Transmigration; Married to My Ex-Fiancé's Uncle-Chapter 134; Night out
"I thought I was protecting her." His voice cracked. "She always looked so hopeful when people talked about the future. For years, I watched her hurt herself silently, imagining something she could never have. And I couldn’t..." He stopped, shutting his eyes. "I just couldn’t give her that pain."
"You should have told her," someone whispered.
"I know."
The word was a confession.
Feng Ting lowered himself into a chair, stunned. "So the pregnancy..."
"Was supposed to be the surprise she never expected," Zeyan said, the lie sharp as glass in his mouth. "Yueling and Shuyin were close sisters. When I approached Yueling about being a surrogate, she agreed immediately."
His voice softened, mechanical, and emotionless.
"I wanted to give Shuyin a miracle. Something she believed she could never have. I wanted to see her face when she realized she was going to be a mother."
His throat tightened so much he could barely speak.
"That was supposed to be her surprise."
Someone muttered a curse under their breath.
"We wanted to wait until the pregnancy was stable," he continued. "Past the risky period. Then we would present it to her, together. The scans. The heartbeat. The baby, she thought, was impossible."
He laughed weakly, bitterly.
"But then this..." He gestured at the scandal flooding the internet. "And everything fell apart."
Wang Jing’s expression softened with something like heartbreak. "The photos? The hand on her stomach?"
"She was updating me about the pregnancy," he said hollowly. "Letting me feel the baby kick. Letting me be part of the process so I’d know how to break the news to my fiancé."
A laugh escaped him, a shattered thing. "I wasn’t cheating. I was trying to prepare for the biggest surprise of her life."
The biggest lie.
The room’s energy shifted violently, shock turning into a furious strategy.
"This changes everything," a lawyer said. " You’re not a cheater,:you’re a devoted fiancé preparing a miracle."
"This is salvageable," another added.
Phones came out. Plans formed. Narratives rewrote themselves in real time.
But Lu Zeyan didn’t hear any of it.
His mind was calculating.
Three months until the birth.
Three months until DNA testing.
Three months until the truth destroyed him.
Unless.....
Unless Shuyin never asked.
Unless she stayed gone.
He stared blankly at the table, voice barely audible even to himself.
"I love her," he whispered. "More than anything."
No one heard him.
"And now she thinks I betrayed her."
He buried his face in his hands.
Even if the public forgave him.
Even if the board forgave him.
Even if this lie became the greatest love story ever spun....
He still lost her.
And in three months, when Yueling gave birth, the truth would be undeniable:
The baby wasn’t a surrogate miracle.
It was his child.
His and Yueling’s.
Unless Shuyin never returned.
Unless she had never questioned anything.
Unless she believed this lie for the rest of her life.
Please, he prayed silently.
Please just stay gone.
Take your money. Your villa. Your life.
Don’t come back.
Don’t ask questions.
Don’t look for the truth.
Please.
Just let this lie be enough.
Because if she returned, if she demanded answers, if she pushed for DNA testing....
His world would collapse.
And this time...
Nothing would save him.
SHUYIN — INSIDE THE CAR
Shuyin stared at the screenshots of the medical reports posted online, her name, her ID number, the infertility diagnosis... something she had never once seen in her entire life.
Then she started laughing.
At first, it was soft, just a breathy, stunned sound.
Then it grew.
And grew.
Until she was bent forward in the seat, clutching her stomach as laughter poured out of her uncontrollably, wild, raw, hysterical.
"Of course," she choked around the laughter. "Of course, that’s why he had to marry her." From the original Shuyin’s memories, she can recall how he had decided to abandon her on the night before the wedding and told her how he had been together with Lin Yueling and expecting a son, but they could have been together for more than a year.
Her fingers trembled as she swiped through the documents again.
Six years of medical records. Fertility screenings. Hormonal profiles. All stamped, official, sealed.
All was hidden from her.
"Infertile..." She coldly snorted. "Me? Me? No way!"
She threw her head back and laughed harder.
"Oh, darling," she said to the empty car, wiping tears of laughter from the corners of her eyes, "you thought the great Lu family dropped you because you were boring? Because you were clingy? Because you were stupidly in love?"
She leaned forward again, jaw clenched in cruel amusement.
"No, sweetheart. It turns out you were defective."
She tapped the medical report with her nail. "This is why he broke off your engagement. Why did he run to your half sister? And why did Yueling suddenly become Mrs. Perfect Choice?"
Two more laughs escaped her, dark and vicious.
"These rich families and their obsession with heirs... honestly, I underestimated them. I thought it was all about power and alliances." She wiped her cheek, smirking. "But nope. It’s the ability to produce a baby like a factory machine."
She sat back, crossing her legs, amusement curling in her chest like smoke.
"Shuyin, you are really was stupid," she said aloud. "Blind, desperate, hopelessly in love, waiting for a man who was already planning her replacement."
Mockery dripped from every syllable.
"And here I was feeling sympathy."
More laughter.
She enjoyed it this time.
Then, slowly, purposefully, she lifted her phone and flipped the camera to record mode.
Her expression transformed instantly, tears welling, lips trembling, voice fragile, gentle, pathetic in the way the public loved.
"Hi everyone..." she whispered shakily, letting her voice crack. "I... I didn’t know Zeyan did all this for me."
She glanced away as if overwhelmed.
"He kept it a secret... he tried to protect me... and now the truth is out."
Then a dramatic sniff.
"I’m so lucky. Really... I’m so fortunate to have a man like him by my side. I hope our future will be..." She let out a trembling laugh. " Beautiful. Meritorious. Filled with blessings."
