The silence was simply so eerie that if it wasn’t for the wonderful voice that filled the whole room, one would have thought that there was nobody around.

On this particular day, in Phoenix Garden’s conference hall, five hundred people were currently seated, beautifully dressed and with their eyes fixated on the individual that was currently sitting in the front.

"... she wondered what would have happened if she had been late on this day and the thought made her shudder with fear. How can she not be scared especially after seeing with her own eyes the horrible scene that welcomed her when she arrived? To think that this cruel truth would have been hidden from her for the rest of her life, was simply too unimaginable....."

Merita kept on narrating the story in a manner that attracted everyone’s attention and got them hooked up with the story.

Alayna was also part of the crowd on this wonderful and this was her daughter’s first official book launch she hosted by herself. All Merita’s books previously were simply sold when they were done but this time, it was very different.

Merita decided to host a book launch and read the first three chapters to those that got lucky to attend the event. Currently, she was reading the third chapter and everyone was so engrossed.

Alayna already knew the story as she read it online but for her children, she will break a leg and an arm to support them.

Looking around and observing the guests’ reactions, she was very satisfied. Some of them wore sad expressions, some were even crying and some wore complicated expressions.

How can a writer be successful if she/he can’t write a story that affects the readers?

From the time that Alayna adopted the siblings, Merita had successfully written three books. The first book was a children’s book which was received well.

The second book was a plutonic romantic book that brought a lot of tears to everyone’s eyes and with a glance, she could tell that whoever the characters were, they were somehow related to the siblings’ past or deceased parents.

It was at this time that she realized that the kids may have regained their memories but she never asked. It was simply too sensitive and she didn’t want them to think too much.

Besides, the parents that died weren’t even their biological parents, another mystery needed to be solved and it wasn’t the time for that yet.

She was only waiting for a few years first before revealing the truth to the kids and it will be better if they managed to solve the revenge issue by themselves since she still wasn’t willing to do anything shady herself.

Alayna was simply lost in her thoughts; she finally joined the others when the crowd began to clap. Alayna also joined in the applause and looked at her child with love in her eyes.

Merita who had grown up to become a beautiful young maiden who has several pursuers that ranged from cultivators, royalty, and commoners stood up and respectfully bowed to the crowd.

"Thank you everyone for coming today, it really means a lot that you have graced me on such a special day like this. Today is the launch of my third book and I am happy to bring it to you."

"The ..............."

Merita was no longer a shy kid that couldn’t face the crowd but a blooming flower that was filled with confidence and charm. She advertised her book so beautifully that even Alayna was wowed.

At the end of the long speech and advert, all those that attended were given free copies that they happily hugged. It wasn’t just a free book but Merita also gave each one of them an autograph with a message on top.

By the time she was done, her hands were aching and she was itching for some sleep but the happiness she was currently basking in couldn’t be hidden.

The teenager simply ran into her mother’s embrace and took in the scent that she loves the most. Her mother’s scent was all natural and the woman rarely uses perfumes recently, so she was addicted to it.

Alayna simply patted her baby’s head and shared her joy, "you have done well."

Merita smiled brightly upon hearing that. Her love for writing was simply so great that she couldn’t do without it but all of this wouldn’t have been possible if Alayna had not given the go-ahead and encouraged her to follow her heart.

This woman had done so much for them and she was grateful. She vowed in her heart that she will be filial, she will take care of her and make sure that she doesn’t suffer in the future.

As the book launch was successful, those that received copies were so excited that they bragged about it to those that didn’t manage to attend.

Who would have thought that the tickets were free and an unknown method would be used to issue these tickets?

Several food items had some stickers and anyone who bought an item with this sticker was eligible for a free ticket to Merita’s book launch and this lasted for a whole month.

A lot of people were very regretful, they were simply too unlucky and didn’t manage to get a ticket. So, seeing those that were lucky and currently refusing with the books they got from the launch, they could only wait until the books officially hit the market and that will be in a day or two depending on the lady boss’s mood.

Seeing everyone’s reactions, Alayna was very happy, she couldn’t help but tear up in secret, ’my baby is really soaring!’

Just thinking of what she was doing when she was around Merita’s age, she couldn’t help but recall the painful memories, ’it wasn’t easy for me to be here but I don’t regret it. If those things haven’t happened, how could I have gotten so lucky and been graced by such an almighty system.’
