Transmigrated to Another World and Doted on by Everyone!-Chapter 250: Extra: Ancient Times (Part 3)
Rong Xingyu froze.
He seemed to have heard a familiar word.
Unable to help himself, he interjected, "Wait, what general did you say?"
He has Ding surname?
Could it be Ding Yixin? 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
But then Rong Xingyu remembered that the young master of this prime minister’s household he had transmigrated into did not share his own name.
If the person this scumbag father intended to force him to marry was not Ding Yixin, that would be awkward indeed.
For Rong Xingyu himself, it might be manageable.
But if Ding Yixin ever found out... Rong Xingyu’s temple twitched faintly, his waist would probably suffer for it later.
Pressing his lips together, his long lashes lowered.
He was still tangled in his thoughts and therefore did not say anything further.
Yet in the eyes of the others in the front hall, his silence looked like quiet resistance.
The scumbag father and the old lady were convinced that this timid concubine-born son was entirely under their control and incapable of stirring any trouble, so they remained calmly seated at the head.
The girl beside them, however, clearly lacked patience.
Mu Yao’s brows shot up as she snapped at Rong Xingyu in a sharp tone, "What? Do you really think Grandmother called you here today just to look at that sour face of yours?"
"Whether you agree or not, you’re getting married today!"
She stressed the final word heavily, as though forcing it through clenched teeth.
Rong Xingyu: "..."
The conservative people of that era did not find anything unreasonable about him, a man, "marrying" another man.
More likely, however, the original owner’s so-called family had never regarded him as a person at all.
To the scumbag father and the seemingly kind old lady, the original owner had previously been nothing more than an invisible presence and only occasionally mentioned with faint disgust.
Now, at last, he had some use, that was to take Mu Yao’s place and bear whatever misfortune might await after marrying into the general’s residence.
Yet even with this newfound "use," he still received none of the respect he deserved, not even as much as a proper tool.
Rong Xingyu let out a cold snort inwardly.
He lifted his gaze toward the sanctimonious man across from him and an unreadable emotion flickering in his eyes.
"Fine. He agrees."
They had expected him to resist a while longer; they hadn’t imagined he would change his mind so easily.
All of them felt a surge of delight.
At the same time, however, their disdain for this concubine-born son deepened...
A grown man, yet so utterly resigned to his fate, accepting without protest the idea of disguising himself as a woman to marry someone else.
Fortunately, Rong Xingyu could not read minds.
Otherwise, if he knew that this was what they were thinking, he would have stopped holding back and simply flipped the table into their faces.
He had never seen people so selfish to such an extreme.
Still, it was obvious that once Rong Xingyu relented, the tension among them eased considerably.
The old lady took a slow sip of tea and looking as though she could hardly be bothered to spare him another glance.
"Very well. In that case, you may return. When the day arrives, someone will come to fetch you."
Mu Yao no longer looked tearful at all; instead she glared viciously at him and warned, "You’d better not run away!"
Rong Xingyu replied calmly, "Don’t worry. I won’t run."
He intended to leave this foul and suffocating prime minister’s residence first and go meet that General Ding.
If it happened to be his lover, then all would be well.
If it was not Ding Yixin, Rong Xingyu would think of another solution.
For some reason, he had an inexplicable feeling that the general really was Ding Yixin.
And he chose to trust his intuition.
As Rong Xingyu walked back toward the side courtyard, he raised a hand and touched his face.
His current appearance was completely different from before, if they truly met, would Ding Yixin recognize him?
And he wondered whether Ding Yixin’s appearance had changed as well.
Thinking this, a faint sense of anticipation rose in his heart.
Before long, the old lady sent several servants to the side courtyard.
On the surface, they said they were there to serve him, but in truth they were keeping a constant watch on Rong Xingyu, afraid that if he tried to run away they would have no way to answer for it.
But since Rong Xingyu had already made up his mind, he had no intention of leaving early.
And perhaps because they thought he would be "gone" in just a few days, his treatment here actually improved quite a bit compared to before.
He stayed quietly in the side courtyard, with no bothersome people coming to disturb hi and time passed rather quickly.
Just like that, the wedding day arrived.
On the day of the ceremony, Rong Xingyu was woken before dawn.
He sat in front of the bronze mirror while yawning and reached up to wipe the tears from the corners of his eyes.
The expression on his face was far from pleasant.
After so many years with Ding Yixin and being spoiled by his lover’s indulgence, Rong Xingyu’s morning temper had grown noticeably worse without him even realizing it.
Not to mention that ever since arriving in this ancient world, he had not slept soundly even once.
And now he had been dragged out of bed in the dark.
Rong Xingyu thought silently: even the chickens outside weren’t awake yet!
It was just a wedding, he had been married before.
Was all this really necessary?
With a sour expression, Rong Xingyu sat there without saying a word and letting the servants bustle around him.
But to others, his demeanor only looked like the Mu family’s young master was unhappy about this marriage.
They lowered their eyes and kept their movements gentle, afraid he might take out his irritation on them.
