Transmigration; A Mother's Redemption and a perfect Wife.-Chapter 467; Honeymoon Phase 6
"That’s the Tang Fei method," Minghao said with the authority of someone who’d experienced it firsthand. "She doesn’t baby anyone. She just expects you to be capable and then you kind of... become capable because she believes you are."
Qin Xinyu considered this, watching his sister navigate the traffic with the ease of someone twice her age. There was so much he didn’t know about Twilight, about the years before they’d found each other. She’d survived something, multiple somethings, probably, that had forged her into this impossibly competent person who drove sports cars and ran companies and moved through the world like she’d been doing it for decades instead of years.
"Do you miss it?" he asked quietly. "Your life before?"
The question hung in the air for a moment. Twilight’s hands remained steady on the wheel, but something in her posture shifted, became more guarded.
"There’s nothing to miss," she said finally, her voice carefully neutral. "Everything I need is right here. This family. This life. That’s all that matters." Yes, this was also her momma’s dream.
Minghao reached over and squeezed Twilight’s arm, a gesture of solidarity and understanding that needed no words.
"Besides," Twilight added, her tone lightening deliberately, "where else would I get to drive cars like this and manage celebrities and help with international debate competitions? My life is basically a movie plot right now."
"A very weird movie plot," Qin Xinyu agreed, but he was smiling.
"The best kind," Minghao declared. "Boring movies are the worst."
They drove on, the Pagani eating up the distance between the school and the Huo estate with mechanical precision and barely restrained power. The sun was beginning its descent, painting the city in shades of gold and amber, and for a moment, everything felt perfectly balanced.
Three young people, each carrying their own complexities, their own secrets, their own remarkable capabilities, moving through the world together. Not quite siblings, not quite friends, something more complicated and more precious than either.
Family, in all its strange, wonderful, chosen forms.
"Hey Twilight?" Minghao said as they approached the estate gates.
"Mm?"
"Thanks for picking us up. This was way better than the regular car."
Twilight’s smile was genuine, unguarded. "Anytime, little sister. Anytime."
And as the gates opened to admit them, as the Pagani purred its way up the long drive toward home, Qin Xinyu found himself thinking that maybe he didn’t need to understand everything about his sister’s past.
Maybe it was enough to be part of her present.
And whatever future they were all building together, one impossible day at a time.
The Pagani purred to a stop in front of the mansion’s main entrance, its engine settling into a contented rumble before falling silent. The grand doors opened almost immediately, as if the household had been expecting their arrival, which, knowing the estate’s security system, they probably had been.
Twilight killed the engine and pocketed the keys with a satisfied smile. "Home sweet home."
"That was amazing," Minghao declared, unbuckling her seatbelt with enthusiasm. "We should do this every day.... We actually should do it more often.."
"Your father would have a heart attack, don’t do that to him..." Twilight pointed out, but she was grinning. She had done it while he is away, there was no way she was gonna do it while he is present.
"Details," Minghao waved dismissively as she climbed out of the car.
Qin Xinyu emerged from the back seat more carefully, taking a moment to appreciate the vehicle one last time before following the girls up the steps. The late afternoon sun cast long shadows across the courtyard, and the familiar sounds of the estate, distant voices, the rustle of trees, the soft hum of activity, wrapped around them like a welcoming embrace.
"You’re back!" A warm, familiar voice called from the entrance hall.
Nanny Yun stood waiting just inside the doorway, her face lighting up with genuine pleasure at their arrival. She was a woman with kind eyes and an air of capable authority that came from years of managing households and raising children. Her graying hair was pulled back in a neat bun, and she wore her usual practical but elegant outfit, comfortable enough for chasing after energetic five-year-olds, refined enough for the Huo family estate.
"Nanny Yun!" Minghao bounded forward, still full of energy despite the school day. "You should have seen the car Twilight drove! It was so cool!"
"I’m sure it was, Young Miss." Nanny Yun’s eyes moved to Twilight with a mixture of fondness and mild exasperation. "Though I suspect Master Huo might have some thoughts about that when he returns."
"Momma said it was fine, so, we don’t have to worry about anything..." Minghao announced with the confidence of someone backed by ultimate authority. Her momma would definitely protect her.
"Well then." Nanny Yun smiled, knowing better than to argue with Tang Fei’s decisions. Her gaze shifted to Qin Xinyu, softening further. "Xinyu, dear. How was school today?"
Qin Xinyu moved forward to embrace her, this woman who’d taken him in, who’d raised him with love and patience, who’d been more mother to him than any blood relation. "It was good, Mama. We registered for the debate congress officially. Mrs. Chen approved our team, so, we need to start rehearsing."
"That’s wonderful!" Nanny Yun beamed with pride, holding him at arm’s length to study his face. "I knew you would do well. All two of you will make an excellent team." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
"Three," Minghao corrected. "Qing Qing is joining us Friday. Then we’ll be complete."
"Of course, three." Nanny Yun released Qin Xinyu and gestured to them all inside. "Now, everyone go wash your hands. I’ve prepared some snacks and fresh juice in the dining room. You must all be hungry after such a long day."
The three of them headed toward the washroom in comfortable synchronization, the easy rhythm of routine and familiarity. As they cleaned their hands, Minghao humming some pop song she’d probably heard at school, Twilight efficient and quick, Qin Xinyu methodical, they could hear movement throughout the house. Servants going about their duties, the distant clatter of kitchen activity, the peaceful background noise of a large household functioning smoothly.
