The six of them ended up gathering at a restaurant that belongs to the other lady named Claire who is just a normal woman who isn’t a cultivator but she is a passionate cooker.

It’s just unfortunate that her business also got affected thanks to the bad luck of the alley. A couple of years ago, there was a gruesome death that happened in the alley and everything had never been the same from then on.

There are only six shops in the whole alley including Alayna’s. There was one restaurant, a blacksmith, a pawn shop, a convenience store, a bookshop, and a clothing store.

To her surprise, the clothing store was the craziest one for her as she didn’t think that in this alley, a fashionista will be found.

The good thing was for this one week she has arrived, business was much better for these other shops but not that good.

"Okay everyone, we have our newest member on the block, and thanks to her, we can say that our valley has been rejuvenated," Claire was very excited as she thought of the customers that had been visiting her forgotten restaurant lately.

"Yes, we can’t thank you enough. We could be closing by now!"

"…."

"…."

"…."

Alayna smiled brightly as she let the elders talk and let out their thoughts. She also drank some warm tea as she chatted warmly. It was only after a while that the elders finally left the stage to her.

"You had something to say earlier?" Claire reminded seeing that Alayna hasn’t talked yet.

"Yes, I have something that I want to share with you and was wondering if you can hear me out," with a smile on her face she slowly said.

To be honest, Alayna wasn’t young any more although she now looked to be in her late twenties. She was forty-three years already, she kind of missed her birthday and by the time she recalled it, it was already too late to tell the others.

The oldest among the neighbors was probably the owner of the pawn shop who was probably in his sixties and the youngest the bookshop owner was in her early twenties and looked like a nerd.

The restaurant lady Claire was in her thirties, so it can be said that they are of the same age and she was definitely no young lady.

"Go ahead and share it, we never know how helpful it will be."

"Okay, so the thing is after looking into this alley of ours I have discovered that unless we do some damage control, we can never see our business blooming as we want, which is exactly why I want to share with you a few ideas that may help," Alayna wasn’t in a rush and decided to explain herself before going further.

Claire and the other four had seen with their own eyes how special this newcomer is, and how she had changed everything around here. They weren’t fools to not see that there was something about Alayna and they will be fools to let this opportunity go.

"Okay go ahead and speak, we will listen," Claire was the first one to agree.

"Umm, me too."

In the end, everyone agreed so Alayna was free to share her ideas, "okay, so where I came from there is something that we call stokvel program and it works like this...."

Claire and others couldn’t believe that there was something so good like that. Everyone knew about borrowing money or lending money but to actually do it in such a manner, was quite new to them but they could tell that it helps.

"So, you are telling us that as long as we trust each other enough we can actually do something like this?" the blacksmith asked with a shaking voice, very excited actually by what he had just heard.

His business was failing because he didn’t have enough funds but if this program really works, he could see his future already but he never expected that Alayna had just started.

"Yes, we can actually do something like this but it only works if we have money in the first place which is why I will tell you about cooperatives next. Well, cooperatives are..."

Alayna took her time explaining and answering questions that were thrown at her while at it. It took her and everyone a great deal of time but in the end, it all worked out.

"Umm, all of these ideas are pretty good and we all were in the same line of business, cooperatives would be good. I guess we can try the stokvel thing."

"Umm, that’s true."

"I think that it’s time I get myself a loan but damn those people are completely sharks, I will be completely sucked dry if I even try!"

"There is always a way in everything as long we set our minds on it."

Hearing this, Alayna began to have another crazy idea, since money was a problem, why don’t she lend a hand and start her other old business while she is at it?

"Actually, if you are concerned about the money issue, I can help with that. I didn’t want to scare you all but I also do lend money at a low percentage rate," with a sly smile on her face she told everyone.

Claire and the others were shocked, just how many secrets did this person have?

"This…..how low is it?"

"It’s just ten percent," Alayna dropped a bomb on the five and they looked at her with shock.

"You are not joking right?"

"No, I will never joke with anything to do with money!" Alayna meant every single word.

"If it’s like this then we need to have a great talk."

Now everyone was truly invested in the conversation and Alayna was very happy that she had sacrificed her sightseeing day to talk with these wonderful people.

"Sure, we really need to."

Alayna had a lengthy talk with her neighbors for two more hours and when she left the restaurant, she had a smile on her face.

"What do you think about her?" the pawnshop owner asked as soon as Alayna left.

Susan, the bookkeeper who was the youngest and barely contributed as she was a quiet person spoke first this time, "in my own opinion, I don’t think that she means us harm or means to steal from us. We all saw how unique that shop is and we will be fools if we try to claim otherwise.

With the power she has behind her, she can force us to do anything but she lowered herself to talk with us and shared her ideas with us. So, I believe that we should at least try and see if this can help."

"Susan is speaking the truth here; we all face one problem after being out of business for a long time and it is that we lack capital. Just like she said earlier, for stokvel to work we should have money and at this moment we really don’t. Since she can offer us some loans, I believe that we can boost our business. We can’t really rely on others, we failed to receive help from them before."

"Yes, let’s try it. I believe that as long as we are on the same page with her, we can benefit a lot."

The five talked for a while once more before they separated. At the shop, Alayna was in the living room watching some T.V as she played with her phone while her mind was busy spinning and thinking of ways that she can help in this city.

Belshoy was different from Draak, that place was filled with most commoners who had land to farm and livestock to keep. The city was different as people rely on other talents to make a living and this also means that Alayna needed to think in that same capacity as well.

But before she could think even further, she heard a knock and she wondered who was looking for her when the shop is closed?

She went downstairs and opened the door, she smiled seeing Susan standing and waiting for her, "please come in."

Alayna said as she opened the door for her, Susan bowed her head slightly before entering. Alayna wasn’t the type that could open her private space for others so she sat with Susan in the shop where customers sit as they eat their food.

But before that, she offered her guest some water as there was nothing else to give at the moment considering that she hasn’t cooked anything yet.

"So, how can I help you?"

Susan is actually a shy girl who just loves books a lot, the bookshop was something that she opened after buying the shop from its previous owner some years ago.

Susan is one of the people who were born with the red spiritual root so her talent wasn’t that special so she dedicated her entire life to reading trying to find a way she can overcome this problem but it was unfortunate that she failed to find something that she can do to help herself that didn’t require a lot of money.

"I want some help with something, can you help me?"
