A stark, unimaginable increase in power distracted Nick from the last message the system gave. This wasn't some measly powerup when he would receive 5 attribute points. Nick could feel the power and energies of the cosmos itself infuse within his being in a singular, rejuvenating wave.

The burns and peeled skin healed almost instantaneously to the point it appeared as though they never even existed. Not only his muscles, intelligence, and mobility, but even his very soul became more refined as this power infused with him.

It was similar to a rank-up in a game, where the power increased so vastly that previous enemies were nothing more than fodder. That was how fundamental and gargantuan it felt.

Looking over to Amelia, Nick smiled. Her wound had already fully closed; her soft, imperceptible groans were now shallow yet healthy breaths. She was going to be ok then.

[Oblivion descends]

'Again? What the hell is this Oblivion?' Nick thought as he stared at the message, disturbed even with his new level up. The system didn't even show his new stats yet. It really did just exist to give him a hard time.

As if it felt Nick's distaste, the system focused on his new level.

[Every 5 levels, the user earns a transcendent level. This doubles all of their stats, grants them an extra perk point, and increases the amount of experience they need to level up again by 3x.]

'What! Are you kidding me?!' The new powerups seemingly left his mind as he focused on the last part. Almost refusing to believe the stupid system, he ignored the rapid dings of more and more messages as he looked for his current experience.

It was just as he had thought. If the experience had increased at its normal pace, the next level would've only needed 4,000 experience in total.

'Well, if the strength boost is good maybe it's worth it.'

'Huh. The stat boosts actually were as substantial. Honestly... I wish I had known about this earlier.' Nick shook his head as he lamented his stunted progress. If he knew that all of his stats would've doubled, he would've spread the ability points out more so that he received a larger boost from this transcendent level.

Well, now he knew for next time.

There was another new thing he noticed while looking through his stats: [Circlet of the Remembered]. It must've been a piece of gear the boss dropped that he had been too busy to notice.

'Time to rectify that,' Nick thought as he pulled up the [Circlet of the Remembered] from his inventory.

[Circlet of the Remembered; Ring; Legendary – Can store the memory of one slain enemy. By consuming the memory, this circlet can summon that enemy into battle. Once it dies, it is gone forever.]

'Summon an enemy? So if I kill someone strong, I can basically summon them, and I'm guessing that as long as he doesn't die he sticks around forever?'

Nick chuckled to himself for a second, knowing that such an ability was really strong. Just like all the other rewards, he started to actually feel some kind of power.

Glancing at Amelia, he knew it came with a great cost though. He could only wish that these rewards were worth it and that in future dungeons there wouldn't be so much death.

Thinking of Amelia, Nick wondered what her stats were and if she had any abilities. Therefore, he scrolled down in the menu to the Valkyries section.

Nick was deep in thought as he looked over the armors and its skill. The gears turned in his head, refined by years of playing video games where he maxed out the benefit of any effect he'd come across.

Her active essentially allowed her to swap between armors twice in a battle. If she could use her second armor to attract all the monsters, and then use the first to basically attract all their attacks and take little damage...

Well, that would be a pretty strong tank, no? What a lucky rotation of skills.

He took a glance around the battlefield, looking for the coward. Ironically, he was the only one who actually looked like he was in battle. Still, he was cowering behind someone's gravestone, somehow thinking Ethos would return or something.

'Or maybe he can hear the dragon?' Nick thought as the thunderous clapping crashed right over his head. The dragon Ugyr was descending now that it saw an intriguing adventure laid before him.

As Ugyr landed, Nick was stunned.

'He- he's a girl?!'
