One Year Later

Yang Meiyi carried Fu Liang and gently placed him on the floor. She took several steps backward and shouted "Mingze!"

Fu Mingze quickly came out of his study and the first thing he noticed was his sixteen-month-old son looking at his mother with glassy eyes before paying attention to the toy in his hands.

"What are you doing?" Fu Mingze asked as he walked to his wife.

Yang Meiyi looked at him with a smile and said "I saw this cute video on the internet and I want us to try it out."

"Ok, what video?"

"We will stand here and then call Fu Liang to come to us, whoever he walks or crawls to first means that person is his favorite parent."

Fu Mingze laughed but stopped when he saw the serious look on Yang Meiyi’s face "Oh, you were being serious?"

"Of course I’m serious."

"Why is this necessary? I’m sure Fu Liang loves the both of us very much."

"I know and it’s just for fun, it’s no big deal." Yang Meiyi said while maintaining a smile.

Fu Mingze sighed and thought of the last time they did something fun she saw on the internet, the woman didn’t speak to him for an hour just because he had won.

"Are you ready?" Yang Meiyi asked.

"I am ready." Fu Mingze replied it wasn’t as if he had a choice anyway.

Both Yang Meiyi and Fu Mingze crouched down and began calling their son. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

Fu Liang who heard his name looked at his parents who were calling him and smiled brightly. He dropped his toy and slowly stood up to go to his parents.

After walking for a few seconds, Fu Liang began crawling on his hands and feet, and like that, he crawled to his mother.

"Yes! I won." Yang Meiyi shouted as she carried Fu Liang into her arms with so much happiness.

Fu Mingze on the other hand was about to breathe a sigh of relief when he heard a soft voice saying "Dada."

He looked at his son who was in his mother’s arms but was still stretching out his hands towards him and when he thought of ignoring the little boy, he heard a whimper which would no sooner lead to tears any moment from now.

"It’s alright, you can carry him, it’s obvious that it’s you he wants." Yang Meiyi said with a smile.

A smile, Fu Mingze found to be terrifying. He cleared his throat and collected the boy from her hands.

"I told you Fu Liang loves the both of us." Fu Mingze said as he gently patted Fu Liang’s back. If there was one thing he was grateful for concerning Fu Liang was that even though the child has his blue eyes, he had his mother’s character. He loves the fact that his son is growing into someone who does not hide his emotions.

"I know."

Fu Liang snuggled closer to his father and put his thumb on his mouth while staring at his mother with his bright blue eyes.

Fu Mingze chuckles at his son’s action slowly removes his thumb from his mouth and gives him a toy to play with instead.

Yang Meiyi smiled at the father and son duo and said "Fu Liang is really lucky to have a father like you."

"Meiyi, if you want me to step in then I can...."

"Nope, that’s out of the question. I want to get into GemWorld on my merit not through nepotism." Yang Meiyi said. She looked at her son who had now become focused on the toy in his hands and sighed. "Is my anxiousness that obvious?"

"At this point, I think even Fu Liang can feel your anxiousness." Fu Mingze said as he ruffled his son’s hair. He looked at Yang Meiyi’s ring finger and was about to say something but decided against it.

Yang Meiyi noticed his gaze and leaned forward to kiss his cheek. "I’m ready now, Mingze."

Fu Mingze looked at her in surprise as he asked "You are? But what about your father?"

Yang Meiyi shrugged and said "I did my best to contact him but it’s as if he no longer exists. This is me giving up and pursuing my happiness, at least I tried, and that only has given me peace. So let’s do it, Mingze. Let’s get married."

Fu Mingze could see the hurt in Yang Meiyi’s eyes, he knew how much she wanted to find her father. With Fu Liang in one hand, he made Yang Meiyi rest on his other arm saying.

"Sang Xiu may be gone and you may not have found your father but you still have a family Meiyi. Both I and Fu Liang will always be your family."

"Mama." Fu Liang called out as he stretched forth his hand to grab his mother’s hair.

Yang Meiyi laughed and caught his hand saying in a scary voice "You have been seized by the sea monster."

Rather than feeling scared Fu Liang giggled softly and hid his face in his father’s neck.

Both Fu Mingze and Yang Meiyi chuckled at their son’s action and Yang Meiyi said "Thank you for the family you have given to me, I will forever love and cherish it."

Fu Mingze briefly stole a kiss from her and said "I’m so glad my wait is over."

For the past year, there was nothing Fu Mingze wanted more than to get married to Yang Meiyi again and though he was sad that she would not be able to achieve her dream of her father walking her down the aisle, he will however do whatever he can to make up for that sadness.

Her mother or father may not be there to witness their marriage, but he will make sure that day will be the happiest day of her life.

The peaceful silence suddenly broke with a ringing tone, Yang Meiyi immediately collected her phone thinking it was from GemWorld, only to see Nie Yujie’s number.

She remembered their conversation a month ago and a frown etched on her face as she wondered why Nie Yujie was calling her after their last conversation.
