In a spacious office, a haggard woman could be seen kneeling on the floor while her eyes looked pitifully at the person who was sitting in a comfortable chair in the front.

".... I know that I wronged you back then and that I shouldn’t have done what I did but you all know that we live in a world where the strong prey on the weak. Did you expect me to just allow you to use that treasure and probably surpass me in the future?"

"I am also someone with ambitions and I couldn’t let anyone trample on that for me even if it includes the person who has been by my side for years. I know that I shouldn’t be carrying such air when talking to you like this but please hear me out."

"As you can see right now, I am not living well. As if I was cursed, my life suddenly changed for worse, I am sick, I am dying and yet they can’t even find the root of this trouble."

"I know that you are now capable and you can help me. Your daughter is now a venerable alchemist, can you please just give me that miraculous pill to save my life? I beg of you, just save me once. I ...….."

To be honest, Alayna wasn’t surprised to see this at all. The manner of talking was simply too absurd and if there was an audience, they would have thought that she was the one who was owing the other.

How can one have the audacity to kneel in front of her and ask for things from her as if she owes the other?

"Ha, who would have thought that one day the almighty mistress will kneel down in front of me and beg for forgiveness halfheartedly like this? Do you still remember how much I toiled for you those years?"

"I did all nasty things for you, paved the roads for you, and treated you sincerely because I knew that as long as you soar high, us as your servants will also soar with you. To be honest back then, I might have given you that treasure. My talent was simply too lacking and even if I used that, it would have been wasted."

"But who would have thought that you would cut all routes for me and left me for dead? At least you should have made sure that I was dead entirely before abandoning me in such a vile forest."

"Do you know how anxious I was when I waited for my death? I didn’t know whether I was going to be killed by a beast or die of hunger, thirst, or bleeding. You had to cut out my useless spiritual root just to make sure that even if I survived, I won’t even dare to think of living or thinking of revenge."

"But when the heavens favor you, there is always a way. I managed to survive, a hunter passed by and saved my life. I just wanted to die and wanted to give up but my adoptive father gave me a reason to live. So, I lived and just like you wished for, I never thought of revenge. How could I even think of such absurd thoughts when I couldn’t even take care of myself?"

"Although I was poor and lived in a village, farming, and living like a peasant, I was very happy. However, my adoptive father died and I was forced to come and live in this forest like an animal. I couldn’t let them find me; I didn’t want to be forced into a situation that would make me defile my adoptive father’s efforts during the five years he raised me."

"With a stroke of luck, I ended up being the owner of such a magical place like this and many others. From being a nobody, a mortal being, I am now like this, and to be honest, he he," Alayna chuckled as she looked at the pitiful being now sitting on the floor with a defeated expression.

"I used to hate you so much but then I sat down and pondered greatly about the whole situation and do you know what conclusion I came up with?" Alayna’s question was simply too daunting that the lady on the floor broke into a cold sweat.

"What…?"

"If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have ended like this. The heavens would have ditched me for another person and all of this will be gone. So, instead of hating you, I feel very grateful," Alayna smilingly said as she stood up from the chair.

The lady on the floor watched with helplessness as Alayna walked slowly towards her, the sound of the heels tapping on the floor so loud she felt as if her soul was being penetrated and it made her feel very scared.

Alayna crouched lower so that she was staring straight at the lady who had caused her too much despair for many years but now that the other was right in front of her, she felt that it was all worth it.

"I don’t have the energy to be angry towards you or even hate you but you need to know that I am a businesswoman and I won’t do anything for free. So, what do I get for handing over that precious pill to you?"

The lady was scared shi*** by Alayna’s eerie smile. She knew that whatever answer she will give on this day would determine the path she will walk in the future and honestly all roads weren’t looking beautiful but what else can she do?

"I will ...."
