knowing that this potential son-in-law might very well become Huang Lei’s man, this meal couldn’t be taken lightly.
Huang Lei stood up, "Let’s go out to eat."
"Ho Zhen, how about we go have some lake delicacies?"
Lake delicacies, of course, Ho Zhen had no objections. He had entertained clients before and knew that high-quality lake cuisine was anything but cheap.
Ho Zhen felt that the Huang family indeed had considerable strength, yet when Huang Jing was studying, her lifestyle seemed quite average. Could it be because of the financial pressures of educating two children through college that they were constrained then?
For a moment, Ho Zhen couldn’t make up his mind. Well, it didn’t really matter whether it was Huang Jing or Huang Lei – marrying either of the Huang daughters wouldn’t be a loss for him.
"I’ll drive," declared Huang Lei, as she went to her room to get her purse, signaling Huang Lixin not to drive.
"Ho Zhen is visiting today, Dad, you don’t have to drive; I’ll take the wheel," Huang Lei said, leading the way out of the house.
Huang Lixin owned a car, and so did Huang Lei. Ho Zhen hadn’t expected Huang Lei, who was the same age as Huang Jing, to already own a car, especially since she was just an ordinary clerk, albeit in a government agency.
Ho Zhen knew that if there was no mistake, the car must have been bought by Huang Lixin and his wife; how could Huang Lei afford it on her salary alone?
Taking into account the attitude of Huang Lixin and his wife towards him, which became warm only after Huang Lei appeared and seemed happy talking to him, Ho Zhen suddenly understood.
It meant that Huang Jing held no status in the Huang family, or rather, Huang Lixin and his wife did not favor Huang Jing – their preference was for Huang Lei.
However, these were just preliminary observations. Whether this was the actual case would have to be ascertained later on.
