"Dad, I’m very busy. I have deadlines to meet and there is no reason for me to follow you to your meeting with Fu Mingze."

"Fu Mingze? You are already calling him by his name." Tao Hui asked with a raised eyebrow.

Tao Luqi rolled her eyes and said "I put his son to sleep so I think it’s fair that I call him by his name."

"Tao Luqi, I saw the way you looked at him, you practically had stars in your eyes."

Tao Hui laughed softly as he said "That’s a rash promise, I wonder what you were thinking when you made it?"

"Anyway, I’m not going. I am a designer and not a businesswoman, I see no reason why I have to be there."

"I know you are a designer and you are extremely good at what you do, but this deal with the Fu group will go a long way for our family and I need you to know the ins and outs of this because if anything were to happen to me you are the only one left to handle the business."

"Nothing is going to happen to you, why do you keep saying that?" Tao Luqi asked with a frown.

Tao Hui held his daughter’s hand and said "I know, but as a father I want to ensure that you will never be stranded in your entire life, do you understand?"

"Fine, I will attend the meetings and know the ins and out of this project, happy?"

"Indeed I am and invite Dai Shuo over for dinner, I would like to know more about my future son-in-law." Tao Hui said with a smile.

"He told you?" Tao Luqi asked with a shaky smile.

"He told me he was going to propose to you and I gave him my permission. When you accepted, he called me with the good news, but what’s wrong, you don’t seem happy?"

"It’s not that I’m not happy, I mean Dai Shuo is a great guy...."

"But?" Tao Hui asked.

"But I don’t think I love him, I’m scared that I made a mistake by saying yes."

"Then why did you say yes? Were you pressured?"

"No, I was not. It’s just that, when he proposed to me I saw the possibility of giving Tao Mei a complete family, I see the way she looks at other children who plays with their father in the park and besides that, I wanted to give myself a chance of love."

"And that’s what you have done, I see no problem here."

"It’s just that I...." Kissed Fu Mingze and haven’t stopped thinking about it even after telling myself that it was wrong. Tao Luqi sighed as she completed her statement in her mind, she looked at her father and said "You are right, there is no problem here."

"Fu Liang may have been the first to attack the kid physically but that kid attacked my son emotionally and mentally. Who will pay for that?" Fu Mingze asked the principal coldly.

The principal cleared his throat and said "You are right. Fu Liang was only defending himself from his classmate’s mental attack but violence is still not a habit that will be tolerated in this school and that’s why we have decided to give both kids a two-week suspension."

Fu Mingze stared at the principal silently, he watched as the principal avoided his eyes and sighed "Fine. I agree with you, violence should not be accepted."

"Does....does that mean you agree to Fu Liang’s suspension?" The Principal asked in surprise.

Fu Mingze stood up and said, "I agree to it, Fu Liang should never have attacked the kid, your decision to suspend him will help him reflect more on his actions but let it be known that once the suspension is over my son should not be in the same classroom with that Cang kid because that is when we are going to have a problem."

The principal nodded, cleared his throat again, and said "I assure you that they both won’t be in the same class."

Fu Mingze walked out of the school and met Xia Lian outside. He sighed and said, "He is suspended for two weeks."

Seeing the surprised look on Xia Lian’s face, Fu Mingze asked "Why do you look so surprised?"

"Because you allowed his suspension." Xia Lian replied.

Fu Mingze chuckled softly and said, "Fu Liang made a mistake and he is being punished for it."

"But it was out of self-defense right?"

"I know that but I do not want Fu Liang to grow up thinking he can do whatever he wants without any consequences. I will always protect him from the harsher consequences of his actions, but I want my kid to grow up knowing that each of his actions has a consequence and that violence isn’t always the answer. He bit the ear of a kid and only stopped when it started bleeding, if he were to resume school just like that with no punishment for his deeds, he would end up thinking that it’s ok to hurt others. I have seen so many messed up rich kids and there is no way my son is falling in that category."

Xia Lian was surprised by Fu Mingze’s words, even though he did not think that far ahead. He bowed his head softly and said "I’m sorry for my actions."

"It’s alright, I know you see Fu Liang like your little brother and I appreciate that but when it comes to his life, I am the only one who has the final say, and the next time you try to hide anything concerning my son from me then I will take you away from his side and from mine too." Fu Mingze warned coldly.

"I understand, it won’t happen again." Xia Lian said with regret.

If there was one thing that made Xia Lian afraid was the possibility of being away from his family. Yes, both Fu Mingze and Fu Liang have become a family to him and he will do anything for both of them even giving up his life if necessary. He can never imagine a life without Fu Mingze or Fu Liang, to Xia Lian, it was better for him to die than to lose his family.
