Transmigrated to Another World and Doted on by Everyone!-Chapter 243: Extra: Little Mermaid (Part 21)
The egg was so thoroughly coaxed by its mommy and daddy that it felt dizzy and subconsciously about to nod.
Rong Xingyu couldn’t help exchanging a glance with Ding Yixin and both saw the smile in each other’s eyes.
He held the egg and stood up while shuffling in his slippers toward the bedroom next door.
This bedroom had long since been arranged into a cozy nursery.
The egg was different from a human baby; it didn’t need to wake at night and could sleep straight until morning.
Rong Xingyu placed the egg into the small bed specially prepared for it and tucked the blanket over it.
He gently patted the egg with his hand while humming a merfolk lullaby.
Only after the egg fell asleep again did Rong Xingyu quietly close the door and leave.
He saw Ding Yixin standing outside the door, and a smile bloomed on his face.
Rong Xingyu stepped forward a few steps and directly jumped onto Ding Yixin’s hug while hooking his long straight legs around his waist.
His hands also crossed behind Ding Yixin’s neck.
Ding Yixin supported Rong Xingyu’s body with one hand to keep him from sliding down.
Rong Xingyu rested his face against Ding Yixin’s shoulder and couldn’t help softly laughing for a while.
Ding Yixin’s brows and eyes were smiling and his hand slowly stroked Rong Xingyu’s back.
He carried Rong Xingyu as he turned and walked back toward their bedroom.
His other hand gradually moved downward as well, slipping along Rong Xingyu’s sleep pants, continuing what had just been interrupted.
"Mmm."
Rong Xingyu did not lift his face, but a sound still escaped from his mouth.
He twisted his body slightly in discomfort.
His slippers slipped off his feet and fell onto the carpet in the hallway.
But whether Rong Xingyu or Ding Yixin, neither of them had the mind to pick them up anymore.
The door of the bedroom next door closed with a "bang."
Fortunately, the rooms were well soundproofe and other noises could not carry over.
The egg turned over in its little bed, sleeping very sweetly.
Mommy and Daddy was right; it was the bravest egg in the whole world!
The next morning, the egg looked at the tightly shut door of the bedroom next door almost crying.
It backed up a little and just about to spring forward and bump into the door, when the door was suddenly opened from the inside.
Ding Yixin then reached out his hand and caught the egg in midair.
There was a trace of satisfaction on his expression and he looked to be in a very good mood.
"Shh," Ding Yixin said in a low voice, "your Mommy only just fell asleep not long ago. Don’t wake him up."
Being held in Ding Yixin’s hands, the egg swayed back and forth, nodding as if it half understood.
Ding Yixin let out a soft chuckle and turned around while carrying the egg inside.
He placed the egg beside Rong Xingyu and tucked the blankets snugly around both the big one and the little one.
"Stay and sleep with your Mommy for a while longer."
Ding Yixin leaned down and placed a kiss on Rong Xingyu’s forehead.
Noticing the egg beside them looking expectant, he found it amusing and he gave it a light kiss as well, as fleeting as a dragonfly skimming the water.
Then Ding Yixin left the room.
Having been kissed by Daddy, the egg felt extremely happy.
It looked at Rong Xingyu who was still asleep beside it.
Mommy’s cheeks were flushed and he was sleeping very deeply as if he were completely worn out.
Although the egg did not understand why, it snuggled closer toward Rong Xingyu.
Mm, since Mommy was sleeping so soundly, it would stay and sleep with him a little longer!
After all, it was the most well behaved egg in the world.
As the days passed one by one, the egg gradually grew bigger, yet there was still no sign of it hatching.
Both Rong Xingyu and Ding Yixin were first time parent.
At first they felt somewhat worried, but after asking an experienced Granpa Sea Turtle and learning that this was normal, they finally put their minds at ease.
"Don’t worry," Granpa Sea Turtle said, who liked the egg very much and played with it on the beach. "You couldn’t break out of your shell for a long time back then either. Just wait a few more months and it’ll be fine."
Finally, when eight months had passed, Rong Xingyu was playing with the egg when he suddenly heard a crisp crack.
On the smooth eggshell, a thin fissure had suddenly appeared.
Rong Xingyu did not react immediately; his heart instinctively panicked for a moment.
He thought that perhaps he had been careless just now and accidentally cracked the shell.
His eyes widened as he watched the crack grow larger and larger and gradually spreading like a spider’s web across the shell.
He called out Ding Yixin’s name anxiously.
It was only when the first loose fragment fell away from the shell that Rong Xingyu realized, the egg was hatching.
Rong Xingyu: "..."
Ding Yixin took hold of Rong Xingyu’s hand and emotions surging in his eyes as well.
The two exchanged a glance, then fixed their gaze unblinkingly on the egg.
Even though they had long known that this day would come, seeing the shell break with their own eyes still made it impossible for the two new fathers to suppress the excitement rising in their hearts.
Especially Rong Xingyu.
After all, the little egg had stayed inside his body for such a long time, and now he was about to witness its most important moment.
One piece of eggshell fell away, then quickly a second, then a third.
Soon, a small and pale tender hand reached out.
Rong Xingyu couldn’t help covering his mouth.
Looking at that chubby little hand, he felt completely charmed by how cute it was.
